Objectives : Neurobiological and pharmacological research has suggested that the dysregulation of the central noradrenergic systems might be involved in the pathophysiology of ADHD. The aim of this study was to examine the association of the alpha-1C-adrenergic receptor gene (ADRA1C) with ADHD in Korean subjects. Methods : In a case-control study, we assessed 186 DSM-IV ADHD probands and 150 normal controls. One hundred and eight trios were studied in a family-based association analysis. Psychiatric diagnoses were derived through structured diagnostic interviews. For the clinical evaluation of the ADHD subjects, the Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL), the ADHD Rating Scale-IV (ARS) and the Junior Temperament and Character Inventory (JTCI) were administered. A computerized continuous performance test (CPT) was used to measure the inattention and impulsivity of the ADHD children. Results : There were no significant differences in the genotype or allele frequencies of the ADRA1C PstI polymorphism between the ADHD and control group (p>0.05). The transmission disequilibrium test (TDT) analysis observed no evidence for biased transmission of any of the alleles of the PstI polymorphism. There were no significant differences in the CPT or JTCI profiles between those ADHD subjects with the CC genotype and those with the other (CT+TT) genotypes at the PstI polymorphism. Conclusion : The results of this study do not support the ADRA1C as a major genetic susceptibility factor in ADHD.
서사의 ‘언어적 재현’ - 서사담론에 대한 미하일 바흐친의 메타언어학적 접근 -

본 논문에서는 서사의 ‘언어적 재현’(speech representation) 개념을 면밀히 살펴보고, 이 개념이 현대 서사 연구에서 갖는 의미를 짚어본다. 서사학에서 서사의 언어적 재현 개념은 단순히 서사를 구성하는 일련의 사건을 언어화하는 것을 의미하지 않는다. 서사의 언어적 재현은 서사성의 정의와 서사 구조의 특징과 닿아 있으며, 서사 텍스트 내부에서 일어나는 언어적 상호작용을 다룬다. 이를 위해서는 미하일 바흐친(М.М. Бахтин)의 ‘메타언어학’에 대한 이해가 필요한데, 바흐친의 이론은 두 발화 간의 관계를 설명하는데 필수적이다. 바흐친의 메타언어학은 ‘발화’를 최소 단위로 설정하여 의사소통 과정에서 형성되는 문맥적 의미와 상호작용을 연구의 영역으로 들여왔다. 또한 ‘묘사하는 언어’와 ‘묘사되는 언어’ 간의 상호관계를 입체적으로 다루고 있어 서사의 담론성을 담지한 서사의 언어적 재현 개념을 설명하는 데 있어 핵심적인 이론적 근거를 제공한다. The article explores the peculiarities of speech representation in narrative text and proposes Mikhail Bakhtin’s Metalinguistics as a theoretical framework for studying representation of narrative discourse. In modern narratology, the term “speech representation” considers the means by which a narrator conveys a character’s speech. This term is used to describe relationship between two different utterances; that is, the narrator’s text and the character’s text. We can use it to help us adequately understand the interaction of two different speeches in narrative text. This kind of speech interaction is also a topic of concern for M. M. Bakhtin. He drew attention to dialogical relationship between utterances in literature and clearly defined language in novel as a medium of literature and, at the same time, an object of art description. Moreover, Bakhtin proposed metalinguistics as a new methodology of language that study utterance as a units of speech communication, discourse genre, and the relation between text and context. His metalinguistic approach plays an important role in the study of speech interference in narrative text.

The free-standing single crystal tetramethyltetraselenafulvalene (TMTSF) has been grown with physical vapor deposition (PVD) technique. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis shows that both the metallic (TMTSF)2PF6 and the semiconducting TMTSF have a triclinic crystal structure with a P-1 space group. The TMTSF single crystal forms a brick wall like stacking structure within the ac-plane, which reduces the overall anisotropy of the system. The intrinsic electrical transport properties of the semiconducting TMTSF were probed, utilizing a polymer-based field effect transistor. The TMTSF organic semiconductor exhibited a typical p-type semiconducting characteristics. The field effect mobility was obtained as 3.96 cm2/Vs, which is an order of magnitude higher than the value reported previously for single crystal TMTSF. Multi-block Analysis of Genomic Data Using Generalized Canonical Correlation Analysis

Recently, there have been many studies in medicine related to genetic analysis. Many genetic studies have been performed to find genes associated with complex diseases. To find out how genes are related to disease, we need to understand not only the simple relationship of genotypes but also the way they are related to phenotype. Multi-block data, which is a summation form of variable sets, is used for enhancing the analysis of the relationships of different blocks. By identifying relationships through a multi-block data form, we can understand the association between the blocks in comprehending the correlation between them. Several statistical analysis methods have been developed to understand the relationship between multi-block data. In this paper, we will use generalized canonical correlation methodology to analyze multi-block data from the Korean Association Resource project, which has a combination of single nucleotide polymorphism blocks, phenotype blocks, and disease blocks.
