N/A TAE is now a well-known easy, safe therapeutic modality in unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma. To evaluate the therapeutic effect of TAE in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma, we analysed 159 cases of hepatocellular carcinoma for survival and tumor detection rates according to diagnostic modalities and causes of death concurrently, The patients were divided into two groups, ie TAE treated group and non-TAE group. The results obtained were as follows: 1) The TAE group had a greater number of survivals than the non-TAE group and also the cumulative survival rate till 18 months was significantly higher. 2) The cumulative survival rate from 4 to 18 months was significantly higher in encapsulated hepatoma than diffuse hepatoma in patients who underwent TAE. 3) A declining AFP level was shown in 6 out of 13 cases who underwent TAE, and also tumor size was decreased in 8 out of 13 cases. These results suggest that TAE is an effective and useful therapeutic modality in treating and prolonging the survival of patients with unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma.

Heterotopic pancreas, as being the presence of pancreatic tissue outside its usual or habitual location and without anatomical relation either of continuity or of vascularization with the pancreas proper, is a rare anomaly of the pancreas. The main sites of heterotopic pancreas are stomach(esp. greater curvature of the antrum), duodenum and jejunum. We represent a case of 42year old man, who visited our hospital with chief complain of epigastric discomfort and indigestion. After antrectomy, we found submucosal mass in greater curvature side of antrum which posessed pancreatic acini, ducts, lobules and Brunner's glands.

A 48 year-old man was admitted with the chief complaint of epigastric pain for 10 days. With upper gastrointetinal series and gastrofiberscopy, there noted a round hemispherical submucosal tumar at lesser curvature side of stomach. Because of continuous epigastric pain and large submucosal mass with mucosal ulceration the patient undewent operation. After subtotal gastrectomy, we found the round well-demarcated tumor with mucosal ulceratian and hemarrhage, which located at muscular layer. Microscopically, dominent cells of tumor are round or polygonal epithelioid cells, which cytoplasm was lightly eosinophilic and was tightly coadenced about nucleus so that the bulk of the cell appeared clear. In the immunohistochemistry with desmin, the tumor cells are positive. Histological diagnosis was leiomyoblastoma of stomach. In 1960 Martin et al. described six cases of unusual round cell myogenic tumor of stomach. In 1962, Stout report a series of 69 similar cases and he proposed the term leiomyoblastoma'. Until recent, leiomyoblastoma are rare and largely misdiagnosed as leiomyoma or leiomyosarcoma. A careful histological study is recommended in case of smooth muscle cell tumor of stomach

Two kinds of plasma-sprayed zirconia coating which are ZrO₂-8%Y₂O₃ and ZrO₂-24%MgO are studied to increase the thermal fatigue properties of gray iron in the presence of water spray. The results of thermal cycling tests from room temperature to 1100℃ indicate that ZrO₂-8%Y₂O₃ coating behaves better than ZrO₂-24%MgO and the phase transformation after the tests for both coatings is negligible even in the presence of water. The failure of ZrO₂-24% MgO coating has occurred by the formation of iron oxide layer between the bond coating and the gray iron substrate and then the cracks have propagated through the brittle iron oxide layer and the substrate although blunting of the cracks seems to have occurred in the bond coating. On the other hand, iron oxide layer is not observed for ZrO₂-8%Y₂O₃ coating and thus the cracks in the ceramic top coating have blunted in the bond coating. Also, temperature-variant indentation experiments over the temperature range of 20℃ to 800℃ are reported and analysed using an activation energy approach.

Taguchi matrix experiments with orthogonal arrays were conducted to evaluate the effects of PTA (Plasma Transferred Arc) process variables on the characteristics of weld-overlayers. The materials investigated were Ni-based Metco 16C and Co-based Stellite 6 powders. The characteristics of PTA weld-overlayers were assessed in terms of surface hardness, dilution, and maximum deposition thickness. Main results are that dilution is decreased as the main arc current is decreased and/or powder feeding rate is increased; surface hardness is increased as the main arc current is decreased; deposition thickness is increased as the powder feeding rate is increased and/or travel speed is decreased. Confirmation runs from the results of Taguchi matrix experiments showed good quality weld-overlayers, but did not exhibit the best quality weld-overlayers.

Composite coatings composed of ceramic powder and adhesive were studied to develop a method for repair or maintenance of facilities under particle erosion conditions. Wear resistant ceramic powders such as Al₂O₄, SiC, and WC were mixed with epoxy or urethane base adhesive. The resulting composite materials were coated on SS41 steel plate and tested to assess a particle erosion properties. Test results indicate that both the shape and size of the ceramic filler influence the erosion rate of the composite coatings. Epoxy based coatings are snowing better erosion resistance than that of the urethane based coatings. Erosion resistance of the epoxy/ceramic composite coatings is superior to that of the commercial metal paste which is used for anti-wear repair. Finally, it is careful to rank the erosion resistance of the adhesive based composite coatings.
Characterization of Fe - Cr - B Based Coatings Produced by HVOF and PTA Processes

Two Fe-Cr-B based gas atomized powders, Armacor M and 16, were thermally sprayed on a low carbon steel substrate, using the HVOF (High Velocity Oxygen Fuel) process. Armacor M was also weld-surfaced with the PTA (Plasma Transferred Arc) process. The resultant deposits were subsequently characterized, using X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and microhardness measurement. The effects of heat treatment were also studied for HVOF-sprayed coatings. The wear performance of the coatings was investigated by two-body abrasive wear tests. The results of microstructural analysis of as-sprayed deposits revealed oxide and boride phases such as Fe₃O₄ and Cr_(1.65)Fe_(0.35)B_(0.96), in an a matrix for the HVOF-sprayed Armacor 16 coating, and only the boride phases (Cr_(1.65)Fe_(0.35)B_(0.96) and Cr₂B) in an a matrix for the HVOF-sprayed Armacor M coating. PTA weld-surfaced Armacor M coating contains needle-type long precipitates of Cr₂B and Cr_(1.65)Fe_(0.35)B_(0.96), in the a matrix. The hardness of the HVOF-sprayed Armacor 16 coating after heat treatment was substantially less than that of the as-sprayed coating due to the phase transformation from a to 'y phase. Heat treatments of the HVOF-sprayed Armacor M coating did not produce changes in phase and its hardness decreased as compared to that of the as-sprayed coating. While HVOF-sprayed and PTA weld-surfaced Armacor M coatings have the same hardness, the latter shows better abrasive wear resistance because of the size and orientation of its boride phases. The broadening of the XRD patterns and the increase in hardness after wear tasting suggest that the transformation from the crystalline to the amorphous structure occurred on the uppermost layer during wear testing.
