This report describes a 70 year old female patient who had numerous bursts of ventricular fibrillation associated with syncope. There was no evidence of the precipitating factors except for chloroquine toxicity. Her serum K was found to be low (3.2mEq/L).

Objective: To analyze the effect of ovarian cancer related biomarkers and chemotherapy response score (CRS) on progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) in advanced ovarian cancer patients who were treated with neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) followed by interval debulking surgery (IDS) with hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC). Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the medical records of 63 advanced-stage ovarian cancer patients who received NAC and underwent IDS with HIPEC at the Yonsei Cancer Center from 2015 to 2022. PFS and OS were compared in patients with and without BRCA1/2 mutation, TP53 mutation and programmed cell death ligand 1 (PD-L1) expression. The effect of each biomarker and CRS on survival was evaluated. Results: BRCA 1/2 mutations were detected in 23 (37.7%) of the 61 patients. PFS and OS were not significantly associated with BRCA 1/2 mutation (P=0.522 and 0.052 respectively). TP53 mutation was detected in 32 (80.0%) of the 40 patients. TP53 mutation was not significantly associated with either improved PFS (P=0.868) or OS (P=0.427). PD-L1 expression was detected in 4 (10.8%) of the 37 patients (IHC cut-off value: 22C3 CPS 10, 22C3 TPS 1%, SP263 25%). PD-L1 expression was significantly associated with longer PFS (P=0.029) but not with OS (P=0.270). Thirty-seven patients had CRS 1/2 and 19 had CRS 3. PFS was significantly improved in CRS 3 patients than CRS 1/2 patients (P=0.032). However, OS was not different from each CRS group (P=0.451). Conclusion: PD-L1 expression and CRS were significantly associated with longer progression-free survival, but not with overall survival among patients with advanced ovarian cancer previously treated with IDS-HIPEC.

<P>Homogeneous Li4Ti5O12 nanoparticles were prepared: First, LiOH was coated onto TiO2 nanoparticles <I>via</I> a sonochemical method, operated at 20 kHz and 220 W for 20 min. These particles have about 2–5 nm coating depth of LiOH on the TiO2 nanoparticle surface. Second, the resulting nanoparticles were thermally treated at 500 °C for 1 h, resulting in the formation of Li4Ti5O12 (LTO) nanoparticles. These LTO nanoparticles had an average grain size of about 30–40 nm with excellent phase purity in good stoichiometric ratios of Li4Ti5O12. These nanoparticles with a uniform size distribution were characterized by infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, and high resolution-transmission electron microscopy analyses.</P> <P>Graphic Abstract</P><P>LiOH was coated onto TiO2 nanoparticles <I>via</I> a sonochemical method.
