Literally, the mean of Tae-gye is highest brook. And on the basis of the acupuncture theory, Tae-gye point is the Soo earth point and source point of the Kidney Channel as well. In addition, Tae-gye point is one of the Yang-Returning Nine points. We were trying to study bibliographically on the Tae-gye point because Tae-gye point can be used very broadly across the symptoms in the theoretical aspect described above. As a results, we found out that according to the classical books of acupuncture, Tae-gye point is entering point of the Meridian Water as a source point and can be used at both Kidney-Sufficient Syndrom and Kidney-Deficient Syndrom. And Tae-gye can be applied to the disease of kidney or bladder that is urogenital symtoms, Also, Tae-gye is an useful option of tooth-ache, asthma, indigestion, constipation, edema etc whose cause is related with decrease of Kidney ki.

연구목적: 전립선비대증은 노화현상에 의해 발생하는 질환으로서 임상적으로 주로 50세 이상에서 증상이 나타난다. 산소 라디칼은 DNA의 염기에 다양한 손상을 미칠 수 있다. 산소 라디칼에 의한 DNA의 변화에는 여러 가지 형태가 있으며 이러한 변화들 가운데서 guanine이 8-oxoguanine (8-hydroxyguanine, oh8Gua)으로의 수산화(hydroxylation) 반응은 가장 흔히 관찰되는 형태로서 노화 및 만성 퇴행성 질환, 기타 여러 질환의 중요한 병인으로 인식되고 있다. 세포에 유해한 영향을 주는 oh8Gua의 생성으로부터 유전자를 보호하는 수복효소 중 8-oxoguanine-DNA glycosylase (OGG1)가 주된 역할을 하는 것으로 알려져 있는데 이 효소를 생산하는 유전자인 hOGG1은 사람마다 유전자형이 다르다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 전립선비대증이 노화와 관련된 hOGG1 유전자형에 따라서 발생에 차이가 있는지를 조사하였다. 대상 및 방법: 충북대학교 병원에서 전립선비대증으로 진단 받고 입원하여 경요도전립선절제술을 받은 환자로 병리 조직학적으로 전립선비대증이 확인된 81명을 환자군으로 하였으며, 충청북도내 10개 군에서 50세 이상의 건강한 성인 남자 764명을 대상으로 실시한 전립선 무료검진에서 경직장 초음파 검사상 전립선 크기 20 gm 이하, 국제 전립선 증상 점수(IPSS) 7점 이하, 요속 10 ㎖/s 이상, 전립선 특이 항원(PSA) 4.0 ng/㎖ 이하인 81명을 대조군으로 설정하였다. 이들에서 채취한 혈액에서 genomic DNA를 얻은 후 PCR-SSCP (polymerase chain reaction-single stranded conformation polymorphism), 직접 염기서열분석(direct DNA sequencing) 및 RFLP (restriction fragment length polymorphism)를 통해서 두 군 사이의 hOGG1 유전자의 다형성을 분석하였다. 결과: 대조군에서 codon 326형은 Ser326Ser형이 12례(14.8%), Ser326Cys형이 51례(63.0%), Cys326Cys형이 18례(22.2%)였으며 전립선비대증 환자군에서는 Ser326Ser형이 15례(18.5%), Ser326Cys형이 34례(42.0%), Cys326Cys형이 32례(39.5%)로 두 군 사이에 통계적인 유의성이 관찰되었다(p=0.022). 또한 Cys326Cys형과 나머지(Ser326Ser, Ser326Cys)형으로 나누어 시행한 통계 분석에서도 대조군에서는 각각 18례(22.2%), 63례(77.8%)였으며 전립선비대증 환자군에서는 32례(39.5%), 49례(60.5%)로 통계적인 유의성이 관찰되었다(p=0.017, OR=2.286, 95% CI=1.149-4.546). 결론: hOGG1 유전자의 형태와 전립선비대증의 발생과는 밀접한 관련이 있었다. 즉 hOGG1 Cys326Cys형을 가진 사람에서 전립선비대증이 발생한 가능성이 높을 것으로 사료된다. Purpose: 8-oxoguanine DNA glycosylase (OSS1) rapairs DNA by removing 8-oxoguanine (oh8Gua), a highly mutagenic oxidative DNA adduct. Recently, the human gene for OGG1 (hOGG1) was cloned and several genotypes have been reported. However, the implications of such genotypes in benign prostatic lyperplasia have not been demonstrated. To assess the involvement of hOGG1 associated with the aging process