        양파 농축액이 고지혈증 성인 남자의 체성분, 혈장 전해질 및 지질 성분에 미치는 영향

        It is known as that onion is antioxidation effect, antibiotic effect, blood pressure decreasing effect and reducing serum cholesterol levels. This research about effect that onion concentrate gets blood cholesterol levels and body composition. Subject was 17 adult men of hyperlipidemia. Age distribution of investigation subjects were average 49.4 years old by 40 ~ 56 years old, and average height and weight were 167.6 cm and 75.5 kg each, BMI was 26.9 kg/㎡, and BMR was 1,460.6±87.5kcal, and AMC was 25.0±1.05cm, and BCM was 41.0±2.79cm. In the meantime, the body muscle was 53.7±3.7kg, and fat mass was 18.7±3.8kg, and intracellular fluid was 26.6±1.8kg, and extracellular fluid was 12.8±0.9kg. The % body fat was 24.6±3.8% , and fat distribution was 0.9±0.0%, and the obesity degree was 125.4±8.2%. Vegetables, seaweeds, fruits and juices increased by change of dietary life and greasy foods, instants, breads, rices etc. decreased or there was no change, fast foods and eggs were no change. Also, subject previewed that guidance about stress, smoking, drinking and beverage intake need. If compared the nutrient intake amount with before onion concentrate allowance, it was similar level almost without significant. Energy, calcium and riboflavin are lower than the RDA for koreans. After 3 months, the levels of plasma total cholesterol, triglycerides had decreased significantly : 15.0%, 31.2% respectively. And the HDL-cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol levels also showed a marked reduction of 6.8%, 8.7% respectively. Plasma lipid level change by onion concentrate supplement would can know that case of triglyceride more greatly than plasma cholesterol. The pH and Na^+ level of plasma were low significant since 8 weeks after, and K^+ level increase significant. While Ca^++ level was low significant after 1 month , there was no change since 2 months after, but nCa^++ level was low significantly. Plasma Mg^++ level was no change and nMg^++ level was low significant after intake.

      • A Study on the Output Stabilization of the Nd:YAG Laser by the Monitoring of Capacitor Charging Voltage

        The Nd: YAG laser is commonly used throughout many fields such as accurate material processing, IC marking, semiconductor annealing, medical operation devices, etc., due to the fact that it has good thermal and mechanical properties and is easy to maintain. In materials processing, it is essential to vary the laser power density for specific materials. The laser power density can be mainly controlled by the current pulse width and pulse repetition rate. It is important to control the laser energy in those fields using a pulsed laser. In this paper we propose the constant-frequency current resonant half-bridge converter and monitoring of capacitor charging voltage. This laser power supply is designed and fabricated to have less switching loss, compact size, isolation with primary and secondary transformers, and detection of capacitor charging voltage. Also, the output stabilization characteristics of this Nd: YAG laser system are investigated. The test results are described as a function of laser output energy and flashlamp arc discharging constant. At the energy storage capacitor charges constant voltage, the laser output power is 2.3% error range in 600[V].

        임상간호사의 전문직자아개념과 간호전문화에 대한 인식 및 태도와의 관계연구

        This study was conducted to find the level of Korean nurses' professional self-concept and to validate the PSCNI too. Also, we had a goal to understand the Korean nurses opinion and attitudes about nursing specialization. The research subjects were 1200 clinical nurses in Korea, who attended the academic conference of KNC on nursing specialization from March to November 1995. We used the tool of research developed from demographic items concerning opinion, attitudes on specialization and PSCNI (30items). Research findings were as follows : (1) The credibility of PSCNI was very high(Cronbach's alpha=0,933211). The results of validity test showed that professional self concept consisted of 4 factors : competence, satisfaction, confidence, empathy. These factors reflected 'caring' as the core element of nursing. (2) The average item score of PSCNI was 3.02. This means that professionalism of Korean nurses has not yet been established. The high scoring items were "I don't believe I am particularly empathic", "I think it is important to share emotions with patients", "I feel more comfortable not getting too emotionally close to the people I work with". This finding suggested the need to gain the skill of empathy in the clinical and educational setting. (3) The majority of subjects wanted to establish nursing specialization, which included 6 types of Medical-Surgical nursing, Maternity-Child nursing, Psychiatric-Mental health nursing, Geriatric nursing, and Community nursing. These 6 types were presented by ICN. They think nursing specialization should be settled by the needs of clients first. (4) Resistered nurses should be called "general nurse(GN)", general nurses who complete the training courses in Anesthetics, Psychiatric-Mental health, and Home Care for one year, then receive the certificates issued by the government, called "certified nurse(CN)". Those certified nurses who complete the specialized master of nursing science program, which includes advanced nursing science program, which includes advanced nursing theory course, clinical experiences, and research methodology should be called "advanced practice nurse(APN)". (5) There is no clear difference between opinion and attitudes of the standards and criteria of training institution, training period, whether or not the certification test, test supervising institution certification test, test supervising institution certificates. (6) There is a significant deference between PSCNI and the opinion and attitudes on nursing specialization. The nurses who had positive PSCNI revealed high motivation to be a CN, or APN and had a specific plan. In conclusion, to gain the professional self-concept, nurses should be socialized continuously through role modeling in basic nursing education, clinical nursing and research.

