일반적으로 배양기내로의 통기는 미생물의 경우 직접통기가 가능하나, 동물세포에서의 세포벽이 없으므로 직접통기방법이 사용되지 않는다. 특히 담체의 표면에 부착되어 성장하는 부착성 동물세포의 경우 통기시 공기방울이 터지는 것으로 인하여 세포가 치명적인 손상을 받게 되므로 일반적으로 silicon tube내로 공기를 유통하여 배지내로 확산 용해시키는 방법을 사용한다. 그러나, 이러한 방법은 배양기의 scale-up시 silicon tube의 사용으로 인하여 비용이 증가하고, 공기의 배지로의 확산이 어려운 단점이 있다. 이를 극복하기위하여 본 연구에서는 기존의 담체 대신 다공성 미립담체를 사용하여 직접 통기방법을 적용하였다. 250㎖의 culture vessel의 하단부에 sparger를 설치하여 직접 통기한 결과, 다공성 미립담체인 경우 0.1vvm 이상의 sparging에서도 세포는 성장에 영향을 받지 않았고, 담체의 표면에 부착되는 Cytodex-3의 경우에는 급격한 감소율을 보여주었다. 이는 다공성 담체에서 대부분의 세포가 담체 내부에서 성장함으로 기포발생으로 인한 shear 및 배양액 표면에서 기포가 터질 때의 에너지 전달에 의한 손상을 극복한 결과이다.

Background: Body weight is an important factor that influence the bone density in postmenopausal women except estrogen dificiency. However, different results are reported about the relationship between body composition and bone density in the postmenopausal women. We have studied the relationship between age, body weight, body mass index (BMI), waist hip ratio (WHR), muscle mass, fat mass, fat free mass and bone density. Materials and Methods: We have studied 127 persons of postmenopausal women who visited university medical center and examined the inbody 3.0 and Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DEXA) from Jan, 2001 to Jun, 2002. they didn't have any disease and didn't received homone therapy, osteoprosis therapy or other medication that influence the bone density. Results: The numbers of study subjects is total 127 persons. Mean age is 56.9±5.14, mean weight is 59.3±8.7 kg, mean BMI is 25.37±3.16 (kg/㎡), mean fat mass is 20.02±5.05 kg, mean muscle mass is 37.49±4.50 kg, mean fat free mass is 39.80±4.70, mean BMD is 0.828±0.148 (g/㎠). In the result of linear regression analysis, age, height, weight, muscle mass, fat free mass, fat mass, BMI are significant determinants of BMD. In stepwise multiple regression analysis, age is the most significant determinant of BMD and besides age, fat mass is the most significant determinant of BMD among body composition. Conclusion: In postmenopausal women, age, height, weight, BMI, muscle mass, fat free mass, fat mass are significant determinants of BMD and besides age, fat free mass is the most significant determinant of BMD among the body composition. So, diet and exercise that increase fat free mass will contribute to bone density increment.

The one-electron theory of atoms, molecules, and crystals have enjoyed a wide success in many branches of physics. This theory provides a physically appealing description of the electronic structure of many-electron systems. In addition, this theory gives a convenient basis for performing the detailed calculation on specific many-electron systems. In such calculations, it is usually necessary to introduce many simplified assumptions in order to make a progress. Since the principal computational difficulty supposed by the Hartree-Fock equations is the treatment of the exchange term, it would be very desirable to simplify the treatment of these terms by using Slater's average of the exchange potential. The first order correction of energy in the lowest excited states of He atom is calculated by using the unperturbed wave function obtained with the Hartree-Fock-Slater approximation and compared with the result obtained by the simple analytical method. The numerical results agrees with an experimental results for the lowest excited states of He atom with tolerance 3.22%, 2.16%, 2.94% and 3.41%. These results show that the numerical analysis can be applied to other multielectron atoms with the personal computer.

