Propolis was included in the Argentine Food Code as a functional food. The chemical parameters and antioxidant properties of propolis samples from the same colonies of Apis mellifera in San Juan (Cuyo region, Western Argentine) were compared every month for 1 year using two collection methods. Chemical parameters were analyzed by the spectrophotometric method and fingerprinting using high-performance liquid chromatography with ultraviolet detection. The antioxidant activities of propolis samples were measured using model systems including the analysis of the scavenging activities for 2,2′-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzthiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS) and 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radicals and the β-carotene bleaching assay. The results showed that propolis had a higher free radical scavenging and lipid peroxidation inhibitory capacity than butylated hydroxytoluene and quercetin, antioxidants used in the pharmaceutical and food industries. The concentration required to scavenge 50% of free radicals (SC50) values differed depending on the sample collection month. Samples collected in November had the highest antioxidant capacity. In all cases, SC50 values of propolis samples obtained by scraping were similar to those collected from a wire mesh (5μg/mL for ABTS and 20–30μg/mL for DPPH radicals). A significant positive correlation was found between the antioxidant capacity and flavonoid content of each analyzed extract. The chemical profiles were very similar. Galangin (3,5,7-trihydroxyflavone), an antioxidant compound, was detected in all samples as a major compound. The chromatographic profile suggests that of Baccharis sp., which would be one of the botanical sources of propolis from western Argentina, and the content of galangin can be used as a parameter for evaluating propolis quality. Our results suggest that Argentine propolis from Cuyo is a promising source of bioactive compounds as ingredients for developing functional foods with a beneficial impact on oxidative stress.
Benign osteoblastoma of the mandible: a case report
María del Carmen Navas-Aparicio(María del Carmen Navas-Aparicio ) 대한구강악안면외과학회 2023 대한구강악안면외과학회지 Vol.49 No.1
Osteoblastoma is a rare benign neoplasm formed by osteoid tissue and well-vascularized bone that occurs mainly in children and adolescents. It appears primarily in the long bones, vertebral column, and small bones of the hands and feet, and not typically in the skull and maxillary bones. The purpose of this study is to present the case of an 8-year-old girl with a diagnosis of right mandibular osteoblastoma and a review of the relevant literature. The goals of treatment were to preserve dental occlusion, masticatory function and facial symmetry while minimizing the effects on patient body image and quality of life. Osteoblastoma, although it is benign, can be aggressive, and its treatment will depend on the timing of diagnosis, size and location. Early diagnosis is essential to avoid not only radical surgery as in the case presented, but also to help minimize the risk of possible relapse and potential malignancy of a benign osteoblastoma.

Mass migrations of Slovaks from the north of Hungary to the south (to the Lowland) in the 18th and 19th centuries are part of the migration of serfs as part of the systematic colonization of Empress Maria Theresa after the expulsion of the Turks from this territory. Coexistence with other nations or old settlers, as well as state politics, naturally influenced further development and determined the life of immigrants in national, cultural, economic, social, as well as linguistic terms. The aim of this paper is to present the linguistic situation of the Slovaks in the settlement of Kysáč in today's Serbia based on church documents from their immigration to the end of the First World War. We examined the chronicle of the Kysáč priest František Jesenský from 1773, registers from the years 1787 – 1918, the minutes of the canonical visitation of the Kysáč church choir from 1835, the minutes of the school board of the Kysáč school from the years 1895 – 1915, the minutes of the presbytery conventions 1912 – 1916 and other documents of the church archive of the Slovak Evangelical Church a. c. in Kysáč.
Work Ability Index: Psychometric Testing in Aeronautical Industry Workers
2024 Safety and health at work Vol.15 No.1
Background The Work Ability Index (WAI) is an instrument that measures work ability. The wide dispersion of the WAI internationally has led to its adaptation for use in different countries. This study aimed to evaluate the psychometric properties of the Spanish version of the WAI. Methods A methodological design was used over an opportunistic sample of 233 workers in the aeronautical industry in Spain. Reliability was evaluated through internal consistency. Factorial validity, known groups, and convergent validity were tested. Results The Cronbach's alpha and item-total correlation indicated an adequate internal consistency. The confirmatory factor analysis, performed to evaluate the factorial validity, found adequate fit indices for a two-factor solution with a high correlation between the factors. Factor 1, “Subjectively estimated work ability and resources”, was composed of 3 subscales and factor 2, “Ill-health-related”, of 2 subscales. Subscales 4 and 6 had loading in both factors. Workers under 45 years of age obtained higher significant scores than older ones. Convergent validity was also evidenced since WAI was highly correlated with self-assessment of health status. Conclusions The Spanish version of the WAI has shown evidence of reliability and validity in this study, supporting its use in individual and collective health surveillance by occupational health professionals. The factorial solution that was found has previously been reported in another international context. However, further research is needed to resolve the discrepancies detected in the role of some subscales between other national and international studies. Spain is one of the European countries that attracts the most immigration, and the Valencian and Murcian regions have a large immigrant population. To our knowledge, no studies have analysed the representation of cultural diversity in visual representations of the body and musical practices in their music textbooks. Therefore, the main objective of this research is to describe the representation of cultural diversity in Spanish music textbooks from a critical and comparative perspective that analyses visual representations of the body and its interactions with the main musical processes. The results show a greater presence of students with white European features, as well as certain cultural stereotypes perpetuated by visual representation with musical instruments. Thus, although a greater variety of human types can be observed in the graphic representations of music textbooks, these take a reductionist and simplistic view of cultural diversity.

Nowadays, the term “diaspora” is used for any ethnical dispersion forced or not. This tendency is due to recent Diaspora Studies, whose remote origin may be found in Jewish nationalism born in the late 19th century. But Jewish nationalism realized in the nation-state of Israel is opposite to the idea of diaspora. For diaspora is beyond nation, beyond nationalism. Following Armand Abécassis, a French philosopher, the true meaning of the term should be found in Genesis, especially in Abraham’s exile ordered by God. The story of God and Abraham shows that diaspora is not a physical movement but a spiritual one. It implies the discovery of one’s individual self and necessity to be in collectivity, sharing things and thoughts with others. Now, if diaspora means discovery of one’s individual self and sharing with others in collectivity, this may prove to be contradictory. Indeed, the apparent contradiction is included in diaspora. The Jew in diaspora proves to be and not to be simultaneously.

Not so long ago, the Hallyu was able to reach the Argentinian public in an opposite way to the one witnessed in Asia. In Asia, as it is usually accepted, TV dramas started the Korean Wave and then gave way to K-pop, while in Argentina, K-pop was first a success and then gave way to TV dramas. In 2014, K-pop was heavily promoted in Argentina’s open TV when a popular local TV program showcased K-pop songs and choreographies based on the genre. TV dramas did not share the same fate, since during 2015 only one program was broadcast, exclusively on cable TV. In 2016, however, three Korean TV dramas ( Stairway to Heaven , My Love from the Stars and Angel Eyes ) were broadcast on Argentina’s open TV through Channel 11 (Telefe), captivating a new audience and generating comments and impressions on viewers who were facing this new and unusual product. As a way of contributing to the analysis of Hallyu exchanges globally, this paper presents an introduction of how television and dramas work in Argentina - departing from Argentina’s cultural heritage itself - with the aim of understanding the process and aftermath of K-dramas in Telefe, their effects on the Argentinian audience and TV market, and changes identified regarding the image of what is perceived as “Korean” locally.
