      • Internal jugular vein thrombosis following ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome: A case report and review

        Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) is a phenomenon comprising ovarian enlargement and formation of ascitic fluid from the intravascular space, usually following ovarian stimulation for assisted reproductive techniques. It is usually mild but can be rarely fatal (1-2%). Deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a thromboembolic event, is one of the fatal complications of OHSS. During pregnancy, DVT is more common in the lower extremities than in the upper extremities. However, DVT associated with OHSS occurs more in the upper extremities. Thrombosis in the internal jugular vein is generally considered rare. Few cases of internal jugular vein thrombosis associated with OHSS have been reported in Korea. In this paper, we present a case of internal jugular vein thrombosis following OHSS. Our patient had recent in vitro fertilization for secondary infertility due to polycystic ovarian syndrome for two years. On the day her presentation to the hospital, she was 7 weeks 4 days pregnant with triple pregnancy. Doppler ultrasonography on the day of admission showed a massive thrombus of the right internal jugular vein. We have reported a rare case of internal jugular vein thrombosis following OHSS. Upper-extremity DVT, presenting early in pregnancy, seems to be of great relevance to the use of ART alone or in conjunction with OHSS. Nevertheless, the relationship between ART and/or OHSS and upper-extremity DVT remains unclear and more studies would be required to elucidate this relationship.

        The OH molecule is a highly reactive combustion intermediate and relatively abundant in combustion systems. It also has the availability of convenient UV -laser systems to excite the A²Σ-X²?? electronic transition. The spectroscopic parameters describing this transition are well known. In this research, the OH molecule was measured in the laminar flame burner and constant volume combustion chamber(CVCC) in order to use it as the fundamental data for studying combustion phenomena. The LIF images of the OH molecule in the laminar 리ame burner were caught by using KrF excimer laser and ICCD camera. The natural fluorescence<br/> of OH was also measured by the interference filter(310 nm) and spectrometer in the CVCC at different equivalence ratios.

        기우제의(祈雨祭儀)를 통해 본 영남 지방관의 일상과 대민의식

        Through this article, I investigated how Youngnam reeves performed ritual for rain as a official business. To do this I focused on the rituals of Chaewon Oh Hoing-Mook (1834~?), who was reeve of Youngnam province. Oh`s ritual was official, but dynamic and flexible. In a aspect Oh`s ritual for rain was one of his routine jobs. In other aspect, through his ritual, Oh tried to establish social integration with consideration for the subjects. The ritual for rain was performed when drought kept going on. In this natural crisis. he held the ceremony to meet the subjects face by face. Through two additional ritual, especially, he preserved social order, and took care of the subjects preferentially. All social class people can also meet each other in the ritual. Performing the ritual with highly established form, he also gave great concern to the subjects. He gained sympathy of the subjects`s pain, and paid fruits or money. He also minimized the subjects`s burden loaded to them. In these his routine rituals, I can know that reeves shared their joy with the subjects and communicated each other. It is fundamental procedure to choose ritual place, to prepare things needed in the ceremony, and to write a ritual oration in the official ritual. It is common to prepare ritual place, things needed in ritual, and order of ritual according to law books. The ritual was based on Conficianism, therefore taboos or belief system of official ceremony was less restricted than those of private ceremony. One of remarkable thing is ritual oration. After 13th ritual, the two additional rituals was executed. In those rituals, the formality of orations were less strict than that of previous 13 rituals. He showed his wish for raining with the ritual oration, which had long sentences and flexible contents. Reeves usually understood the Mother Nature in aspect of Confucianism. Eventually, reeves recognized the relationship between God and human as a reciprocal interaction.