        Detection of Malignant Cells in Pleural Fluid or Ascites by CD44v8 - 10 / CD44v10 competitive RT - PCR

        N/A Background : CD44 is a cell surface adhesion molecule which has been implicated in various biologic functions as lymphocyte homing and activation, cellular migration and extracellular matrix adhesion. Over-expression of CD44v8- 10 has been found in several cancers and is considered to be associated with tumor progression and metastasis. Recently, a novel molecular method, CD44v8- 10/CD44v10 competitive reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR) has been developed for detecting cancer cells over-expressing CD44v8-10. Methods : We analyzed from benign and malignant pleural effusion and ascites by CD44 competitive RT-PCR and compared to the conventional cytology. Results : The CD44 competitive RT-PCR analysis showed that all the 24 samples associated with benign disease presented a predominant expression of the CD44v10 transcript (v8-10/v10 ratio: 0.126-0.948), whereas 6 of 7 malignant pleural samples associated with cytology positive cancer expressed the CD44v8-10 transcript (v8-10/v10 ratio > 1.00). Conclusion : These results indicate that CD44 competitive RT-PCR assay is a useful and adjunct to cytological examination in cancer diagnosis, especially in detecting exfoliated cancer cells in pleural effusion.

        Photoprotective Potential of Penta-O-Galloyl-β-D-Glucose by Targeting NF-κB and MAPK Signaling in UVB Radiation-Induced Human Dermal Fibroblasts and Mouse Skin

        Exposure of the skin to ultraviolet radiation can cause skin damage with various pathological changes including inflammation. In the present study, we identified the skin-protective activity of 1,2,3,4,6-penta-O-galloyl-${\beta}$-D-glucose (pentagalloyl glucose, PGG) in ultraviolet B (UVB) radiation-induced human dermal fibroblasts and mouse skin. PGG exhibited antioxidant activity with regard to intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation as well as ROS and reactive nitrogen species (RNS) scavenging. Furthermore, PGG exhibited anti-inflammatory activity, inhibiting the activation of nuclear factor-kappaB (NF-${\kappa}B$) and mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling, resulting in inhibition of the expression of pro-inflammatory mediators. Topical application of PGG followed by chronic exposure to UVB radiation in the dorsal skin of hairless mice resulted in a significant decrease in the progression of inflammatory skin damages, leading to inhibited activation of NF-${\kappa}B$ signaling and expression of pro-inflammatory mediators. The present study demonstrated that PGG protected from skin damage induced by UVB radiation, and thus, may be a potential candidate for the prevention of environmental stimuli-induced inflammatory skin damage.

        Advanced Onset of Puberty in High-Fat Diet-Fed Immature Female Rats : Activation of KiSS-1 and GnRH Expression in the Hypothalamus

        In mammals, puberty is a dynamic transition process from infertile immature state to fertile adult state. The neuroendocrine aspect of puberty is started with functional activation of hypothalamus-pituitary-gonadal hormone axis. The timing of puberty can be altered by many factors including hormones and/or hormone-like materials, social cues and metabolic signals. For a long time, attainment of a particular body weight or percentage of body fat has been thought as crucial determinant of puberty onset. However, the precise effect of high-fat (HF) diet on the regulation of hypothalamic GnRH neuron during prepubertal period has not been fully elucidated yet. The present study was undertaken to test the effect of a HF diet on the puberty onset and hypothalamic gene expressions in immature female rats. The HF diet (45% energy from fat, HF group) was applied to female rats from weaning to around puberty onset (postnatal days, PND 22-40). Body weight and vaginal opening (VO) were checked daily during the entire feeding period. In the second experiment, all animals were sacrificed on PND 36 to measure the weights of reproductive tissues. Histological studies were performed to assess the effect of HF diet feeding on the structural alterations in the reproductive tissues. To determine the transcriptional changes of reproductive hormone-related genes in hypothalamus, total RNAs were extracted and applied to the semi-quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). Body weights of HF group animals tend to be higher than those of control animals between PND 22 and PND 31, and significant differences were observed PND 32, PND 34, PND 35 and PND 36 (p<0.05). Advanced VO was shown in the HF group (PND p<0.001) compared to the control (PND ). The weight of ovaries (p<0.01) and uteri (p<0.05) from HF group animals significantly increased when compared to those from control animals. Corpora lutea were observed in the ovaries from the HF group animals but not in control ovaries. Similarly, hypertrophy of luminal and glandular uterine epithelia was found only in the HF group animals. In the semi-quantitative RT-PCR studies, the transcriptional activities of KiSS-1 in HF group animals were significantly higher than those from the control animals (p<0.001). Likewise, the mRNA levels of GnRH (p<0.05) were significantly elevated in HF group animals. The present study indicated that the feeding HF diet during the post-weaning period activates the upstream modulators of gonadotropin such as GnRH and KiSS-1 in hypothalamus, resulting early onset of puberty in immature female rats.