on the developing of BPH, we analyzed the genetic polymorphisms of hOGG1. Materials and Methods: We studied the hOGG1 gene polymorphisms in 81 cases of BPH and 81 cases of normal controls. We performed the SSCP, PCR-based restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) and direct sequencing to characterize the genetic polymorphisms of hOGG1 in both BPH patients and controls. Results: We found two polymorphic sites. A serine326/cysteine polymorphism at codon 326 (1a type) in exon 7 was associated with an exchange of amino acid. Another polymorphic site at codon 324 (1b type) in exon 6 was silent. We found that the distribution of hOGG1 genotypes in BPH patients (Ser326Ser type 18.5%, Ser326Cys type 42.0% and Cys326Cys type 39.5%) was significantly different from that in controls (14.8%, 63.0% and 22.2%, respectively) (p=0.022). Homozygosity for the Cys326Cys genotype significantly increased the risk of developing BPH, with the odds ratio (OR) being 2.286 (95% confidence interval [CI]=1.149-4.546) Conclusion: Our results suggest that the hOGG1 Cys326Cys genotype might play a important role in the development of BPH.

We have been proposed model equation which is able to predict the trihalomethane producing concentration formation, that is one of byproduct, in the water treatment processes. In proposed model, the effects of trihalomethane factors like chlorine contact time, pH, temperature, TOC and UV-254 are considered. The concentration of the trihalomethane produced is proportion to the contact with chlorine, pH of water, temperature of water TOC and UV-254, respectively. This proposed model could be predicted the formed concentration of trihalomethanes by trihalomethane factors.

1. 목적 급성백혈병의 화학요법에 있어서 관해유도 요법시에 보다 더 강력한 항암화학요법을 시행하고 골수억제의 회복을 위하여 말초혈액에서 채취한 조혈모세포의 투여로 그 효과를 증대시키고자 시도하였다. 2. 방법 관해유도 화학요법후에 골수억제시기로부터 회복단계로서 백혈구감소증이 호전도면서 단핵세포가 증가될 때에 말초혈액에서 조혈간세포(stem cell)로 인정되고 있는 CD34+세포의 함유량이 1% 이상되는 시기를 찾아내고 그 때부터 평균 4차례의 단핵구를 분리채집을 하여 -74。C에 냉동보관하였다가 제2차 화학요법후에 해동시켜서 정맥주입하였다. 3. 결과 대상 급성백혈병환자는 6명에 23회의 조혈간세포를 함유한 단핵구 채집을 시행하였고 유효한 단핵구의 채집은 4례에서 가능하였고 2례에서는 유효한 채집이 못되었다. 채집효율은 39.0-74.5%로서 평균 49.8%였다. 채집 후에 혈액학적 변화는 혈색소의 약간 감소 (평균 1.34g/dl)와 혈소판의 감소 (평균20.25%)를 나타내었다. 해동 단핵구를 투여할시에 일과성인 불쾌감, 기침, 흉부압박감, 호흡곤란 등이 있었다. 4. 결론 자가골수이식에서 자기말초혈액조혈간세포이식으로 관심이 이행되는 현시점에 자가조혈간세포를 채집하여 수혈하는 기술이 확립되는 기초를 이루었다고 본다. 이번 대상들은 재발된 금성백혈병들에 시행하였으나, 향후에는 초발시에 제일차 관해유도 화학요법 과정에 시도해야할 것으로 생각한다. Object: Peripheral blood stem cells(PBSC) were collected after remission induction chemotherapy and reinfused after intensified chemotherapy in order to increase the chemotherapeutic efficacy. Method: Collection of mononuclear cells (MNC) was started when CD34+ cells above 1% and WBC above 1,000/ul with mononuclear cell percentage above 30%, the collection procedures were done 2-6 time in each