        The authors have observed image distortion according to the rotation of the mandible while the chin remained centered in the chin rest in the panoramic radiographs using Panelipse Ⅱ of the dry mandible with a dental age of 7 years. The radiopaque steel balls were inserted into the the portion of the tooth crypts, which were removed artifically, of the lateral incisor, canine,premolars, and the second molar and into the bifurcation area of the first molar. The dry mandible was placed in seven altered positions as follows; Position 1. The standard position Position 2. Rotation of the mandible 5°to the right Position 3. Rotation of the mandible 10°to the right Position 4. Rotation of the mandible 5°to the left Position 5. Rotation of the mandible 10°to the left Position 6. Rotation of the mandible 10°to the right inferiorly Position 7. Rotation of the mandible 10°to the left inferiorly The results were as follows; When compared with the image in the standard position: 1) The image distortion in the Position 2 through Position 5 was not greatly changed on all portions excluding molar portion 2) The horizontal distortion in the Position 6 was greatly increased but the vertical distortion was not greatly changed except molar portion 3) The image distortion in the Position 7 was not greatly changed.

        셀형 유연조립시스템에서의 통합 배치설계

        The major two steps required to design a cellular layout are cell formation and cell layout. Because of the differences between manufacturing and assembly operations, the logic of cell formation and cell layout between at FMS and an FAS is not the same. Since the time for the assembly operations is usually relatively short, the transfer time is thus very crucial for the performance of assembly systems. Therefore in a cellular FAS it is more important to eliminate backtracking operations in assembly planning, not to allow intercellular movements in cell formation, and to arrange machines according to assembly sequence in cell layout. This study presents a method for the integrated layout design in cellular FASs considering the characteristics of FAS, layout, and production factors.

        구순 구개열 환아의 수유 보조 장치에 대한 증례보고

        Cleft lip, cleft palate, cleft lip and palate are the most common congenital anomalies in cranio-orofacial region. These anomalies lead to esthetic problem as well as to difficulties in feeding and speech and also to chronic infection of upper airway and to disturbance of jaw growth during growing up. Especially, some difficulties during feeding make parents to be confused and puts infants in dangerous position. But these difficulties can be controlled by proper feeding methods according to pattern of cleft lip and palate. Among these feeding methods, feeding appliance is the most safe and relatively easy to manufacture. Early wearing of this appliance makes cleft lip and palate infants to a normal feeding and weight gain. As a member of team approach for the treatment of cleft lip and palate, a pediatric dentist should solve the feeding problems which cleft lip and palate infants and its parents are confronted and help in receiving further treatment.

        연세대학교 치과병원에 내원한 어린이에서의 영구치 맹출 시기 및 순서

        치아의 정확한 맹출 시기와 그 순서는 어린이의 발육 성숙도의 지표로서 소아치과 임상 및 예방 교정치료에 있어서 매우 중요하다. 이에 2001~2003년에 연세대학교 치과대학병원 소아치과에 내원한 어린이중 만 5세부터 만 14세까지의 남자 654명, 여자 542명, 총 1,196명의 자료를 수집하여 영구치의 맹출 시기 및 순서에 대한 연구 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 1. 상악 영구치의 맹출 시기는 중절치 남 만6.81세, 여 만6.78세, 측절치 남 만8.30세, 여 만7.98세, 견치 남 만10.28세, 여 만10.04세, 제1소구치 남 만9.74세, 여 만9.90세, 제2소구치 남 만10.87세, 여 만10.41세, 제1대구치 남 만6.25세, 여 만6.54세, 제2대구치 남 만12.21세, 여 만12.03세, 여 만12.03세였다. 2. 하악 영구치의 맹출 시기는 중절치 남 만6.00세, 여 만6.06세, 측절치 남 만6.99세, 여 만6.74세, 견치 남 만9.83세, 여 만9.17세, 제1소구치 남 만9.92세, 여 만9.75세, 제2소구치 남 만10.66세, 여 만10.39세, 제1대구치 남 만5.99세, 여 만5.75세, 제2대구치 남 만11.92세, 여 만12.17세였다. 3. 영구치의 맹출 순서는 상악에서 제1대구치, 중절치, 측절치, 제1소구치, 견치, 제2소구치, 제2대구치의 순이었고, 하악에서 제1대구치, 중절치, 측절치, 견치, 제1소구치, 제2소구치, 제2대구치의 순이었다. Accurate timing and sequence of eruption of permanent teeth are indicies of growth and essential for pediatric dentistry and pediatric clinical orthodontics. From the children brought to the Yonsei Dental Hospital during 2001 to 2003, 654 boys and 542 girls, ranging in age from five to fourteen years, were selected and analysed. The following was concluded. 1. Eruption time of maxillary teeth is 6.81 years in boys, 6.78 years in girls for central incisor, 8.30 years in boys, 7.98 years in girls for lateral incisor, 10.28 years in boys, 10.04years in girls for canine, 9.74 years in boys, 9.90 years in girls for first premolar, 10.87 years in boys, 10.41 years in girls for second premolar, 6.25 years in boys, 6.54 years in girls for first permanent molar, 12.21 years in boys, 12.03 years in girls for second permanent molar. 2. Eruption time of mandibular teeth is 6.00 years in boys, 6.06 years in girls for central incisor, 6.99 years in boys, 6.74 years in girls for lateral incisor, 9.83 years in boys, 9.17 years in girls for canine, 9.92 years in boys, 9.75 years in girls for first premolar, 10.66 years in boys, 10.39 years in girls for second premolar, 5.99 years in boys, 5.75 years in girls for first permanent molar, 11.92 years in boys, 12.17 years in girls for second permanent molar. 3. The following eruption sequence was observed: the first permanent molar erupted first, followed by the central incisor, the lateral incisor, the first premolar, the canine, the second premolar and the second permanent molar in the maxilla. The first permanent molar erupted first, followed by the central incisor, the lateral incisor, the canine, the first premolar, the second premolar and the second permanent molar in the mandible.