        It is shown that the effect of variable parameters on flame structures and NOx emissions in the laminar<br/> partially premixed methane-air flames with a co-axial Bunsen burner. Objectives of this paper is to<br/> understand the effects of flow variables on NOx emissions and the flame structure with OH<br/> chemiluminescence, including reconstructed image by abel inversion processing at each conditions. A fuel<br/> flowrate of 200 [cc/min] was fixed and the amount of air was varied from 400 to 1200 [cc/min]. The<br/> experimental variables were equivalence ratio( ), fuel split percentage( ) and inner tube recess(x/D). Flow<br/> conditions were ranged from 1.36~4.76(equivalence ratio), 50~100(fuel split percentage) and 0~20(inner<br/> tube recess). NOx analyzer and ICCD camera with a OH filter were used as a main experimental<br/> apparatus. In addition, Abel inversion, which is a kind of tomography and valuable to estimate a<br/> two-dimensional structure of co-axial flames from cubical information, was employed for combustion<br/> diagnostics. Results from this study indicate that the main effects depend on equivalence ratio and next<br/> sigma, x/D for NOx production and OH formation. Throughout Abel inversion, we could affirm the<br/> maximum position and the tendency of OH radical intensity by variants at five axial heights above the<br/> burner exit.

        성인의 구강건강문해력과 구강건강관련 삶의 질의 관계

        Objectives: The purpose of this study was to assess the impact of oral health literacy on oral healthrelatedquality of life (OHRQoL). Methods: Self-administered questionnaires were handed out to 760 adults above the age of 18 selectedthrough convenience sampling. Among them, those above 60 years of age were also interviewedface-to-face. The Rapid Estimate of Adult Literacy in Dentistry (REALD-99) and the Test of FunctionalHealth Literacy in Dentistry (TOFHLiD) were used to measure verbal and functional oral health literacyrespectively. OHRQoL was measured using the oral health impact profile-14 (OHIP-14), a simplified versionof the oral health impact profile (OHIP). The sociodemographic characteristics (gender, age, maritalstatus, education level, and income) were also recorded. Higher scores on oral health literacy representedhigher levels of literacy, while higher OHIP-14 scores implied that the OHRQoL was lower. Results: During analyses, the sample was stratified into the top and bottom 25% based on functionaloral health literacy levels. OHRQoL had a statistically significant negative correlation with functionaloral health literacy. The items on functional limitation, physical disability, social disability, and handicapspecifically showed negative correlations. Multiple regression analysis was performed after includingsociodemograhic variables also. Only functional and not verbal oral health literacy had a statisticallysignificant influence on OHRQoL. The higher the functional oral health literacy level, the higher was theOHRQoL. Conclusions: Enhancement of functional oral health literacy level through oral health education is necessaryto improve the OHRQoL.

        Protective Effects of Portulaca oleracea L. Extract against Matrix Metalloproteinase Production and Reactive Oxygen Species Generation Induced by Ultraviolet B Radiation in Human Keratinocytes

        쇠비름(Portulaca oleracea.L)은 쇠비름과에 속하는 한해살이풀로서 리놀렌산과 같은 불포화지방산, 페놀성 화합물, 플라보노이드, 비타민 C, 미네랄 함량이 높은 것으로 보고되어 있다. 본 연구에서는 쇠비름 추출물을 이용하여 UVB를 조사한 인간각질형성세포에서 광노화 억제능을 확인하였다. Matrix metalloproteinases는 세포의 기질을 분해하는 효소로 MMP-1는 collagenase, MMP-2와 MMP-9는 gelatinases로 피부 진피층을 구성하는 type Ⅰ collagen을 분해시키는데 영향을 미친다. UVB를 조사한 인간각질형성세포에서 쇠비름 추출물을 처리했을 때 MMP-1, -2, -9의 발현이 감소하였으며, type Ⅰ procollagen의 발현은 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 쇠비름 추출물을 처리한 군에서 UV에 의한 ROS 생성이 감소하였는데 이는 Nrf-2의 활성화를 통한 항산화 인자 SOD-1과 OH-1의 발현 증가로 인해 세포내 ROS 생성이 감소한 것으로 사료된다. 따라서 본 연구 결과를 통해 쇠비름 추출물이 UVB를 조사한 인간각질형성세포에서 MMP 인자 및 항산화 인자의 발현 조절을 통해 광노화로부터의 세포 보호능을 가지는 것을 확인하였으며 나아가 화장품 소재로서의 개발 가능성을 확인하였다. Portulaca oleracea L. is an edible plant widely consumed in daily diet throughout Europe, Asia and America. In this study, protective effects of P. oleracea L. extracts against oxidative stress and matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) activity induced by ultraviolet B (UVB) radiation were investigated using HaCaT immortal human keratinocytes. In this context, the mRNA and protein productions of MMPs (MMP-1, -2, and -9) and type I procollagen, which are major markers of photoaging induced by UVB radiation in HaCaT keratinocytes, were evaluated. Furthermore, UVB-induced reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation and mRNA and protein expression levels of superoxide dismutase-1 (SOD-1), oxygenase-1 (OH-1), and nuclear factor-erythroid 2-related factor-2 (Nrf-2), all of which are associated with the antioxidant balance, were investigated. As shown by the results, UVB radiation induced ROS formation and led to increased production of MMPs and decreased collagen production in human keratinocytes, which resulted in skin photoaging or photodamage. The treatment with P. oleracea L. extracts downregulated MMP (MMP-1, -2, and -9) production and upregulated type I procollagen expression in UVB-induced HaCaT cells. Furthermore, treatment with the extracts decreased UVB-induced ROS generation and increased the expression of antioxidant enzymes, such as SOD-1 and OH-1, through the Nrf-2 pathway. Taken together, these results suggest that P. oleracea L. extracts could be a potential cosmeceutical agent for the prevention of skin photoaging or photodamage.