patient of total 6 cases. The collected MNCs were stored in - 750C and reinfused after thawing in the water bath at 370C Results: Twenty three collection procedures from the 6 cases of acute leukemia had made effective MNC collection in 4 cases and mean collection efficiency was 49.8%(from 39.0% to 74.5%). Hematological changes after the procedure were mean reduction of hemoglobin 1.34g/dl and mean 20.25% of decreased platelet count. There were noticed transient symptoms of discomfort, coughing, chest tightness and dyspnea in association with the infusion of stored cells. Conclusion: The basic process for the peripheral blood stem cell transplantation (PBSCT) was accomplished with this supportive care for the consolidation chemotherapy of acute leukemia. 실험동물에 있어서 연령 차이에 따라서 xylene 독성이 어떠한 차이가 있는지를 검토하는 일환으로 5주령 및 12주령 흰쥐에 50% m-xylene을 체중 100 g 당 0.25 ml씩 1회 투여한 다음 24시간 후에 처치하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. Xylene 투여로 인한 요 중 methylhippuric acid 함량은 5주령군이 12주령군에 비해 현저하게 높게 나타났다. 그리고 간조직 중 cytochroms P-450 함량은 대조군에 있어서 5주령군이 12주령군 보다 약 50% 정도 낮게 나타났으나 xylene 투여로 인한 cytochrome P-450 함량 증가율은 12주령군 보다 5주령군에서 높게 나타났다. 간 alcohol dehydrogenase 활성치도 대조군에 있어서는 5주령군이 12주령 보다 약 35% 정도 낮게 나타났으나 xylene 투여로 인한 본 효소의 활성 증가율은 5주령군에서 오히려 높게 나타났다. 그러나 간 aldehyde dehydrogenase 활성치는 대조군 및 xylene 투여군 모두 5주령과 12주령간에 유의한 차이를 나타내지 않았다. 한편 xylene 투여시 체중 당 간무게, 간조직 malondialdehyde 함량 및 혈청 ALT 활성 변동을 통하여 간손상 정도를 상호 비교 관찰하였을 때, 12주령군이 5주령 실험동물 보다 간손상이 다소 심하게 나타남을 알 수가 있었다. 이상 실험결과는 연령에 따라 xylene에 의한 간손상의 차이는 이물질의 생체내 대사율이 달리 나타나기 때문일 것으로 생각된다. To evaluate an effect of aging on the xylene toxicity, 50% m-xylene in olive oil (0.25 ml/100 g body wt.) was administered to 5 week and 12 week-old rats one times intraperitoneally and sacrificed at 24 hrs afterwards. The increasing rate of urinary H-methylhippuric acid concentration was higher in 12 week-old rats than 5 week-old rats by the treatment of m-xylene. On the liver function findings, i.e., liver weight/body weight (%), serum levels of ALT activity and hepatic malondialdehyde content, 12 week-old rats showed more severe liver injury than 5 weeks those in xylene-treated rats. And the hepatic cytochrome P-450 contents was higher in 12 weeks rats than those of in 5 week-old rats, but the increasing rate of that was lower in 12 week-old rats. Hepatic alcohol dehydrogenase activity was also higher in 12 week-old rats than in 5 week-old rats whereas the increasing rate of that was higher in 5 week-old than those in 12 week-old rats by the xylene treatment. Furthermore, the hepatic aldehyde dehydrogenase activities were no differences between the 5 and 12 week-old rats both in the control and xylene-treated group, In conclusion, age may influences upon the hepatotoxicity with xylene and it may be responsible for xylene metabolism in rats.

