Novel, effective methods to control and prevent spoilage and contamination by pathogenic microorganisms in meat and meat products are in constant demand. Non-thermal pasteurization is an ideal method for the preservation of meat and meat products because it does not use heat during the pasteurization process. Atmospheric pressure cold plasma (APCP) is a new technology for the non-thermal pasteurization of meat and meat products. Several recent studies have shown that APCP treatment reduces the number of pathogenic microorganisms in meat and meat products. Furthermore, APCP treatment can be used to generate nitrite, which is an essential component of the curing process. Here, we introduce the effectiveness of APCP treatment as a pasteurization method and/or curing process for use in the meat and meat product processing industry.
Improved Oxidative Stability of Enhanced Pork Loins Using Red Perilla Extract

Enhanced meat is defined as fresh meat that has been minimally processed to improve quality and consistency. The present work investigated the quality of enhanced pork loins manufactured with the extract of red perilla leaves (ERP). ERP was prepared by the aqueous extraction of red perilla leaves followed by lyophilization. Enhanced pork loins were produced by injecting brine (15% v/w). The treatments consisted of a control (brine containing no ERP), ERP 0.2 (brine containing ERP at a concentration of 2 g/kg of pork loin), and ERP 0.4 (brine containing ERP at a concentration of 4 g/kg of pork loin). The enhanced pork loins were stored at 4°C for 7 d, and its quality parameters were investigated. Addition of ERP decreased the L*-value and increased the a*- and b*-values of enhanced pork loins compared to those of the control group at all storage intervals (p<0.05). A significantly lower pH than that of the control was found in ERP 0.4 after 7 d of storage. The malondialdehyde contents of the cooked pork loins were significantly lower in ERP 0.2 and ERP 0.4 than in those of the control after 4 and 7 d of storage (p<0.05). While ERP 0.4 received relatively low scores in taste, flavor, and overall acceptability of the cooked pork loins (p<0.05), no significant differences were found between the control and ERP 0.2. Enhanced pork loins can be produced using ERP to improve their oxidative stability.
The Early Trauma Inventory Self Report-Short Form: Psychometric Properties of the Korean Version

Objective-Experiencing traumatic events in childhood is related to various psychiatric problems in adulthood, and a comprehensive tool for measuring childhood trauma is necessary in this field. This study aimed to examine the psychometric properties, and factor structure of the Korean version of the Early Trauma Inventory Self Report-Short Form (ETISR-SF). ETISR-SF measures the childhood trauma, including physical, and emotional sexual abuse, as well as general traumas. Methods-A clinical and nonclinical samples comprising of 97 subjects from a local community, and 207 patients with the ETISR-SF, were assessed. Other tools, including the Childhood Trauma Questionnaire-Short Form (CTQ-SF), the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), and the Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI) were used to assess clinical symptoms. Additional data from 69 college students was used to examine the test-retest reliability. Results-The original four-factor model was supported by the confirmatory factor analysis scale [χ2 (351, n=304)=3374.025, p<0.001, TLI=0.969, CFI=0.972, RMSEA=0.030]. The ETISR-SF was found to be a reliable instrument (Cronbach’s α=0.869). Comparison of the ETISR-SF scores discriminated the clinical group from that of the control group. The measure showed good convergent and divergent validity, in that the scores were correlated higher with the scores on the CTQ-SF (0.691) than with the scores on the BDI or BAI (0.424, 0.397 respectively). The ETISR-SF was found to be temporally stable, showing the moderate to high correlation (0.844). Conclusion-These findings suggest that the Korean version of the ETISR-SF appears to be a reliable and valid instrument for the measurement of reported childhood trauma.

