The synthesis of PdP nanoparticles (NPs) using triphenylphosphine as a phosphorus precursor was investigated. The electrocatalytic performance of PdP NPs in hydrogen evolution reaction in an alkaline medium was measured. It can be concluded that when the current density is 10 mA cm -2, the overpotential produced by Pd3P0.95 NPs is 75mV which is 185mV lower than that produced by commercial Pd/C. The mass activity of Pd3P0.95 NPs is more than twice as high as that of commercial Pd/C. The work indicates that PdP nanomaterials could be a potential catalyst for water splitting.

To investigate the stratigraphic sequence in the ancient Yellow River Delta and further discuss the correlation of compressibility of undisturbed soils with depositional environments, two boreholes were drilled at Liyao test site in Cangzhou, Hebei Province, China. Some basic tests regarding to index properties were performed on sediments from one borehole, and oedometer test was conducted for the “undisturbed samples” collected from the other. The stratigraphic sequence in the study area is classified into four depositional systems in terms of sedimentation environment. Evaluation of sample disturbance shows that the “undisturbed samples” for oedometer test are just slightly disturbed in the sampling process. Since overall compressibility can be divided into intrinsic compressibility and additional one, the environmental factors that can affect soil microstructure are closely correlated with additional compressibility. Thus, the influencing mechanism of depositional rate on additional void index ΔIv was investigated quantitatively. Moreover, the relationship between floating range of yield stress and buried depth is established. Then, the additional compressibility of undisturbed samples can be evaluated with depositional rate and buried depth. Finally, the predicted overall compression curve with the proposed method in this study is compared with the measured curve to verify the reasonability and feasibility.

Background: Evidence supporting an association between the 8q24 rs4242382-A polymorphism and prostate cancer (PCa) risk has been reported in North American and Europe populations, though data from Asian populations remain limited. We therefore investigated this association by clinical detection in China, and meta-analysis in Asian, Caucasian and African-American populations. Materials and Methods: Blood samples and clinical information were collected from ethnically Chinese men from Northern China with histologically-confirmed PCa (n=335) and from age-matched normal controls (n=347). The 8q24 (rs4242382) gene polymorphism was genotyped by polymerase chain reaction-high-resolution melting analysis. We initially analyzed the associations between the risk allele and PCa and clinical covariates. A meta-analysis was then performed using genotyping data from a total of 1,793 PCa cases and 1,864 controls from our study and previously published studies in American and European populations, to determine the association between PCa and risk genotype. Results: The incidence of the risk allele was higher in PCa cases than controls (0.222 vs 0.140, $P=7.3{\times}10^{-5}$), suggesting that the 8q24 rs4242382-A polymorphism was associated with PCa risk in Chinese men. The genotypes in subjects were in accordance with a dominant genetic model (ORadj=2.03, 95%CI: 1.42-2.91, $Padj=1.1{\times}10^{-4}$). Presence of the risk allele rs4242382-A at 8q24 was also associated with clinical covariates including age at diagnosis ${\geq}65$ years, prostate specific antigen >10 ng/ml, Gleason score <8, tumor stage and aggressive PCa, compared with the non-risk genotype ($P=4.6{\times}10^{-5}-3.0{\times}10^{-2}$). Meta-analysis confirmed the association between 8q24 rs4242382-A polymorphism and PCa risk (OR=1.62, 95%CI: 1.39-1.88, $P=1.0{\times}10^{-5}$) across Asian, Caucasian and African American populations. Conclusions: The replicated data suggest that the 8q24 rs4242382-A variation might be associated with increased PCa susceptibility in Asian, Caucasian and African American populations. These results imply that this polymorphism may be a useful risk biomarker for PCa in multi-ethnic populations.