      • Equaatiorial-Skew [Co(TRDTRA)(OH₂)] 착물과 CN, NO₂그리고 NCS 이온간의 치환반응

        Equatorial-Skew형[Co(TRDTRA)(OH₂)]착물과 ??,?? 그리고 ?? 이온 간의 치환반응결과 생성된 차물의 치환반응성 및 구조를 전자흡수 스펙트럼과 Yamatera 이론에 따라 조사하였다. 속도론적 자료로부터 착물과 ??,?? 그리고 ?? 이온의 반응차수는 각각 1차이며 총괄 반응차수는 2차임을 알 수 있었다. ?? 및 ?? 이온에서 생성된 착물의 구조는 이성질화 반응이 동반된 Polar-Chair 형이며, ?? 이온의 경우에는 이성질화 반응이 동반되지 않은 Equatorial-Skew 형임을 알 수 있었다. The substitution reaction and structrue of products obtained from the reaction of Equatorial-Skew-[Co(TRDTRA)(OH??)](TRDTRA=trimethylenediaminetriacetate) with ??,??, and NCS ions have been investigated by means of electronic absorption spectroscopy and theoretical calculation based on the Yamatera`s theory. According to kinetic data, the substitution reaction order for the complexes such as ??,?? and ?? was the first order, respectively, and overall reaction order was second order. It has been determined that the structure of products having ?? and ?? ions was Polar-Chair type complexes which were accompanying with isomerization and having ?? ion was Equatorial-Skew type complex which was not accompanying with isomerization.

      • Cu<sup>2+</sup> sequestration by amine-functionalized silica nanotubes

        A novel method for Cu<SUP>2+</SUP> sequestration in Cu<SUP>2+</SUP> aqueous solution has been demonstrated using amine-functionalized double-walled silica nanotubes (DWSNTs). Herein, the precipitation method and the adsorption method are combined to remove Cu<SUP>2+</SUP> in the Cu<SUP>2+</SUP> aqueous solution. Primary (1<SUP>o</SUP>), secondary (2<SUP>o</SUP>), tertiary (3<SUP>o</SUP>), di-, tri-amines are immobilized on the surface of DWSNT as the adsorption site. The results show that the Cu<SUP>2+</SUP> adsorption amount on the amine-functionalized DWSNTs is in the following order: tri-amine>di-amine>1<SUP>o</SUP> amine>2<SUP>o</SUP> amine>3<SUP>o</SUP> amine. The complexed Cu<SUP>2+</SUP>s with the amine-functionalized DWSNTs become Cu(OH)<SUB>2</SUB> crystals due to the reaction with OH<SUP>-</SUP>s dissociated from water. Thus, the amine-functionalized DWSNTs show the superior sequestration capacity of Cu<SUP>2+</SUP> in the Cu<SUP>2+</SUP> aqueous solution owing to the Cu(OH)<SUB>2</SUB> crystals growth on them. FT-IR, FEG-SEM, HR-TEM, and XRD studies demonstrate the mechanism of the Cu<SUP>2+</SUP> adsorption and the Cu(OH)<SUB>2</SUB> crystals growth. The crystallization-technique of the heavy metal ion on the amine-functionalized DWSNTs is also expected to have potential applications such as the facile synthesis of nano- and microparticles, and the metal catalyst supporter.

