Although the use of the antibiotics has minimized the dangers of the spread of odontogenic infection to adjacent important organs, sometimes the fatal cases, such as Ludwig's angina, mediastinitis, intracranial complications from the odotogenic infection, may be occurred. The odontogenic infections or oral and maxillofacial region may involve the intracranial area through systemic circulation or by direct spread into the intracranial cavity. Headache, malaise, loss of appetite, chills, fever, vomiting, apathy, and irritability are usually followed by more specific involvement of the nervous system. We experienced one patient who died of intracranial complication from odontogenic infection. So we report the case and the literatures about intracranial involvements following odontogenic infections and dental procedures.
3축 제어용 시뮬레이터의 로드 프로파일 재현 소프트웨어 개발

실제 운동조건과 같은 환경을 제공하는 다축 제어용 시뮬레이터는 설계나 평가에 있어 대단히 편리하면서도 경제적인 이점을 제공하여 준다. 일반적으로 완성차의 경우 설계에서부터 개발, 실험에 이르기까지 시간과 개발과정에 막대한 비용이 소모되고 있다. 그리고 자동차 부품업체에서는 완성차업체의 부품 검사서의 요구에 의해 시뮬레이터를 구비하고자 노력하고 있으나, 재현소프트웨어의 미비로 어려움을 겪고 있는 실정이다. 본 논문은 개발된 프로그램을 이용하여 기아자동차의 내구로(belgian road), 대우자동차의 도시로(city road), 고속도로(highway), 자갈로(gravel road)등의 신호를 입력하여 실제 실험을 수행함으로서 로드 프로파일 재현 소프트웨어의 타당성을 검증하였다. 이 과정에서 실험차량의 현가장치와 타이어가 비선형이기 때문에 초기 구동화일에 대한 응답신호는 요구되는 신호와 차이가 발생하였는데 이 오차는 반복 개선작업을 통하여 최소화시키면서 응답신호가 요구신호에 일치하도록 반복작업을 되풀이하였다. Full scale durability test in the laboratory is an essential of any fatigue life evaluation of components or structures of the automotive vehicle. Component testing is particularly important in today's highly competitive industries where the design to reduce weight and production costs must be balanced with the necessity to avoid expensive service failure. Generally, Hydraulic road simulator is used to carry out the fatigue test and the vibration test. In this paper, the algorithm and software to realize the real road profile are developed. The operation software for simultaneously controlled 3-axial simulator is developed and the input and output data are displayed window based PC controller in the real time. Futhermore, the software to generate the real road profile are developed. The validity of the software are verified by applying the belgian road, the city road the highway, and the gravel road. The results of the above experiment show that the real road profiles are realized well after 10th iteration. .

Diagnostic peritoneal lavage is a accurate and safe method confirming the intraabdominal injury with head trauma, unstable multiple injuried patients. But the development of imaging technique and the trend in noninvasive diagnostic value is decreasing now. In the emergency room, the emergency physicians are required the rapidity and accuracy in intial assessment and the decisions for the operation or not. So emergency physicians have been investigating the diagnostic method for intraabdomial injury that is more rapid, safe and accurate. Many diagnostic tools are developed and now accepted and used widely, among them the diagnostic peritoneal lavage is still the best method for unsatble or head injuried patients. But the positive diagnostic criterias are variable by many authors and still remain imperfectly. So our study was reviewed by medical record of patients who were undertaken the diagnostic peritoneal lavage for the diagnosis intraabdominal injury and statistical analysis was done compared with many criteria of red blood cell and white blood cell for the more accurate way. A retrospective study of diagnostic peritoneal lavage was done of 90 patients with blunt abdominal trauma during 2 years from January, 1996 to December, 1997 and summerized our experience. The results were as follows; 1) There are 73 males and 17 females in sex. The most common type of injury was the traffic accident. 2) With many variable criteria of RBC and WBC, the accuracy and the false positive and false negative were not different in statistical results. The average accurracy was 80.1%. 3) The operations were done in 30(33.3%) cases, and the most frequent injuried organ was the small bowel, 20 cases(66.7%).

This paper presents a process incapability index to provide manager with various information of process and to reduce cost. The introduced process incapability indices indicate information about mean and variance of manufacturing process and variance of inspection process to evaluate process capability using ratio of variance and difference between target and mean to specification. This model can be used by the scale of six sigma management.
괴사성 장염 환아의 금식기간 결정을 위한 Iohexol의 유용성 : Iohexol의 위장과 투여 후 채취한 소변을 전산화단층촬영법을 이용

Background: Necrotizing enterocolitis is the most common gastrointestinal emergency in the neonates and its course is often fulminating with progressive lethargy. The purpose of this study is to determine the period of NP0(non per os) treatment in the patients with neonatal necrotizing enterocolitis. Matenal and methods: For determining the normal range of CT(Computerized tomography) attenuation coefficients of urine from normal neonates, 60 normal neonates participated in this study. And urine specimens from 16 patients with stage IIB necrotizing enerocolitis were obtained 8-12 hours after the instillation of iohexol enterally. The attenuation coefficients of each urine specimen were determined with CT. Periodic examinations were performed at an interval of two days. As soon as the values of attenuation coefficients reached the normal range, we discontinued NPO treatment. Results: The mean period of NPO treatment of 16 patients with stage IIB necrotizing enterocolitis was 11.1 days. The NPO period of 6 patients were 8 days, two were 10 days, four were 12 days, one was 14 days and three were 16 days. Conclusion: By means of this study, we were able to determine the period of NPO treatment on a case by case basis. The authors think that CT examination of the obtained urine after the instillation of iohexol may be a good method to determine the period of NPO treatment.

<P>This work shows that the functions of microporous organic network materials can be enhanced through engineering of the material structure. Mimicking the surface structure of velvet worms, we prepared the aligned 1D structure (rod) of microporous porphyrin networks by the Sonogashira coupling of tetrakis(4-ethynylphenyl)porphyrin with 1,4-diiodobenzene in an anodic aluminum oxide plate. The length of the 1D structure was controlled in the range of 1-5 mu m. The velvet worm surface-like microporous porphyrin networks (Velvet-MPNs) showed higher sensitivities to hydrogen chloride and ammonia gases by up to similar to 14 and 4.6 times, respectively, compared with a control MPN material without rods.</P>

<P>The improved performance of a bottom photonic crystal (PC) light-emitting diode (LED) is analyzed based on internal quantum efficiency (η<SUB>int</SUB>) and light-extraction efficiency (η<SUB>ex</SUB>). The bottom PC is fabricated by anodized aluminum oxide nanopatterns and InGaN quantum wells (QWs) are grown over it. Transmission electron microscopy images reveal that threading dislocations are blocked at the nanometer-sized air holes, resulting in improved optical emission efficiency of the QWs. From temperature-dependent photoluminescence measurements, the enhancement of η<SUB>int</SUB> is estimated to be 12%. Moreover, the enhancement of η<SUB>ex</SUB> is simulated to be 7% by the finite-difference time-domain method. The fabricated bottom PC LED shows a 23% higher optical power than a reference, which is close to the summation of enhancements in η<SUB>int</SUB> and η<SUB>ex</SUB>. Therefore, the bottom PC improves LED performance through higher optical quality of QWs as well as increased light extraction.</P> <B>Graphic Abstract</B> <P>A bottom photonic crystal (PC) is fabricated by anodized aluminum oxide nanopatterns to reduce threading dislocations in InGaN quantum wells grown over the PC (see image).