        응급의료센터에서 신경색의 조기진단

        To evaluate appropriate diagnostic studies for renal infartion in emergency medical center, we analysed 33 patients of renal infarction treated in this hospital for last 8 years. Eleven patients, 4 trauma associated and 7 aortic disease associated patients were excluded. They are 11 males and 11 females with a mean age of 51 years. Fourteen came to the emergency medical center and seven came to the outpatient department, in the other one patient renal infarction was developed during hospitalization with other disease. On their past history they had hypertension in 9, valvular heart disease in 5, and diabetic mellitus in 4 patients. Abdominal or flank pain was noted in 17 of 22(77%). The other symptoms were vomiting, nausea, fever and so on. On microscopic examination of initial urine in hospital, 5 patients showed more than 10 red blood cells by high power field examination. The mean lactic dehydrogenase level was 1,239 I.U/L(normal range 218-472 I.U/L), while the mean aspartate aminotransferase and mean alanine aminotransferase were 51 I.U/L(normal range 13-36 I.U/L) and 44 I.U/L(normal range 5-33 I.U/L). Abdominal ultrasonography showed positive findings in 5 of 16(31%), of which 3 were confirmed by Doppler ultrasonography. In 18, computed tomography was done and all those showed positive findings of renal infarction(100%). In conclusion, it is important that identify the elevated lactic dehdrogenase level in case of any suspicion about renal infarction and confirm by computed tomography.

        To evaluate the specificity and historical trends of the anesthesia in Chungnam National University Hospital, anesthetic experiences of 83,572 in total performed at Chungnam National University Hospital from January 1967 to December 1996 were analyzed statistically and clinically according to age, sex, surgical department, physical status, elective and emergency surgery, premedicants, IV anesthetics, anesthetic methods, inhalational anesthetics, muscle relaxants. The results were as follows : 1. The number of cases has been steadily increased year by year. 2. The ratio of male to female was 52.8% : 47.2%. 3. According to the age, There were 44,905 cases (54%) in the group of 13-45 years. 4. According to the ASA classification of physical status, most of the cases were belonged to the class 1 & 2 (72.5%). 5. The ratio of elective to emergency was 79.4% to 20.6%. 6. Recently, glycopyrrolate has been used increasingly. 7. Thiopental sodium has been mainly used for intravenous induction agent. 8. General anesthesia has been used mainly. 9. Enflurane is the most common inhalational anesthetic agent. but Isoflurane has been used increasingly. 10. Most of muscle relaxants are Pancuronium & Vecuronium(84.5%).