      • Laminar Lifted Methane Jet Flames in Co-flow Air

        The Laminar lifted methane jet flames diluted with helium and nitrogen in co-flow air have been investigated experimentally. The chemiluminescence intensities of OH* and CH₂O* radicals and the radius of curvature for tri-brachial flame were measured using an intensified charge coupled device (ICCD) camera, monochromator and digital video camera. The product of OH* and CH₂O* is used as a excellent proxy of heat release rate. These methane jet flames could be lifted in buoyancy and jet dominated regimes despite the Schmidt number less than unity. Lifted flames were stabilized due to buoyancy induced convection in buoyancy-dominated regime. It was confirmed that increased OH* and CH₂O* concentration caused an increase of edge flame speed via enhanced chemical reaction in buoyancy dominated regime. In jet momentum dominated regime lifted flames were observed even for nozzle exit velocities much higher than stoichiometric laminar flame speed. An increase in radius of curvature in addition to the increased OH* and CH₂O* concentration stabilizes such lifted flames.

        ALD법으로 제조된 Al₂O₃막의 유전적 특성

        지금까지 주로 사용해 오던 TMA(trimethylaluminum, Al(CH₃)₃)와 H₂O를 사용하여 ALD(Atomic Layer Deposition)법으로 증착시킨 Al₂O₃막내의 OH^-기는 Al₂O₃의 우수한 물성을 악화시키는 불순물 역할을 하므로, 이를 개선하기 위하여 본 연구에서는 TMA 와 오존(ozone, O₃)을 이용하여 Al₂O₃막을 증착한 후, 산화제 소스로 H₂O와 O₃을 각각 사용했을 때 그것들이 Al₂O₃막의 유전적 특성에 끼치는 효과에 관하여 비교 조사하였다. XPS 분석결과 O₃를 사용한 Al₂O₃막은 H₂O를 사용할 때와는 다르게 OH^-기가 감소됨을 관찰할 수 있었다. 화학적 안정성(chemical inertness)의 척도가 되는 wet 에칭율 또한 O₃를 사용한 Al₂O₃막의 경우가 더욱 우수하게 나타났다. TiN을 상부전극으로 한 MIS (metal-insulator-silicon) capacitor 구조로 제작된 Al₂O₃막의 경우 H₂O를 사용한 경우 보다 O₃를 사용한 경우에 누설전류밀도가 더 낮았고, 절연특성이 더 우수하였으며, H₂O보다 O₃를 사용했을 때 C-V 전기적이력(hystersis) 곡선의 편차(deviation)가 감소하는 것으로 보아 전기적특성이 더 향상되었음을 알 수 있었다. In the present study Al₂O₃ films were deposited by the ALD technique using trimethylaluminum(TMA) and ozone to improve the quality of the Al₂O₃ films, since the OH^- radicals existing in the Al₂O₃ films deposited using TMA and H₂O degrade the physical and the dielectric properties of the Al₂O₃ film. The XPS analysis results indicate that the OH^- radical concentration in the Al₂O₃ film deposited using O₃ is lower than that using H₂O. The etch rate of the Al₂O₃ film deposited using O₃ is also lower than that using H₂O, suggesting that the chemical inertness of the former is better than the latter. The MIS capacitor fabricated with the TiN conductor and the Al₂O₃ dielectrics formed using O₃ offers lower leakage current, better insulating property and smaller flat band voltage shift (?VFB).
