        Immunochemical alterations, of hepatic δ-aminolevulinate dehydratase from ICR strain of mice exposed tio lead in vitro (10 mM Pb^++) and in vivo (intraperitoneal injection of Pb^++ 1.3mg per 10 grams of body weight) were investigated by Ouchterlony gel double diffusion analysis as described by Kabat and Mayer (1967) and Campbell et al. (1970). and two-dimensional immunoelectrophoresis by Laurell (1965). Rabbit antiserum against hepatic δ-aminolevulinate dehydratase from ICR strain of mice purified 230-folds by methods of Doyle and Schimke (1969) modified by Lee and Chung (1979) was prepared as described by Kenny (1971) and Alexander and Kenny (1973). Heat-treated (at 64℃, for 10 minutes) supernatants (45,000×g for 2 hours and 20 minutes) of various tissue homogenates were used as antigens. Ouchterlony gel double-diffusion analysis revealed that the antigenicity of the δ-aminolevulinate dehydratase was identical between those distributed in various tissues of the mice. Administration of lead in vivo, 3 hours prior to evisceration seemed to affect the antigenicity of the δ-aminolevulinate dehydratase, resulting in the production of an additional precipitation line on the gel diffusion slide. Normal hepatic δ-amiriolevulinate dehydratase from ICR strain of mice showed 3 protein peaks with mobilities of 1.01(peak A), 0. 80(peak C), and 0.43 (peak D) relative to the mobility (1.0) of bovine serum albumin fraction V (peak B). The immunoelectrophoretic pattern was identical with the normal δ-aminolevulinate dehydratase unaffected by the addition of lead in vitro whereas administration of lead in vivo induced an appearance of additional peak E with the relative mobility of 0.68. Three protein peaks that appeared in two-dimensional immunoelectrophoresis were considered as common protein fractions of δ-aminolevulinate dehydratase, and peak E as an unique protein fraction caused by de novo production of lead type δ-aminolevulinate dehydratase by addition of lead in vivo as suggested by Cantrell et al. (1977). These findings, therefore, could be an important. clue to the possibility of developing an immunological diagnostic tools for the evaluation of lead absorption. Further study would be required to determine the dose-response relationship between the amount of lead exposed and appearance and extent of production of the unique protein fraction.

        하악골에 발생한 거대한 cemento-ossifying fibroma의 치험례

        The cemento-ossifying filbroma is a well-demarcated and occasionally encapsulated neoplasm composed of fibrous tissue that contains varying amounts of calcified tissue resembling bone, cementum, or both. The greatest number of cases are encountered during the third and fourth decades of life and there is a definite female predilection, with female-to-male ratios as high as 5 : 1 being reported. The mandible is involved far more than the maxilla, and 90 percent of all cases are located in the mandible. The mandibular premolar-molar area is the most common site. Radiographically, the lesion is most often well defined and unilocular. Depending on the amount of calcified produced in the tumor, it may appear as completely radiolucent : more often it shows varying degrees of radiopacity. Some lesions may be largely radiopaque with a radiolucent halo. On microscopic study, the tumor is composed of fibrous tissue of varying degrees of cellularity containing calcified material. This may be in the form of trabeculae of osteoid and bone or basophilic ovoid calcifications that resemble cementum-like material. Admixture of the two types of calcifications are commonly seen. On this case, large cemento-ossifying fibroma has grown in the mandible and this lesion was treated by complete surgical excision and posterior iliac bone graft. A review of literature and a report of a case of cemento-ossifying fibroma are presented.

        음경에 발생한 기저세포암 1예

        Basal cell carcinoma is the most common malignant skin cancer in Korea. The lesions are most frequently found in the head and neck region. But penile basal cell carcinoma is very rare and there are only 29 other reported cases. We report a rare case of basal cell carcinoma of the penis in a 76-year-old man. He had a well circumscribed 1.3㎝×1.3㎝ thick scaly plaque with central ulcer in right penile root area for 4 years. The lesion was completely excised and no recurrence for four months.         급성심근경색증의 조기진단에 있어서 Myoglobin의 진단적 의의