An Ac-type Plasma Display Panel (PDP) operating with Ne-Ar(0.1%) Penning mixture gas is fabicated. The characterics of the panel with electrodes covered with thin and thick dielectric layers are studied. The brightness of the Neon-orange light emitted by the panel measured as function of applied voltage and frequency. As an application, a graphic display system equipped with PDP showing still and moving pictures is made.

1. In every natural language including Korean, comples sentences are generated by complementation, relativization adn sentential connection which make complex sentences much complicate in their structures and in their transformattions to surface forms than in theones of simplex sentences. Sentential connection is a procedure to make connective sentence which is made of two (or more)(lower) constituent sentences(henceforth S1 and S2, respectively) and one (or more) sentence connective. Thelatter is placed between the two constituent sentences in Korean. To explain the semanteic structure of connective sentences, it is necessary to account for the relations between S1 and S2. This relations can be inwasy discovered by analyzing the meaning of connective, that is, we can study the syntacto-semantic relations of the sentences by discomposing the lexical item(connective) into semantic features that are abstract and atomic. Korean has many sentence connectives adn they make the sentences more complicated. Among them both{~myen}(if), {-ya}(it is necessary that), {-ni(kka)}(because), and structures of sentences including these connectives will be under discussion in this paper. This paper is a generalized version of Lee, S.T.(1977a) and Lee, S.T.(1977b) which treated {-myen}and {-ya}respectively and is consequently expaned to{-ni(kka)}conditionals. 2.{-myen}, {-ya},{-ni(kka)} and their subcalss members are called 'maynun-kkol' (bound morepheme denoting condition) by traditional grammarians and sentences containing the connectives may be called 'conditionals', because the realtion of S1 to S2 tied by the connectives are illustrated as 'S1 is a condition of S2' The conditionals of (1) have the same constituent sentences, propositions and illocutionary force; 1) a. Kim sensayng-ka o-si-myen, Chelsu-lul ponay-kess-so? Mr.Kim Sbj,come if Obj. send Prsu.Qu. (If Mr. Kim(would) come, then would(you) send Chelsu(tol...)? b. Kim sensayng-ka o-si-ya, Chelsu-lul ponay-kess-so? it is necessary that (Is it necessary that Mr.Kim should come to send Chelsu?) c. Kim sensayun-ka o-si-ni(kka), Chelsu-lul ponay-kess-so? Sincd (Since Mr.Kim (have) come, will(you) send Chelsu?) Each connective in (1) has the meanaing of Pb predisposes Pa in common (where Pb stands for proposiposes Pa in common (where Pb stands for proposition of S2, and Pa for that of S1). Their differencs are that in (la) adn (lb) the propositions are subjunctive whereasin (lc) the ones are realized in uttered situation, and that in (lb) the 'condition' is necessary whereas in (la) is not. This native speakers intuition can be verified by negating the Pa's and Pb's of above sentences. In nevative version(2), the {-myen}only can occur as connective without any changes in meaning. In negating the Pa's and Pb's, if the connectiveis not chagned to {-myen}the meanings of negative versions are not indentical with the ones in (1) 2) Kim sensayug-ka an o-si-{myen, *nikka}, Chelsu-lul an ponay-kess-so? (If Mr.Kim would not come, then won't you send Chelsu?) This fact reveals that {-myen}is underlined in the meaning of both{-ya}and{-nikka}, and that th structure of {-myen}conditional shares with the one of (1). 