Physical and chemical weathering degrades rock, affecting its structural properties and thus the stability of stone buildings or other structures. Confocal laser scan microscopy (CLSM) is used here to observe temporal changes in the surface roughness of rock samples under simulated accelerated weathering. Samples were pressurized to 50, 55, or 70 MPa using a pressure frame, and subjected to freeze/thaw cycling controlled by a thermostat. The temperature was cycled from -20oC to 40oC and back. After each 20 cycles, CLSM was used to assess the change in surface roughness, and roughness factors were calculated to quantify the progression of the surface condition over time. Variations in cross-section line-roughness parameters and surface-roughness parameters were analyzed for specific parts of the sample surfaces at 5× and 50× magnification. The result reveals that the highest and lowest values of the roughness factors are changed according to elapsed time. Freezing/thawing at high pressure caused larger changes in the roughness factor than at low pressure.

이 연구의 목적은 고객의 불평행동이 기업의 재무 성과에 미치는 부정적인 영향과 그 부정적인 영향을 기업의 사회적 책임활동 (CSR)이 경감시킬 수 있는가의 문제를 밝히는 것에 있다. 이를 위하여 49개의 금융회사의 데이터를 기반으로 하였으며 고객의 불평행동은 금융감독원에 보고된 민원요청 건수로 측정하였고 사회적 책임활동은 기업의 기부금액으로 측정하였으며 기업의 재무성과는 ROI로 측정하였다. 이렇게 수집된 데이터를 기업이 가지고 있는 고유한 특성을 모형에 반영할 수 있는 동태적 패널 모형 분석을 사용하여 분석하였다. 그 결과에 의하면 고객의 불평행동은 기업의 재무성과와 부정적인 관계에 있었으며 사회적 책임활동이 그 부정적인 영향을 상당 부분 감소시켜 주는 것으로 나타났다. This study attempts to reveal the negative effects of customer complaints on a firm’s financial performance and, by using empirical analysis, to find out whether a firm’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities can reduce the negative impacts of those complaints. For this purpose, we collected panel data on 49 companies in the financial industries. Records of consumers complaints to financial firms were used as a measure for customer complaints, and the amount of donations in the firm’s individual profit and loss statement was used as a measure for the firm’s CSR activities. For the firm’s performance, we used the Return on Assets (ROA). Using these panel data, we conducted a dynamic panel model analysis to reflect the unique characteristics of the firm in the model. We found that customer complaints do act negatively on a firm’s performance, but we also confirmed that a firm with bigger invests in CSR activities, the less adversely customer complaints affect the firm’s performance.
Atg5 knockout induces alternative autophagy via the downregulation of Akt expression

Autophagy play contradictory roles in cellular transformation. We previously found that the knockout (KO) of autophagyrelated 5 (Atg5), which is essential for autophagy, leads to the malignant transformation of NIH 3T3 cells. In this study, we explored the mechanism by which autophagy contributes to this malignant transformation using two transformed cell lines, Atg5 KO and Ras-NIH 3T3. Monomeric red fluorescent protein–green fluorescent protein–light chain 3 reporter and Cyto-ID staining revealed that Ras-NIH 3T3 cells exhibited higher basal autophagy activity than NIH 3T3 cells. Additionally, transformed cells, regardless of their Atg5 KO status, were more sensitive to autophagy inhibitors (SBI-0206965, chloroquine, and obatoclax) than the untransformed NIH 3T3 cells, suggesting that the transformed cells are more autophagy-dependent than the normal cells. Loss of Atg5 improved the cell viability and mobility, especially in Ras-NIH 3T3 cells. Furthermore, we discovered that autophagy was alternatively induced in a Rab9-dependent manner in Ras-NIH 3T3 and NIH 3T3/Atg5 KO cells. In particular, Atg5 KO cells showed reduced mTOR-mediated phosphorylation of Akt (pAkt S473), indicating the mTOR-independent occurrence of alternative autophagy in Atg5 KO cells. Therefore, our study provides evidence that alternative autophagy may contribute to tumorigenesis in cells with an impaired Atg5-dependent autophagy pathway.

The purpose of this study was to supply the basic data for making best use of the female physical educators in a community, through the inquiring 154 leaders of sports for all. We should examine the present situation of physical educators and research to activate the female physical educators resources to make the best plan. And we can apply the dispersion analysis, t-test, x²-test to analysis the result. Being based on the study above, I can suggest some plans to make the best use of the female physical educators. First of all, the female physical educators have to improve their abilities and qualities by themselves, and the re-educating must be institutionalized when they want to be volunteers. Second, we should promote the basis for the social physical education with the expansion of public facilities, the active use of the female physical education volunteers, and the variable physical education programs, therefore it will make a physically, mentally, socially healthy physical education culture.
Surveillance of Mosquitoes Associated with Vector Born Disease

There are over 3,000 different species of mosquitoes throughout the world; currently 56 species are reported in Korea. Mosquitoes can act as vectors for many disease-causing viruses and parasites during blood sucking. Various species of mosquitoes are estimated to transmit various types of disease to more than 700 million people annually in Africa, South America, Central America, Mexico, Russia, and much of Asia, with millions of resultant deaths. At least two million people annually die of these diseases, and the morbidity rates are many times higher still. To prevent the spread of diseases, KNIH (Korea National Institute of Health) used three categorized methods; identifying or taxonomic analysis of mosquitoes, detecting virus caring mosquitoes, and detecting malaria from Anopheline mosquitoes. We have proved that taxonomic analysis using DNA barcording method (COI gene) is useful to complement identification of mosquito species. In detecting virus, we have reported Cx. orientalis as a new potential Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV) vector. We also reported that the Anopheline mosquito species composition and Plasmodium vivax infection rates in malaria hot spot in Korea.