        Background: Exact and early diagnosis of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is essential for the subsequent routine management of this frequent cardiovascular disease. Currently, AMI has been diagnosed using the combination of the history, electrocardiogram(ECG), and biochemical markers of myocardial necrosis. At present, many biochemical markers are used to diagnose AMI. In this study, the predictive values of serum myoglobin and creatine kinase-MB(CK-MB) were compared in the emergency department. Methods: Fifty-four consecutive patients who presented within 12 hours from onset of chest pain of presumed cardiac origin were enrolled into the study. Patients with trauma or renal failure were excluded. The serial serum myoglobin and CK-MB levels were obtained prospectively at admission and 2, 4, 6, 12, 24 and 48 hours after admission. We compare the levels of serum myoglobin and CK-MB within 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 24, and 48 hours after symptom onset respectively. And we compare the sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, and negative predictive value of myoglobin and CK-MB. Results: using World Health Organization criteria, 28 AMI patients were identified. Mean time from symptom onset to presentation was 4.1±1.3 hours. The predictive values of serum myoglobin were better than those of CK-MB within 6 hours after symptom onset. But, 6 hours after symptom onset, the predictive values of CK-MB were better than those of serum myoglobin. The false positive cases of serum myoglobin were 3-one was lung cancer with pleural effusion and the others were unstable angina. The false positive cases of CK-MB were 6-one case was viral myocarditis and the ohters were unstable angina. Conclusion: To compare the serum myoglobin and CK-MB in the diagnosis of AMI, serum myoglobin had better predictive values than CK-MB within 6 hours after symptom onset and useful in the early diagnosis of AMI. But, 6 hours after symptom onset, CK-MB had better predictive values than serum myoglobin and useful in following up.

        Database design is the base of the entire process related to the database, and the well-designed database schema has a great effect on the system performance. So, there's a growing need for the automatic schema generation system. In this paper, database design automation system is implemented which translates automatically OMT based database model to relational database table. For developing this system, transformation rules of OMT into RDB schema are suggested which satisfy normalization and integrity constraints. This automation system can be used efficiently in the area of training database system and applying database design in actual business fields.

      • A Morphological Study on Head and Face According to The Sa-Sang Constitution

        <Objectives> This research is a study about constitutional diagnosis through the external appearances as a basic principle, and it is for finding shape differences of the face and head, according to the Sasang constitution <Methods> We have collected 170 cases of patients of the Sasang Constitutional Department, including employees of the Kyung-Hee Medical Center and took pictures of the frontal view, lateral view, oblique view, and moire of face and measured heights, T-projects, breadths of face with 'The Measurement of R. Martin'. We analyzed shape differences of the face according to the Sasang constitution with certain results <Results> We got the morphologic characteristics of the head and face, according to the Sasang constitution <Conclusion> The characteristics of taeumin were that values of height, breadth, T-projected were maximum, in general, and the subnasal height and lower face area were maximum. Taeumin's pronasal T-projected and subnasal T-projected were minimum, and taeumin was depressed in the middle face and nasal part. In the ratio of breadth and T-projected of taeumin, T-projected was minimum. The area of nose, alare, middle face and lower face was maximum, and the area of the eye was minimum. Taeumin had minimum eyebrow declination and projected jaw and minimum diameter of cornea. Taeumin's forehead was projected to the right in general. The characteristics of soeumin were that T-projected was minimum in general and that subnasal height and lower face area were minimum. And pronasal T-projected and subnasal T-projected were minimum, so soeumin's facial shape was flat. The area of eye, mouth, forehead were maximum and the area of nose, alare, middle face, lower face were minimum. Taeumin had maximum eyebrow declination and a minimum projected mouth, and a flat jaw and maximum eye breadth. Soeumin's forehead was projected to the left in general. The characteristics of Soyangin were that height values were minimum in general and that ratios of T-projected points to pupulare T-projected were maximum, so the soyangin's facial shape was the most projected. Mouth area was minimum and was most projected. Forehead inclination was minimum and the forehead was projected to the left in general. Soyangin's eye breadth was minimum and middle face was projected. According to the results of a discriminant analysis, the accuracy of probability of discriminant was 85.58% in total, and taeumin was 90.5%, soeumin was 70.8%, soyangin was 89.5%. The classification accuracy was 49.03%, and the discrimination function was significant objectively.

      • Update on <i>ɛ</i><sub><i>K</i></sub> with lattice QCD inputs

        <P>We report updated results for <I>ɛ</I><I>K</I>, the indirect CP violation parameter in neutral kaons, which is evaluated directly from the standard model with lattice QCD inputs. We use lattice QCD inputs to fix [see formula in PDF], and <I>m</I><I>c</I>(<I>m</I><I>c</I>). Since Lattice 2016, the UTfit group has updated the Wolfenstein parameters in the angle-only-fit method, and the HFLAV group has also updated |<I>V</I><I>cb</I>|. Our results show that the evaluation of <I>ɛ</I><I>K</I> with exclusive |<I>V</I><I>cb</I>| (lattice QCD inputs) has 4.0σ tension with the experimental value, while that with inclusive |<I>V</I><I>cb</I>| (heavy quark expansion based on OPE and QCD sum rules) shows no tension.</P>