A novel anthraquinone diamino-bridged bis($\beta$ -cyclodextrin) 2 was synthesized. The inclusion complexation behaviors of the native $\beta$ -cyclodextrin 1 and the novel bis($\beta$ -cyclodextrin) 2 with guests, such as acridine red (AR), neutral red (NR), ammonium 8-anilino-1-naphthalenesulfonate (ANS), sodium 2-(p-toluidinyl) naphthalenesulfonate (TNS) and rhodamine B (RhB) were investigation by fluorescence, circular dichroism and 2D NMR spectroscopy. The spectral titrations were performed in phosphate buffer (pH 7.20) at 25 ${^{\circ}C}$ to give the complex stability constants (Ks) and Gibbs free energy changes (−${\Delta}G^0$) for the stoichiometric 1:1 inclusion complexation of host 1 and 2 with guests. The results indicated that the novel bis($\beta$ -cyclodextrin) 2 greatly enhanced the original binding affinity of the native $\beta$ -cyclodextrin 1. Typically, bis($\beta$ -cyclodextrin) 2 showed the highest binding constant towards ANS up to 34.8 times higher than that of 1. The 2D NMR spectra of bis($\beta$ -cyclodextrin) 2 with RhB and TNS were performed to confirm the binding mode. The increased binding affinity and molecular selectivity of guests by bis($\beta$ -cyclodextrin) 2 were discussed from the viewpoint of the size/shape-fit concept and multipoint recognition mechanism.
Function of zinc in meiotic progression in mammalian oocytes
Ming-Hui Zhao,Yong-Chul Kwak,Xiang-Shun Cui 충북대학교 동물생명과학연구소 2014 동물생명과학연구 Vol.6 No.-
Zinc, one of the trace elements which involved in various biological processes in oocytes including meiotic resumption, metaphase arrest, oocytes activation. Meiotic progress in mammalian oocytes regulate by serial mechanism. Meiotic promote factor is the principle molecular involving the process. Activity of MPF is regulated by EMI2, a zinc dependent protein, which release APC/C in the absence of zinc. Released APC/C resulted ubiquitinized of MPF, further regulate the process of division. In addition, protein kinase C, which regulated by zinc, also play important role in meiotic resumption. An inter-regulation were fund between PKC and zinc. Depletion of zinc reduced activity of PKC, however, activation of PKC release free zinc into cytoplasm, confirmed the activity of MPF. Therefore, in this review, we provide a new insight of role of zinc in meiotic progression of mammalian oocyte.
Position Control of Magnetic Levitation Transfer System by Pitch Angle
Ming-Zhao Liu,Teruo Tsuji,Tsuyoshi Hanamoto 전력전자학회 2006 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.6 No.3
Magnetic levitation transfer systems are useful for transfer tools in clean rooms and positioning control systems with high precision because of frictionless characteristics. In this paper, the new method is proposed which is a sensorless position. At first, the magnetic levitation is performed by state feedback control with a disturbance observer for each of six axes of the movement of a levitated vehicle. The position of the vehicle is then estimated as the disturbance term of a disturbance observer for a pitch angle which is one of the control axes for the magnetic levitation. In addition, the positioning force is generated by the pitch angle control which gives a tilt to the levitated vehicle so that it generates the horizontal component of force.

( Ming Zeng ),( Qi Zhao ),( Eleni Gentekaki ),( Kevin D. Hyde ),( Yongchang Zhao ) 한국균학회 2020 Mycobiology Vol.48 No.6
Acervus (Pyronemataceae, Pezizales) is a saprobic genus in Pezizomycetes, characterized by colored apothecia, subcylindrical to cylindrical asci and guttulate ascospores. We collected four Acervus samples from China and Thailand. Descriptions and illustrations are introduced for all fresh samples. One new record of A. globulosus from Thailand, one new species, A. rufus, two known species, A. epispartius and A. stipitatus from China are reported. Phylogenetic analysis based on five genes, the large subunit rRNA (LSU), the translation elongation factor-1 alpha (tef1-a), the second largest subunit of RNA polymerase II (rpb2), the largest subunit of RNA polymerase II (rpb1), and the small subunit rRNA (SSU), revealed the distinct position of the new species. The new species is set apart by its red apothecia. A key to Acervus species is also given.
A Novel Dynamic Spectrum Access Algorithm for Cognitive Radio Networks
Zhao, Ming,Yin, Chang-Chuan,Wang, Xiao-Jun The Korea Institute of Information and Commucation 2013 Journal of communications and networks Vol.15 No.1
This paper proposes a new dynamic spectrum access (DSA) algorithm for cognitive radio networks. Once initialized, this algorithm works without the need of coordination overhead and hence can be used when no control channel is available. Secondary user (SU) lists and predetermined access control are used in this algorithm. We analyze the probability of no SU collision with primary user and the throughput of our proposed algorithm. Extensive simulations show that our algorithm outperforms the existing DSA algorithm in terms of both the aggregate throughput and the traffic distribution fairness. Furthermore, the validity of our analysis is confirmed by simulation results.

Objectives : Due to recent developments and the wide application of percutaneous transforaminal discectomy (PTED) in China, we herein compare its clinical effects with microendoscopic discectomy (MED) for the treatment of lumbar disc herniation in terms of recurrence and revision rates. Methods : Six databases, namely, PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, Ovid, China National Knowledge Infrastructure and Wanfang, were searched by computer. The literature was screened according to inclusion and exclusion criteria, and the quality of the included literature was evaluated. After extracting the data from the papers, Review Manager 5.2 software (Cochrane Collaboration, Oxford, UK) was applied to analyze these data. Finally, sensitivity and publication bias analyses of the results were conducted. Results : A total of 12 studies consisting of 2400 patients were included in this meta-analysis. A comparison of PTED with MED revealed higher postoperative recurrence and postoperative revision rates for PTED (odds ratio [OR] recurrence, 1.60; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.01 to 2.53; p=0.05 and OR revision, 1.77; 95% CI, 1.18 to 2.64, p=0.006). Conclusion : PTED has a number of advantages because it is a minimally invasive surgery, but its recurrence and revision rates are higher than MED. Therefore, MED should not be completely replaced by PTED.