        Ti-Ni-Cu 납을 이용한 티타늄 납접부의 인장 및 피로강도

        This study was performed to evaluate the tensile and fatigue strength of butt joints in titanium soldered with Ti-Ni-Cu alloy. Titanium rods of 30 mm in length and 3 mm in diameter were divided into two groups and the soldering surfaces were polished with #240 and #2,000 emery paper, respectively. Tow pieces of titanium rods were butt-soldered with Ti-Cu-Ni alloy using the electric resistance heating under flux-argon atmosphere, the infrared heating under argon atmosphere, and the infrared heating under vacuum-argon substitution atmosphere. Tensile test was done with a crosshead speed of 0.5㎜/min using universal testing machine and fatigue test was performed by a cyclic tensile stress of 30 Hz using tension-type fatigue testing machine. The solder-matrix interface regions were etched by the solution of 20HF-20HNO_3-60glycerin and analyzed by EPMA. The fracture surfaces were examined by SEM. The maximum tensile strength value of 391.0±19.9 MP_a was obtained when the titanium surfaces were polished with #2,000 emery paper and soldered with Ti-Ni-Cu alloy using the infrared heating under vacuum-argon substitution atmosphere. Fatigue strength value of 215.8 MPa was obtained when soldered using the infrared heating under vaccum-argon substitution atmosphere. Characteristic striation and dimple regions were observed in the fractured surfaces. The EPMA data for the solder-matrix interface region revealed that the diffusion of Ni and Cu occurred in the titanium matirx.

        치과교정용 초탄성 Nitinol 선재의 피로특성

        Nickel-titanium(NiTi) alloy wires are now widely used in the medical field because of their unique shape memory effect and superelasticity. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of mechanical fatigue and thermal cycling fatigue in orthodontics NiTi wire. The fatigue test was performed by three point bending fatigue test(No. of 4000, 8000, 12000, 16000) and tension-compression fatigue test(No. 1000, 2000, 3000, 4000) and thermal cycling fatigue test(No. 500, 1000). The results were as follows : 1. Strength, orthodontic force and transformation temperature(As, ??) were decreased with increasing number of fatigue cycle due to the coarsening of precipitations and increased density of dislocations. 2. Orthodontic force was slightly increased with number of cycle in thermal cycling fatigue due to the cohesion of precipitations and high density of dislocations.

        연세대학교 치과병원 소아치과에 내원한 신환에 대한 분석연구

        The author analyzed a total of 4,753 out-patients of the department of Pediatric Dentistry of the dental hospital of Yonsei University from January 4,1988 to December 31,1989 for the purpose of making public oral health plan more effective and the improvement of the hospital management system for better clinical dental practice. The results are follows; 1.The out-patients under the age of 5 composed of 52.5% of the total group. 2.In view of the chief complaints,the dental diseases due to dental caries ranked the top(56.5%),and orthodonic treatment(11.0%),and traumatic injury(10.1%),others(22.4%),ranked the next. 3.As for the sex distribution,the number of the male patients(56.7%) dominated the female(44.3%)and it showed the tendency that male patients were refered from local clinic more than female. 4.The children resided in residency area of Mapo Gu,Kyungki Do,Seudaemun Gu,Eunpeung Gu,Kangsu Gu,Yangchun Gu,Youngdeung Po Gu in the descending order. 5.The number of children with the seven systemic disease was 428 out of 4,753(9.0%) and 97 among them were cerebral-palsieds. 6.Such habits as finger sucking and tongue thrusting were more common with the children under the age of 6 and bruxism,lip sucking and mouth breathing were more common with the those 6 or more years old. 7.The out-patients reached in January,July,August and the least in April.

      • 榮山江 淡水魚中의 有害性 重金屬 含量에 관한 硏究

        This study was carried out to investigate the heavy metal content of freshwater fishes which were collected at 7 areas located on Youngsan river from march to april in 1988. The results obtained were as follows : 1. Generally mean value of heavy metal contents of fishes collected on lower and upper parts of Youngsan river were higher than those of middle parts. 2. The highest percent of water in edible portion of samples was 81.5% in cyprinus carpio, the lowest was 74.7% in Pseudogobio esocinus, and. the other samples were 75.3% to 78.0. 3. In the cadmiuum contents, the highest value was 14.67 ppb in Carassius auratus and the value at Dongmal ferry area was higher than those at other parts on Youngsan river. 4. In the lead contents, the highest was 0.236 ppm in carassius auratus and that in Zacco platypus was the lowest 0.112 ppm, 5. In the copper contents, the highest value was 2.007ppm in Carassius auratus and the contents of fishes of fishes of dongmal ferry was higher than those of any other area. 6. In the chromium contents, the highest was 1.102ppm in carassius auratus and that in zacco playpus was the lowest 0.887 ppm. The contents of samples of Dongmal ferry area was also higher than those of other area. 7. Accumulation of heavy metals in freshwater fishes intended to increase with growth.