This paper presents a wide-frequency-range, low-power transceiver with an automatic impedance-matching calibration for TV-white-space (TVWS) application. The wide-range automatic impedance matching calibration (AIMC) is proposed for the Drive Amplifier (DA) and LNA. The optimal $S_{22}$ and $S_{11}$ matching capacitances are selected in the DA and LNA, respectively. Also, the Single Pole Double Throw (SPDT) switch is integrated to share the antenna and matching network between the transmitter and receiver, thereby minimizing the systemic cost. An N-path filter is proposed to reject the large interferers in the TVWS frequency band. The current-driven mixer with a 25% duty LO generator is designed to achieve the high-gain and low-noise figures; also, the frequency synthesizer is designed to generate the wide-range LO signals, and it is used to implement the FSK modulation with a programmable loop bandwidth for multi-rate communication. The TVWS transceiver is implemented in $0.13{\mu}m$, 1-poly, 6-metal CMOS technology. The die area of the transceiver is $4mm{\times}3mm$. The power consumption levels of the transmitter and receiver are 64.35 mW and 39.8 mW, respectively, when the output-power level of the transmitter is +10 dBm at a supply voltage of 3.3 V. The phase noise of the PLL output at Band 2 is -128.3 dBc/Hz with a 1 MHz offset.

This paper presents a 6 Gb/s 4-channel arrayed transimpedance amplifiers (TIA) with the gain control for 4-channel passive optical network in 0.13 ㎜ complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) technology. A regulated cascode input stage and inductive-series peaking are proposed in order to increase the bandwidth. Also, a variable gain control is implemented to provide flexibility to the overall system. The TIA has a maximum 98.1 ㏈Ω gain and an input current noise level of about 37.8 ㎀/㎐. The die area of the fabricated TIA is 1.9 ㎜ x 2.2 ㎜ for 4-channel. The power dissipation is 47.64 ㎽/1ch.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>This study investigated the potential use of atmospheric pressure plasma (APP) treatment as a curing process for canned ground ham. APP treatment for 60min while mixing increased the nitrite content in the meat batters from 0.64 to 60.50mgkg<SUP>−1</SUP> while the pH and the total content of aerobic bacteria in the meat batters were unchanged. The canned ground hams cured by the APP treatment for 30min displayed no difference in their physicochemical qualities, such as nitrosyl hemochrome, color, residual nitrite, texture, lipid oxidation, and protein oxidation, compared with those of canned ground hams cured with sodium nitrite or celery powder at 42mgkg<SUP>−1</SUP> of nitrite. The canned ground hams cured by the APP treatment received a higher score in taste and overall acceptability than those cured with sodium nitrite. <B>ABSTRACT</B><P><I>Vibrio vulnificus</I> is a Gram-negative bacterium that causes a fatal septicemia. One of its virulence factors is a membrane-bound lipoprotein, IlpA, which can induce cytokine production in human immune cells. In the present study, the role of IlpA as an adhesion molecule was investigated. An <I>ilpA</I>-deleted <I>V. vulnificus</I> mutant showed significantly decreased adherence to INT-407 human intestinal epithelial cells, which in turn resulted in reduced cytotoxicity. The <I>ΔilpA</I> mutant recovered the adherence ability of the wild type by complementation in <I>trans</I> with the intact <I>ilpA</I> gene. In addition, pretreatment of <I>V. vulnificus</I> with anti-IlpA polyclonal antibodies resulted in a significant reduction of bacterial adherence. To localize the domain of IlpA required for cytoadherence, three truncated recombinant IlpA polypeptides were constructed and tested for the ability to adhere to human cells by a ligand-binding immunoblot assay and fluorescence microscopy. The polypeptide containing the carboxy (C)-terminal hydrophilic domain exhibited direct binding to INT-407 cells. Therefore, the C-terminal domain of IlpA allows this protein to be an adhesion molecule of <I>V. vulnificus</I>.</P>

최근 Siri, S Voice 등과 같이 스마트폰에 음성으로 명령을 내리는 기능이 보편화되고 있다. 하지만 기존의 음성명령 시스템은 사전에 정의된 명령어가 아니면 사용이 불가능하며 어떤 명령어들이 사용가능한지 확인하기도 어렵다. 본 논문에서는 사용자에게 좀 더 편리한 인터페이스를 제공하기 위한 목적으로, 사용자가 직접 음성명령을 등록할 수 있는 안드로이드폰용 음성명령 앱을 개발한다. 본 논문에서 개발한 음성명령 앱은 사용자가 등록한 임의의 음성을 인식하여 안드로이드폰에 설치된 애플리케이션을 실행시키거나, 특정 번호로 전화를 걸거나, 특정 번호로 문자메시지를 보낼 수 있다. 본 논문에서 개발한 앱을 통해 사용자는 보다 편리하게 스마트폰에 음성명령을 내릴 수 있다.
