Ventricular septal defect remains an infrequent but devastating complication of acute MI. Approximately 1∼3% of cases of acute myocardial infarction are complicated by ventricular septal rupture in the prethrombolytic era and the incidence has decreased to 0.2% with reperfusion therapy. This mechanical complication usually occurs within the first 10 to 14 days when necrotic tissue is most abundant and the collateral coronary circulation is not well developed. This lesion is generally associated with complete coronary obstruction rather than severe stenosis. Rupture of the ventricular septum is a severe mechanical complication of acute myocardial infarction, usually resulting in death unless surgical repair is performed. The bad prognosis of this event within the first 2 weeks indicates the need for early surgical rapair. This complication is more frequent after the first acute myocardial infarction in the elderly and secondary to a transmural myocardial infarction. We report two cases of ventricular septal rupture after acute myocardial infarction.

The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of ethanol extract of Fagopyrum escuentum(FE) on the melanogenesis. To determine whether ethanol extract of FE suppress melanin synthesis in cellular level, B16F10 melanoma cells were cultured in the presence of different concentrations of FE ethanol extract. In the present study, the author examined the effects of FE ethanol extract on cell proliferation, melanin contents, tyrosinase activity. Cell proliferation was slightly increased by treatment with ethanol extract of FE (25-200 ㎍/ml). The ethanol extract of FE effectively suppressed melanin contents at a dose of 100 ㎍/ml. It was observed that the color of cell pellets was totally whitened compared with the control. The ethanol extract of FE inhibited tyrosinase activity, regulate melanin biosynthesis as the key enzyme in melanogenesis. These results suggest that the ethanol extract of FE exerts its depigmenting effects through the suppression of tyrosinase activity. And it may be a potent depigmetation agent in hyperpigmentation condition.
Development of Agricultural Task Assessment in Korea

The existing ergonomics assessment tools have some limits on assessing agricultural activities, because most of them were developed to aim at workers in manufacturing business. Farms, in comparison with the other type of business, work in poor surroundings, and they are under financial and psychosocial stress because of its labor-intensive characteristic. The stress levels might be high. The aim of this study is unifying checklists of upper (AULA: Agricultural Upper-Limb Assessment) and lower (ALLA: Agricultural Lower-Limb Assessment) extremity from the previous studies, we will develop the Whole-body ergonomic assessment tool considering farm work. This study will suggest a whole body checklist, unifying ergonomics upper and lower extremity checklists from the previous studies. It is designed to be able to analyze working hours as well as work postures, and calculate total degrees of each risk by evaluating the upper and lower limb.

Swiprosin-1 exhibits the highest expression in $CD8^+$ T cells and immature B cells and has been proposed to play a role in lymphocyte biology through actin remodeling. However, regulation of swiprosin-1 gene expression is poorly understood. Here we report that swiprosin-1 is up-regulated in T cells by PKC pathway. Targeted inhibition of the specific protein kinase C (PKC) isotypes by siRNA revealed that $PKC-{\theta}$ is involved in the expression of swiprosin-1 in the human T cells. In contrast, down-regulation of swiprosin-1 by A23187 or ionomycin suggests that calcium-signaling plays a negative role. Interestingly, swiprosin-1 expression is only reduced by treatment with $NF-{\kappa}B$ inhibitors but not by NF-AT inhibitor, suggesting that the $NF-{\kappa}B$ pathway is critical for regulation of swiprosin-1 expression. Collectively, these results suggest that swiprosin-1 is a $PKC-{\theta}$-inducible gene and that it may modulate the late phase of T cell activation after antigen challenge.

Background: Nowadays in Korea, dermatologic procedures including cosmetic treatment are carried out frequently by non-dermatologists, and even oriental doctors, or dentists or beauticians. Thus, the procedure related complications are increasing as well. However, there is a paucity of study dealing with this issue. Objectives: This study aims to overview of complicated cases after dermatologic procedures. Methods: Between January 2008 and December 2013, total 74 patients with complications after dermatologic procedure who visited the Chonbuk National University Hospital were enrolled in this study. Results: The numbers of complicated cases were increasing every year. Dermatologist to beautician to non-dermatologist ratio of complicated cases were 1 : 1.6 : 5.7. The 82.5% of the patients (except the dermatologists and beauticians) mistook non-dermatologist for dermatologist. The most common complication was a pigmentation change by both of non-dermatologist and dermatologist, and foreign body granulomatous reaction by beautician. Especially, laser ablation of undiagnosed skin cancer was seven times more common in non-dermatologist than dermatologist. Conclusion: Complications after dermatologic procedures were far more common by non-dermatologist including oriental doctor or dentist, even beautician than dermatologist. This study may help to improve strategies for health-care safety management and quality in the dermatological field in Korea.
