According to the investigation made by analyzing cause of the detail about sports injury. We make this things an object of all the male representative players 254 out of 286 (88.81%) that took part in the whole event from April 15, 1988 to September 16, 1988 in Seoul Olympic Games. The results are as follows. 1. The representative players in Korea started in the athlete life at age 13.1 on the average. Gymnast early started at age 8.4 and yachtist was later at age 18 in the athlete life. 2. There are about 5.7 cases on the outbreak of the sports trauma per person of player a year. This came into existence near the ankle at the high rate of damage formed 11.90%. 3. A sort of sports injury in analysis muscular bruise broke out at the highest rate of occurrence formed 15.70%. 4. The greater part of representative players themselves the injury of trauma by massage (12.53%). Some of them undergo medical treatment to the specialist hospital once a year on the average. Most of hockey players have had experience in this kind of injury treatment three times one year to per person of players. A few of them showed 0.15 times per person a year. 5. Most of representative players have been periodically to the orthopedist formed 27.59 (732) out of all 2653 cases at the high rate of fact. Especially a sort of injury in analysis, the injury of ankle region showed the percentage 11.86 (704) out of all 5,937 cases at the highest rate. 6. The period of medical treatment of the representative players in Korea came out about 14.7 days. Besides period of the other player's treatment came out mostly from one to five days formed 44.82%(935 cases) 7. Manyof them have been roughly treated with muscular bruise in analysis of sports injury. They were taking pains with muscular bruise formed 15.65% (1003) out of all 6408 case. 8. In major cause of sports injury came into existence during the training with waste of physical stamina formed 35.89% and were beyond their power with practicing the game formed 48.09%. Also, a sort of those were brought about the cause of sports injury with desire of outcome too much during in the game formed 44.20%

Transthyretin의 Glutathione 자동산화 촉진작용

When reduced glutathione(GSH) was incubated at neutral pH and at 37°, its concentration decreased slowly with formation of oxidized glutathione(GSSG). Autooxidation of GSH was accelerated by Cu^(2+) and Hg^(2+), but not by other common mono-, di-, and tri-valent cations. Transthyretin was found to stimulate autooxidation of GSH in the presence or absence of Cu^(2+) and Hg^(2+). EDTA inhibited perfectly the autooxidation of GSH regardless of the presence of transthyretin. The stimulating activity of transthyretin was maximal at pH 7.0, declining progressively with increase or decrease of pH from 7.0. Sulfhydryl-blocking agents such as p-hydroxymercuribenzoic acid and Nethylmaleimide markedly inhibited the stimulating activity of transthyretin. Transthyretin stimulated autooxidation of other sulfhydryl compounds such as clithiothreitol and cysteine. However, it did not show a significant effect on autooxidation of sulfhydryl group of egg albumin and eye lens proteins. And transthyretin did not cause any oxidative change to thyroxine(T₄), 3, 5, 3Ltri iodo thyronine(T₃) and 3, 3: 5~triiodothpnine(rT₃) bound to it in the presence of GSH and Cu^(2+). The above results suggest that transthyretin may play a role in regulation of oxidized status of sulfhydryl groups in blood plasma and cerebrospinal fluid

고전압 응용을 위한 4H-SiC Schottky Barrier Diode의 제작 및 특성

This paper discusses about the processing and characterization of the high breakdown voltage 4H-SiC Schottky Barrier Diode. Two types of the devices were fabricated one was fabricated using the passivation layer and the other was fabricated without the passivation. In case of the device with passivation layer, breakdown voltages were in the range 120 V to 300 V, which is quite higher compare to the devices fabaricated from Si or GaAs. However, this value is lower than the theoretically predicted value. The reverse leakage current of the devices was quite low which is less than 10^7 Amp at the reverse bias voltage of 220 V.

In Conclusion, it is demanded that we throw away a fixed idea that commercial sports facilities are inferior and that we think its desirable direction of development and prepare a positive policy for it as a social physical education sports facility. We ought to not control it by using the laws of merrymaking businesses but consider the way to guide, assist, and encourage it at a dimension of Physical education development from seperate point of view as stated above. It Plays roles to replenish the shortage of public sports facilities especially in our country, So we first evaluate its roles to be being carried out and its performance limit properly and need to grasp newly the roles of public, private and commercial physical education and sports facilities in the whole organization of social physical education. While the national interests and demands in sports are being expended and accelerated nowadays, if commerical sports facilites are negleated in the contempt and indifference in the actual situation of these days, witout the reasonable conversion of conciousness of the people in the administration authorities about this or the propulsion of constrution of public facilities, the menbership free of menbers using facilities will inevitably soar, the approach of most general public enjoying sports to these facilities will be more difficults, and the alienated people from sports facilites may diffuse the conflict and stress caused by a remarkable contrast of the wealth of money by doing various kinds of antisocial and unadaptable behavior and by drinking too much enough to injure health. These make sports for participating and acting disappear and make sport for just hearing and Watching. This was happended severely in the past and it turns away the essence of soprts while the former is a conflict among castes caused by the superiority and inferiority of sports technics, but a phenomenon of these days is a conflict among castes caused by the distinction of the wealth of maney. This promotes the feelings of distance among people and misleads the vigor of living sports, the sports of our life.

