Synthetic zinc chlorins possessing a hydrophylic polyoxyethylene chain at the 17 -position were prepared. An amphiphilic zinc chlorin possessing a single chIorin moiety showed absorption maxima at 675 nm in an aqueous medium, indicating that the zinc chIorin did not form large aggregates but a dimeric structure. In contrast, amphiphilic zinc chlorin dyads in which two zinc chlorin moieties were connected with a hydrophilic polyoxyethylene linkage showed red-shifted absorption band around 720-740 nm in an aqueous medium. The result indicated that the amphiphilic zinc chlorin dyad self-aggregated to form chlorosome-like oligomer.

Swarming and mating behaviors of a mayfly species, Ephemera orientalis Mclachlan, 1875 were observed in 2015, 2016, and 2018 at a river bank of the Asahi River, Japan. Males started to make swarms between late April and middle May in 2016 and 2018. The numbers of mated pairs in a swarm correlated with the numbers of flying males in a swarm in 2016 and 2018. Swarms were formed during a limited period at dusk most probably because that interval is free from natural enemies. Males competed with each other to copulate with females in swarms. We clarified the function of the forelegs of males, which are significantly longer than those of females. Males used their forelegs to hold up a female from below. Besides forelegs, males have longer tails than females. We will discuss why sexual differences are found in these traits. Our results represent the first observation of swarm mating behavior in E. orientalis.
Evaluation Method of Steering Feeling Based on Emotion Model

In this study, the evaluation method of steering feeling based on an emotion model is proposed. Three types of steering wheel angletorque characteristics were prepared, and the experiment was conducted using the driving simulator. ECG and EEG were measured during the experiment and the corresponding relationship between physiological indices and Kansei evaluation values was analyzed using multiple regression analysis. As a result, the possibility was shown that the driver's emotion could be estimated by classifying the participants. Next, we hypothesized that it would be possible to encourage the driver to express various emotions and to estimate emotions not only in the uncomfortable direction but also in the comfortable direction by adding the dynamic motion of the vehicle in relation to the driver's steering input. Therefore, in order to investigate the effect of vehicle motion on emotions, the experiment with and without motion was performed. As a result, it was found that the level of discomfort decreased in the condition with motion, suggesting the possibility to evaluate the emotion in the comfortable direction by adding motion of the vehicle.

Magnetically levitated conveying system using superconductors has a demerit that it is not able to change thelevitation height between levitated vehicle and magnetic rail. In this study, we tried to improve this demerit by applying pulsed-field magnetization to the system. We made a prototype of magnetically levitated conveying system based onnumerical analysis.

Photovoltaic generation systems need MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) control because the output power depends on the operating voltage and current. Therefore, many researchers propose various types of MPPT control methods. A new MPPT control scheme is proposed in this paper in order to realize higher efficiency with simple calculation. The line search algorithm with flbonacci sequence which is one of the optimizing method is employed for the MPPT. The line search method is modified for real-time operation. The method is verified by simulations and experiments. It is concluded that the scheme can respond fast variation of irradiance.<br/>
