Regular exercise and a certain level of physical activity reduce the mortality rate in the elderly. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of physical activity on the prevention of fracture in the middle aged or older in Korea. The basic data are based on the Ansan and Ansung community cohort studies of the Korean Genome and Epidemiology Study conducted by the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in 2001, and the fracture data from the third survey in 2005 to the sixth survey in 2011. The physical activity of the aged in the 40s was mostly distributed in the World Health Organization (WHO) recommended range of 7.5 to 30.0 metabolic equivalent·hr/wk, and the activity was gradually divided into the low and high groups in the 50s and 60s. In the 60s, the risk of fracture was reduced to 0.63 times compared to that of the 50s when physical activity was the recommended level (odds ratio, 0.63; p<0.001). For Korean adults, there was no significant difference in fracture incidence according to the amount of physical activity in the middle-aged people. However, for the elderly aged 60 and over, the risk of fracture decreased when the WHO recommended level of activity was performed, and the risk increased when less or more activities were performed.

Background: Aptamers are currently being used in various fields including medical treatments due to their characteristics of selectively binding to specific molecules. Due to their special characteristics, the aptamers are expected to be used to remove radionuclides from a large amount of liquid radioactive waste generated during the decommissioning of nuclear power plants. The radiological effects on the aptamers should be evaluated to ensure their integrity for the application of a radionuclide removal technique. Materials and Methods: In this study, Monte Carlo N-Particle transport code version 6 (MCNP6) and Monte Carlo damage simulation (MCDS) codes were employed to evaluate the radiological effects on the aptamers. MCNP6 was used to evaluate the secondary electron spectrum and the absorbed dose in a medium. MCDS was used to calculate the DNA damage by using the secondary electron spectrum and the absorbed dose. Binding experiments were conducted to indirectly verify the results derived by MCNP6 and MCDS calculations. Results and Discussion: Damage yields of about 5.00×10-4 were calculated for 100 bp aptamer due to the radiation dose of 1 Gy. In experiments with radioactive materials, the results that the removal rate of the radioactive 60Co by the aptamer is the same with the non-radioactive 59Co prove the accuracy of the previous DNA damage calculation. Conclusion: The evaluation results suggest that only very small fraction of significant number of the aptamers will be damaged by the radioactive materials in the liquid radioactive waste.

GNN기반 Incremental Learning 과제에서 가장 큰 두 가지 과제는 새로운 데이터가 추가되었을 때 새로운 패턴을 찾는 것이고, 그 와중에 이전 데이터의 패턴을 잃지 않는 것이다. 본 논문에서는 GNN의 Incremental Learning에서 데이터 샘플링을 통해 보다 효율적인 GNN 재학습 방식을 제안한다. 세부적으로 새로운 데이터에 영향을 받은 노드들에 대해 Betweenness Centrality를 통한 Importance Sampling, 영향받지 않은 노드들에 대해선 기존 네트워크에 형성된 클러스터를 활용한 균형 있는 Importance Sampling을 통해 네트워크를 새로운 데이터에 적용하면서도 기존 데이터의 패턴을 잃지 않으려고 한다. Most Importance two aspect of training GNNs through incremental learning are adapting the network to encompass new data while evading catastrophic forgetting. We propose a strategy to sample data nodes so as to efficiently train incrementally. Specifically, we conduct importance sampling on both node groups affected and unaffected by new data. Affected nodes are sampled based on importance measured by Betweenness Centrality, and unaffected nodes are sampled based on importance and balance of features utilizing clusters of previous networks.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) has been implicated in the pathology of human ovarian cancer. This phospholipid elicits a wide range of cancer cell responses, such as proliferation, trans-differentiation, migration, and invasion, via various G-protein-coupled LPA receptors (LPARs). Here, we explored the cellular signaling pathway via which LPA induces migration of ovarian cancer cells. LPA induced robust phosphorylation of ezrin/radixin/moesin (ERM) proteins, which are membrane-cytoskeleton linkers, in the ovarian cancer cell line OVCAR-3. Among the LPAR subtypes expressed in these cells, LPA<SUB>1</SUB> and LPA<SUB>2</SUB>, but not LPA<SUB>3</SUB>, induced phosphorylation of ERM proteins at their C-termini. This phosphorylation was dependent on the Gα<SUB>12/13</SUB>/RhoA pathway, but not on the Gα<SUB>q</SUB>/Ca<SUP>2+</SUP>/PKC or Gα<SUB>s</SUB>/adenylate cyclase/PKA pathway. The activated ERM proteins mediated cytoskeletal reorganization and formation of membrane protrusions in OVCAR-3 cells. Importantly, LPA-induced migration of OVCAR-3 cells was completely abolished not only by gene silencing of <I>LPA</I> <SUB> <I>1</I> </SUB> or <I>LPA</I> <SUB> <I>2</I> </SUB>, but also by overexpression of a dominant negative ezrin mutant (ezrin-T567A). Taken together, this study demonstrates that the LPA<SUB>1</SUB>/LPA<SUB>2</SUB>/ERM pathway mediates LPA-induced migration of ovarian cancer cells. Phase States of Polluted PM<SUB>2.5</SUB> at Seosan during a Winter Field Campaign in 2020

PM2.5 pollutions have become a serious environmental issue in South Korea. However, still the physico-chemical properties of the polluted PM2.5 are not well-understood. In this study, a winter-field measurementwas conducted from 15 December 2020 to 15 January 2021 to investigate physico-chemical properties of PM2.5 using filter samples collected in a Seosan monitoring site. In addition, gaseous species, chemical compositions of PM2.5, and meteorological parameters were analyzed. Using all dataset, we investigated phases and phase states of the polluted PM2.5 showing that the aerosol particles were observed in liquid, and (semi) solid states over the atmospheric relative humidity. Moreover, these properties were linked with the aerosol pollutions observed in Seosan.
