An Analytical Embedded Microprocessor Performance Model using Instruction Dependencies

In the initial design phase of embedded microprocessors, a performance model is necessary. By using not only the relation between the instruction window size and the issue width, but also the effects of the limited functional units and instruction dependencies, a theoretical performance model for an embedded superscalar microprocessor is proposed. By using trace-driven data of MiBench programs as input, this paper shows that the theoretically computed performance is quite similar to the measured value.
Prediction of Carcass Composition Using Carcass Grading Traits in Hanwoo Steers

The prediction of carcass composition in Hanwoo steers is very important for value-based marketing, and the improvement of prediction accuracy and precision can be achieved through the analyses of independent variables using a prediction equation with a sufficient dataset. The present study was conducted to develop a prediction equation for Hanwoo carcass composition for which data was collected from 7,907 Hanwoo steers raised at a private farm in Gangwon Province, South Korea, and slaughtered in the period between January 2009 and September 2014. Carcass traits such as carcass weight (CWT), back fat thickness (BFT), eye-muscle area (EMA), and marbling score (MAR) were used as independent variables for the development of a prediction equation for carcass composition, such as retail cut weight and percentage (RC, and %RC, respectively), trimmed fat weight and percentage (FAT, and %FAT, respectively), and separated bone weight and percentage (BONE, and %BONE), and its feasibility for practical use was evaluated using the estimated retail yield percentage (ELP) currently used in Korea. The equations were functions of all the variables, and the significance was estimated via stepwise regression analyses. Further, the model equations were verified by means of the residual standard deviation and the coefficient of determination ($R^2$) between the predicted and observed values. As the results of stepwise analyses, CWT was the most important single variable in the equation for RC and FAT, and BFT was the most important variable for the equation of %RC and %FAT. The precision and accuracy of three variable equation consisting CWT, BFT, and EMA were very similar to those of four variable equation that included all for independent variables (CWT, BFT, EMA, and MAR) in RC and FAT, while the three variable equations provided a more accurate prediction for %RC. Consequently, the three-variable equation might be more appropriate for practical use than the four-variable equation based on its easy and cost-effective measurement. However, a relatively high average difference for the ELP in absolute value implies a revision of the official equation may be required, although the current official equation for predicting RC with three variables is still valid.
A First-Order Superscalar Processor Model with Limited Resources

This paper proposes a performance model for superscalar processors which consists of the relationship between component instructions issued per cycle and the size of the instruction window, penalties due to branch mispredictions, instruction cache misses, data cache misses, and the limits from the number of functional units. The key idea is noticing that the average number of each component IPC cannot exceed the dedicated number of each functional unit. Using trace-derived data dependence information, the model can compute performance within accuracy for various window sizes and functional unit configurations without re-executing the whole simulation process.
The Analytic Performance Model of a Superscalar Digital Signal Processor

This paper presents an analytic performance model of a superscalar digital signal processor based on the relation of the window size and the instruction issue width, branch mispredictions, instruction cache misses and data cache misses. We describe our design and evaluate it with the UTDSP benchmarks. As a result, our performance model achieves the mean error which is less than 5 %.
Thermodynamic Synthesis of Ladder-Type Functional Organic/Polymer Materials

Conjugated ladder-type macromolecules represent a captivating class of materials on account of their well-defined rigid structures, intriguing syntheses, and promising potential in optoelectronic applications. The ladder-type backbones possess an intrinsically rigid conformation and limit possible torsional disorder. The unique architecture of conjugated ladder-type materials leads to extended π-conjugation length, longer exciton diffusion length, and enhanced stability, compared to conventional conjugated materials. New synthetic strategy employing ring-closing metathesis successfully afforded well-defined ladder-type materials in excellent yields. This research provides a well-established synthetic strategy to construct a fully conjugated ladder-type material and a fundamental understanding of ladder-type functional organic materials for potential future applications in electronic and optoelectronic devices.
A Survey of Teaching Stresses of Native English Teachers in Korea

The purpose of this study is to find out the factors of teaching stresses from native English teachers who are working at a Korean university. These days, college English education managed by inviting native English teachers becomes popular. In this situation, it is important to figure out how to increase efficiency of English education conducted by native English teachers. Therefore, as one of the methods to manage native English teachers, this survey focused on the teaching stresses by taking a survey toward 26 native English teachers who engaged in N university.

It is proposed a weather recognition algorithm from in-vehicle camera image that uses a subspace method to judge rainy weather. There are many algorithms that recognize weather condition from image. Most of pattern recognition algorithm is that uses training data sets. It is needed many data to use training data and many times to calculate the feature. For these disadvantages, it is proposed to use principal component feature in this paper. The PCA (Principal Component Analysis) is a method that extracts feature of input data and arranges the feature in decreasing order. The PCA method is not main algorithm of pattern recognition. It is effective and useful to recognize the weather pattern without training data. Rainy weather represents the principal components extracted from raindrop image in-vehicle camera. Then the algorithm detects rainy weather by feature vector. In simulations using actual images, our method showed good detection ability of raindrops and promising results for rainfall judgment from detection result.
원전 MMIS 소프트웨어 개발을 위한 규제요건 분석 및 개발 방법론

원자력 산업계에서는 원전 MMIS(Man-Machine Interface System)의 디지털 기술 적용을 위해 많은 노력을 기울이고 있고, 특히 원자력 산업의 특수성인 안전성 확보에 필요한 개발기준과 규제방법 정립에 많은 연구가 수행되고 있다. 또한 디지털 MMIS의 핵심기반기술인 고 신뢰도 소프트웨어 개발 방법론이 확립되지 못하여 소프트웨어 공통모드고장 문제, 정량적인 소프트웨어 신뢰도 보장 문제 등이 현안으로 제기되고 있다. 이와 같이 원전 MMIS의 디지털화를 성공하기 위해서는 소프트웨어의 고 신뢰도 확보가 관건이며, 고 신뢰도를 확보하기 위한 소프트웨어 개발 방법론의 정립이 절실히 요구되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 원전 소프트웨어 개발에 적용되는 규제지침을 분석하고, 일체형원자로(SMART, System-integrated Modular Advanced ReacTor) MMIS 소프트웨어 개발에 적용될 소프트웨어 개발 방법론을 제시한다.