개에서 결직장 연접부의 림프종 1례

A five years old female Shih-tzu was referred to the veterinary medical teaching hospital at Chungnam national university with soft bloody diarrhea and tenesmus. On rectal palpation, solid mass was palpated in colorectal region. In radiographs, small intestine was deviated cranially, descending colon and rectal junction were deviated caudoventrally in lateral projection of the abdomen. In ultrasonographs, hypoechoic nodulation of mesenteric lymph node in colorectal junction, mixed echoic thickening of colorectal wall and irregular margination were observed. Rectal endoscopy revealed that colorectal men was partially obstructed due to compression of the mass. Also, severe ulceration, inflammation and hemorrhage were also observed in descending colon. The mass was resected through the laparotomy. In histopathology, it was diagnosis of lymphoma in the colorectal junction.

말기신질환을 동반한 다발성 골수종 1예에서 시행된 자가말초혈액 조혈모세포이식

본 환자는 혈액투석이 요구되는 말기신질환을 동반한 다발성골수종으로 진단받고 VAD 유도요법으로 초기 치료 후 부분관해를 보였으며, melphalan 투여 후 자가말초 조혈모세포이식을 시행하여 심각한 부작용 없이 완전관해를 보이고 그 효과가 1년간 유지되어 이를 보고하는 바이다. Multiple myeloma with monoclonal gammopathy of the lambda light chain, which initially manifested as end-stage renal disease, was diagnosed in a 50-year-old man. Induction chemothery with VAD (vincristine, adriamycin, and dexamethasone) failed to induce a complete response. Complete remission was obtained after high-dose therapy using melphalan (100 mg/m²) followed by autologous peripheral stem cell transplantation. Hemodialysis was performed every day or every other day during induction and high- dose therapy. The adverse events during transplantation consisted of mucositis and neutropenic fever. This case demonstrated that a sustained complete response can be achieved in multiple myeloma complicated by end-stage renal failure using hemodialysis and high-dose chemotherapy without serious toxicity.

<P>Abstract Swine-origin pandemic 2009 A (H1N1) influenza viruses are still infecting humans, and humans are currently being vaccinated with the inactivated vaccine of 2009 A (H1N1) influenza virus. We wanted to determine the efficacy of 2009 A (H1N1) inactivated vaccine in ferrets. Ferrets immunized with one dose (7.5 mug) of 2009 A (H1N1) inactivated vaccine were not protected from infections of either pandemic H1N1 or seasonal H1N1 influenza viruses, while ferrets immunized with two doses of 2009 A (H1N1) inactivated vaccine were protected from infections of pandemic H1N1, but not seasonal H1N1 influenza viruses. IgG subtype of antibody was dominantly detected in tissues of immunized ferrets. Our study suggests that pandemic H1N1 vaccine may not elicit the antibody cross-reactive to the seasonal H1N1 influenza virus.</P>

Development of Au/CeO₂ Catalysts for Preferential Oxidation of CO in PEMFC

The preferential oxidation (PROX) of CO in an Hz-rich stream was investigated over Au/MO_(x), (M =Ti, Al, Fe, Ce) catalysts. It was found that 2.5 wt% Au/CeO₂ showed the best activity for the reaction. Ceria itself had catalytic activity for the reaction and the activity increased with its decreasing crystallite size. In addition, the effect of Au particle size was investigated by means of XRD, TEM, TPR, and FT-IR spectroscopy of chemisorbed CO. This analysis showed that the number of active sites increased with decreasing Au particle size. This effect caused changes in the intensity of the FT-IR spectra of the adsorbed CO and in the reduction temperature of the catalysts.