Numerical methods that are known as Monte as Monte Carlo methods can be loosely described as statistical simulation methods, where statistical simulation is defined in quite general terms to be any method that utilizes sequences of random numbers to perform the simulation. Monte Carlo methods are now used routinely in many problems, the simulation of the esoteric subnuclear processes in high energy physics experiments, cellular automata, self-organized critical phenomena, the Ising spin glass, the simulation of a Bingo game, etc. The physical processes are simulated directly, and there are no needs to even write down the differential equations that describe the behaviors of the systems. The only requirement is that the physical systems be described by probability density functions. We consider with the Monte Carlo variational method and the Monte Carlo path integral method(MCPI). These methods are used to calculate the energy of the ground states of H2 molecule by the formal similarity between the Schroedinger equation and the multi-dimensional diffusion equation.

Three patients with hypertension and hypokalemia demonstrated the low level plasma renin activity and elevated aldosterone level. Plasma renin activity did not increase during volume depletion and aldosterone level did not suppress during salt loading. Computerized tomography of abdomen showed well-defined oval mass of low density in right adrenal gland in all 3 cases. Right adrenalectomy was done and pathologic finding showed adrenal adenoma. Postoperatively there were reversal of hypertension and hypokalemia. We present three cases of primary aldosteronism which were all located in right adrenal gland, with brief review of literatures (J Kor Soc Endocrinol 6:377~383, 1991)

The purpose of this clinical practice guideline (CPG) is to provide current and comprehensive recommendations for the medical and surgical management of primary intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). Since the release of the first Korean CPGs for stroke, evidence has been accumulated in the management of ICH, such as intracranial pressure control and minimally invasive surgery, and it needs to be reflected in the updated version. The Quality Control Committee at the Korean Society of cerebrovascular Surgeons and the Writing Group at the Clinical Research Center for Stroke (CRCS) systematically reviewed relevant literature and major published guidelines between June 2007 and June 2013. Based on the published evidence, recommendations were synthesized, and the level of evidence and the grade of the recommendation were determined using the methods adapted from CRCS. A draft guideline was scrutinized by expert peer reviewers and also discussed at an expert consensus meeting until final agreement was achieved. CPGs based on scientific evidence are presented for the medical and surgical management of patients presenting with primary ICH. This CPG describes the current pertinent recommendations and suggests Korean recommendations for the medical and surgical management of a patient with primary ICH.
Feasibility Study of Different Biochars as Adsorbent for Cadmium and Lead

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of different biochars on the removal of heavy metals from aqueous media. The experiment was carried out in aqueous solutions containing $200mg\;CdL^{-1}$ or $200mg\;PbL^{-1}$ using two different biochars derived from soybean stover and orange peel (20 mg Cd or $Pbg^{-1}$ biochar). After shaking for 24 hours, biochars were filtered out, and Cd and Pb in the filtrate were analyzed by flame atomic absorption spectrophotometer (FAAS). In order to provide information regarding metal binding strength on biochars, sequential extraction was performed by modified SM&T (formerly BCR). The results showed that 70~100% of initially added Cd and Pb was adsorbed on biochars and removed from aqueous solution. The removal rate of Pb (95%, 100%) was higher than that of Cd (70%, 91%). In the case of Cd, orange peel derived biochar (91%) showed higher adsorption rate than soybean stover derived biochar (70%). Cd was adsorbed on the biochar mainly in exchangeable and carbonates fraction (1st phase). In contrast, Pb was adsorbed on it mainly in the form of Fe-Mn oxides and residual fraction (2nd and 4th phase). The existence of Cd and Pb as a form of surface-precipitated complex was also observed on the surfaces of biochars detected by field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM) and energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer (EDAX).

<P>Herein, we developed an ER selective fluorescent ERp that exhibited a sharp fluorescence emission in the far-red region and high photo- and bio-stability in biological milieu. Its emission is insensitive to pH change and localized in the ER of the cells. Furthermore, it successfully demonstrated that the ER membrane is rapidly reorganized in the perinuclear region by an ER stress inducer, tunicamycin.</P>