3. In {-myen}connective sentence, the morpheme does not relate S1 to S2, but Pa to Pb. Comparing (la) to (2), the element that must be negated as a resultof negating the Pa is not performative "Question" but Pb. This relation can be specifie as follow' 3) Pb predisposes Pa. The italicized "predisposes" is an abstaract predicate which is a partof menaing conveyed in {-myen}. Another part fo meaning covered with the connective is "subjunctive". Let us examine sentence (4); 4) a. *ney-ka hay-lul masi-n-ta. you sun drink Ending. (*You drink the sun) b. *na-nun tal-kkaci ttwi-kess-ta. I Sbj, moon to leap (I (will) leap to the moon) c. ney-ka hay-lul masi-myen, na-nun tal-kkaci ttwi-kess-ta. (If you drink the sun, I should leap to the moon) In (4) the propositions of well-formed sentence (4c) are (4a) and (4b) which are not grammatical in their simplex forms (or at least they cannot be menaingful in real world). In real world one cannot drink the sun neither leap to the moon, but one can easily think of (or suppose) them. The Pa's and Pb's in conditionals are s upposition of speaker and it is another part of menaing that {-myen}has. 4. The meaning of (la) can be stated as follows; 5) a. The speaker thisnks that (5b) b. It is possible that (5c) c. Pb predisposes Pa. d. And. the speaker asks that (5e) e. Pb (=You send Chelsu...) The istalicized forms are abstract predicate of discomposed members covered with the connective. Now the semantic structure of the conditional can be drawn as follows; 6) a. (5a) is a performative (S1). b. (5b) is a complement dominated by (5a) and dominating (5c) c. (5c) is a constituent sentence in itself dominated by (5b) and in turn, dominating another complement Pa and Pb. d. "And" is a conjunctor dominated eithere by So or by S1. e. (5d) is another performative (S2) dominating(5e) f. (5e) is a constituent sentence equivalent to Pb. Relation of S1 to S2 is as shown in (6d) identified as logical conjunction and which must be other part of meaning of {-myen}. Another identification may be logical implication "if". Some discussions for the two methods were stated and the former method is preferred to the latter one in this paper. 5. The meanaing differential extracted from {-ya}in the above (1) is "necessity" and so the whole meaning of {-ya} may be described as (7a) replacing "necessity" wirth "possible" in (6). {-ni(kka)}no meaning of "possible" and/or necessary, plus "think" because it is not subjunctive. It may be described as (7b) 7) a.{-ya}=(((predispose)necessary)think)and) b.{-ni(kka)}=((predispose(and)) 6. Conclusions postulated from this paper will be applied to the study of "conditional-negative" sentences which Lee.S.T.(forthcoming) will treat.
난소절제후 Estrogen을 투여한 흰쥐 대동맥에서 Protein Kinase C-α와 Fas 발현의 변화

Estrogen is believed to decrease coronary artery disease. Protein kinase C-α(PKCα)appear to be important in signal conduction pathways. Estrogen treatment increases catalytic activity of PKCα,and activation of PKCαcan modulate estrogen receptor levels and responsiveness. And it was reported that activation of PKC can protect cells from apoptosis induced by Fas ligation. But the beneficial effect of estrogen on PKCαwas not clearly demonstrated. The objective of this study was to evaluate the role of PKCαafter ovariectomy and estrogen therapy in rat aorta. The results were summarized as below: 1. The significant pathological changes were not observed in the rat aorta irrelevant to ovariectomy and estrogen therapy. 2. The expression of Fas was decreased in the aorta of estrogen-treated rats than that of ovariectomized rats without estrogen therapy. 3. Increased expression of PKCαwas more marked in the aprta of estrogen-treated rats than that of ovariectomized rat without estrogen therapy. In conclusion,PKCαmay be important in signal conduation pathway on the effect of estrogen. Activation of PKCαby estrogen reduced Fas expression, suggesting that PKCαactivation may play a role in protection against atherasclerosis. Further studies are needed to elucidate the role of PKCαafter estrogen therapy.