난소 미분화배세포종에 대한 방사선치료 결과

목 적 : 난소 미분화배세포종은 젊은 가임기 여성에 발생하며 방사선에 대한 감수성이 높아 복식자궁전적출술 및 난관난소절제술 후 방사선치료를 시행하는 것이 통상적인 치료 방법이었다. 항암화학요법을 본격적으로 사용하기 이전에 서울대학교병원에서 방사선치료를 받은 환자를 대상으로 치료 성적을 분석하였다. 대상 및 방법 : 1980년 8월에서 1991년 5월까지 서울대학교병원 치료방사선과에서 방사선치료를 받은 18명을 대상으로 후향적 분석을 시행하였는데, 16명의 환자는 수술 후 방사선치료를 받았고, 나머지 2명은 근치적 목적으로 방사선치료를 받았다. 수술 후 방사선치료를 받은 환자들의 추적기간은 51개월에서 178개월로 중앙값은 99개월이었다. 연령분포는 11세부터 42세로 중앙값은 22세이었다. 병기별 분포는 IA기 3명, IC기 8명, II기 2명, III기 3명이었다. 1명의 환자에 서 Turner's syndrome이 동반되어 있었다. 방사선치료는 6 MV와 10 MV 선형가속기나 Co-60원격치료장치를 이용하였으며, 전 복부에 1950-2100cGy(중앙값=2000cGy)후 골반부에 1050-2520cGy를 추가하여 골반부에 총 3000-4500cGy(중앙값=3500cGy)를 조사하였다. 6명의 환자에서는 대동맥임파절 부위에 900-1500cGy를 조사하였고, 대동맥 임파절 전이가 있었던 1명에서는 1620cGy후 전이 부위에 900cGy를 추가하여 총 4470cGy를 조사하였다. 대동맥 임파절전이가 있었던 1명을 포함한 5명의 환자에서는 종격동 및 쇄골 상부에 2520cGy를 조사하였다. 절제가 불가능하여 방사선치료만 받은 2명의 환자는 III기 1명과 좌측 쇄골상 임파절 전이가 동반된 IV기 1명이었다. III기 환자에서는 전 복부에 2000cGy후 골반부에 2070cGy, 대동맥 임파절에 2450cGy를, IV기 환자에서는 전 복부에 2000cGy후 골반부 및 대동맥 임파절에 2400cGy, 종격동에 2520cGy 그리고 좌측 쇄골 상부에 3550cGy를 조사하였다. 결 과 : 난관난소절제술 후 방사선치료를 시행 받은 환자의 5년 국소 치유율은 100%이었으며 종격동 조사를 시행하지 않은 III기 환자 1명에서 종격동 전이가 발생하였으나 항암화학요법으로 치유되어, 전체 환자에서의 5년 생존율은 100%를 보였다. 방사선치료만 받은 2명의 환자는 각각 112, 155개월간 무병 생존하고 있다. 결 론 : 난소 미분화배세포종에 있어서 난관난소절제술 후 방사선치료는 물론 수술이 불가능한 경우의 방사선치료의 완치율은 매우 높았다. 그러나, 방사선만 아니라 항암화학요법에 대한 감수성이 높고 치유율이 높으므로 난소의 기능을 보존할 필요가 있는 경우에는 항암화학요법을 시행하고 항암화학요법에 저항성이 있거나 치료 후에 재발된 경우에 방사선치료를 적용하는 것이 타당할 것이다. Purpose : Ovarian dysgerminoma is a highly radiosensitive malignant tumor occurring in young age group. The conventional treatment was total abdominal hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy followed by radiotherapy. We retrospectively analyzed the treatment results of patients who had received radiotherapy in the era before chemotherapy was widely used. Material and Method : Twenty two patients with ovarian dysgerminoma were treated at the Department of Therapeutic Radiology, Seoul National University Hospital between August, 1980 and May, 1991. Four patients were excluded from this study, because three patients received incomplete treatment and one received combined chemotherapy. Sixteen patients received postoperative radiotherapy and two patients had radical radiotherapy as tumor was unresectable. Median follow -up period was 99 months (range, 51-178). Median age was 22 years (range, 11-42). Among the postoperatively treated patients, three patients were in stage IA, eight in stage IC, two in stage II, and three in stage III. One patient had Turner's syndrome. Radiotherapy was performed with high energy photon (telecobalt unit or linear accelerator, either 6MV or 10MV). The radiation dose to the whole abdomen was 1950-2100cGy (median, 2000) and 1050-2520cGy was added to the whole pelvis, the total dose to the whole pelvis was 3000-4500cGy (median, 3500). Prophylactic paraaortic area irradiation was done in six patients (dose range, 900-1500cGy). One patient who had positive paraaortic node, received radiation dose of 1620cGy, followed by additional 900cGy to the gross mass with shrinking field. Total dose to the paraaortic node was 4470cGy. Six patients, including one who had paraaortic node metastasis, received prophylactic irradiation to mediastinum and supraclavicular area (2520cGy). Of the two patients with unresectable tumors who received radical radiotherapy, one was in stage III and the other was in stage IV with left supraclavicular lymph node metastasis. The stage III patient received radiation to the whole abdomen (2000cGy), followed by boost to whole pelvis (2070cGy) and paraaortic area (2450cGy). Stage IV patient received radiation to the whole abdomen (2000cGy), followed by radiation to the whole pelvis and paraaortic area (2400cGy), mediastinum (2520cGy), and left supraclavicular area (3550cGy). Result : The 5 year local control rate was 100% in patients who received postoperative adjuvant radiotherapy after total abdominal hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy. Only one patient in stage III who did not receive prophylactic irradiation to mediastinum developed mediastinal metastasis, but was salvaged by chemotherapy. So, the 5 year overall survival rate was also 100%. Two patients who received radiation only, are alive without disease at 112 and 155 months. Conclusion : Postoperative adjuvant radiotherapy as well as radical radiotherapy in unresectable ovarian dysgerminoma was very effective. But chemotherapy is also an effective treatment modality. We now recommend chemotherapy for patients who need to save their ovarian function and reserve radiotherapy for chemo-resistant tumor or recurrence after chemotherapy.