연구목적 : 본 시험의 목적은 임상시험 시작전에 연구자들을 대상으로 PANSS Workshop을 통하여 PANSS, ESRS에 대한 국내에서의 표준화 작업을 구축하고 새로운 정신병 치료제인 리스페리돈의 효과와 안정성을 재확인하여 리스페리돈 사용에 대한 적정화를 이루는데 있다. 연구방법 : 1996년 4월부터 1996년 9월까지 국내 39개 대학병원 정신과에 입원중인 혹은 증상이 악화되어 입원하는 정신분열병 환자 377명을 대상으로 다시설 개방 연구를 시행하였다. 1주일간의 약물 배설기간을 가진후, 리스페리돈을 8주간 투여하였고, 기준점, 1주, 2주, 4주, 그리고 8주후에 평가되었다. 용량은 제1일에는 리스페리돈 1mg씩 1일 2회, 제2일에는 2mg씩 1일 2회, 제3∼7일에는 3mg씩 1일 2회 투여하였다. 이후 환자의 임상상태에 따라 임의로 증량할 수 있으며, 최대 일일 16mg을 초과하지 않도록 하였다. 추체외로 증상을 조절하기 위한 투약을 허용하였다. 임상증상 및 부작용의 평가는 PANSS(Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale), CGI(Clinical Global Impression) 그리고 ESRS(Extrapyramidal Symptom Rating Scale)을 사용하였다. 연구결과 : 377명중 343명(91%)이 8주간의 연구를 완결하였다. 치료 종결시점인 8주후 PANSS 총점수가 20% 이상 호전된 경우를 약물 반응군으로 정의할때, 약물반응군은 81.3%였다. 리스페리돈에 반응하는 예측인자로는 발병연령, 이전의 입원 횟수, 유병기간이 관련 있었다. 리스페리돈은 1주후부터 PANSS양성, 음성, 및 일반정신병리 점수상에 유의한 호전을 보여 효과가 빨랐다. CGI의 경우도 기준점에 비해 1주후부터 유의한 감소를 나타내었다. ESRS의 경우, 파킨슨 평가점수는 기준점과 비교해 투여 1주, 2주, 4주후 유의하게 증가되었다가 8주후 기준점과 차이가 없었다. Dystonia 평가점수는 1주후만 유의한 증가를 보였으며, dyskinesia 평가점수는 유의한 차이가 없었다. 혈압, 맥박수의 생명징후 및 일반 혈액학 검사, 생화학적 검사, 심전도 검사에서 유의한 변화는 없었다. 결 론 : 이상의 다시설 개방 임상 연구를 통해 리스페리돈은 정신분열병 환자에서 양성증상뿐만 아니라 음성증상 및 전반적인 증상에도 효과적인 것으로 사료된다. 보다 명확한 평가를 위해서는 다른 항정신병약물과의 이중맹검 연구가 필요할 것으로 생각되며, 또한 장기적 치료에 대한 평가도 함께 이루어져야 하겠다. Objective : The purpose of this study was to investigate the efficacy and safety of risperidone in the treatment of Korean schizophrenic patients. Method : This multicenter open study included 377 schizophrenic patients drawn from 39 university hospitals. After a wash-out period of 1 week, the schizophrenic patients were treated with risperidone for 8 weeks and evaluated at 5 points ; at baseline, and 1, 2, 4 and 8 weeks of treatment. The dose was increased from 2mg/day(1mg twice daily) to 6mg/day(3mg twice daily) during the first week and adjusted to a maximum of 16mg/day over the next 7 weeks according to the patient's clinical response. Medication to control extrapyramidal symptoms was permitted. The psychiatric and neurological status of the patients was assessed by PANSS, CGI, and ESRS scales. Results : 343(91%) of 377 patients completed the 8-week trial period. Clinical improvement, as defined by a 20% or more reduction in total PANSS score at end point, was shown by 81.3% of patients. The predictors of response to risperidone were associated older age, shorter duration of illness, fewer previous hospitalization. Risperidone had rapid onset of action ; a significant decrease of the total PANSS and three PANSS factor(positive, negative, general), and CGI was already noticed at the end of first week. For the ESRS, parkinsonism rating scores were significantly increased until week 4 comparing with baseline. Dystonia rating scores were significantly increased until week 1, and dyskinesia rating scores were not significantly changed during the study. Laboratory parameters including vital sign, EKG, hematological, and biochemical values showed no significant changes during the trial. Conclusions : This study suggests that risperidone is generally safe and effective against both the positive and negative symptoms in our group of patients.
