에너지 음료는 카페인을 주성분으로 타우린, 비타민 같은 다른 energy-enhancing 성분을 함유하고 있다. 미국과 유럽에서는 글루쿠로노락톤이 에너지 음료에 첨가될수 있으나, 국내에서 의약품으로는 허가되어 있다. 따라서 식품 첨가물로는 그 사용이 금지 되어 있어, 지속적으로 수입 및 유통 음료에서 시험검사를 하여 규제하고 있다. 현재 분석법으로 사용하는 LC-PDA 법은 복잡한 유도체화 과정을 거치고, 음료 중에 당류들이 위양성 결과를 나타내기도 한다. 이런 기존 방법의 단점을 개선하기 위해 HILIC-ESI-MS/MS(hydrophilic interaction liquid chromatography coupled to electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry)를 이용한 분석법을 개발하고, 선택성, 직선성, 검출한계, 정량한계, 정밀도, 정확성, 재현성에 대하여 분석법 유효성 검증을 수행했고, AOAC, EURACHEM 가이드라인에 부합되는 결과를 얻었다. A rapid, sensitive analytical method for glucuronolactone in beverages was developed and validated using hydrophilic interaction liquid chromatography coupled to electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry (HILIC-ESI-MS/MS). To determine the optimum analytical conditions for glucuronolactone, three different kinds of HILIC columns and two mobile phases with different pH values were examined. An amide-bonded stationary phase with a pH 9 acetonitrile-rich mobile phase was the best condition in terms of column retention, ESI-MS/MS response area, and signal-to-noise ratio. After extraction, glucuronolactone was separated through the HILIC amide column and detected by negative ESI-MS/MS in selected reaction monitoring (SRM) mode. Nine energy drinks sold in Korea were spiked with glucuronolactone at a concentration of 5 ng/mL; the Monster $Energy^{TM}$ sample showed the smallest peak area and its signal-to-noise ratio was used for method validation. Good linearity was obtained in the concentration range from 20 to 1500 ng/mL with a correlation coefficient > 0.998. The developed method had a limit of detection (LOD) of 6 ng/mL and a limit of quantitation (LOQ) of 20 ng/mL. The recovery of this method at concentration of 20, 100, 500, and 1000 ng/mL was 96.3%-99.2% with relative standard deviations (RSD) of 1.6%-14.0%. A reproducibility precision assessment at concentration of 100 and 500 ng/mL was carried out among three laboratories. The recovery of that evaluation was 95.1%-102.3% with RSD of 2.7%-7.0%. An analysis of variance indicated that there was no difference between the recovery results of the three laboratories at the 5% significance level. The validated method is applicable to inspecting beverages adulterated with glucuronolactone in Korea.

본 논문은 산업내 무역 패턴에 관한 연구의 범주내에서 그리고 Heckscher-Ohlin의 比較優位論的 觀點에서 韓國 製造業의 산업별 산업내무역구조를 분석한다는 흥미로운 관점을 제시한다. 즉 비교우위론적 관점에서 산업내 무역의 비중의 산업별 구조와 그 변화를 분석하기 위해 다각도의 접근을 시도한다. 실증분석에 따르면, 비교비용을 나타내는 것으로서 요소집약도는 산업내 무역과 산업간 무역의 상대적 비중을 결정하는 중요한 요인이라는 관점은 설득력을 갖는 것으로 나타났다. 사례분석을 통해, 이러한 관점은 靜態的으로 뿐만 아니라 動態的으로도 유의할 수 있음을 보여준다. 특히 사례분석에서는 산업내 무역이 발생하는 근원적 원인을 사유해 본다. 본 분석은 한국의 제조업에 있어 산업내 무역현상을 포함하는 것으로서의 비교우위구조의 현위상을 판단 또는 확인하고 미래의 변화를 예측하는데 일단의 실마리를 제공해 줄 수 있다.
Effect of interferon-γ on the fusion of mononuclear osteoclasts into bone-resorbing osteoclasts

Osteoclasts are multinucleated cells that are formed by the fusion of pre-fusion osteoclasts (pOCs). The fusion of pOCs is known to be important for osteoclastic bone resorption. Here, we examined the effect of IFN-γ on the fusion of pOCs. IFN-γ greatly increased the fusion of pOCs in a dose-dependent manner. Furthermore, IFN-γ induced pOC fusion even in hydroxyapatite- coated plates used as a substitute for bone. The resorption area of pOCs stimulated with IFN-γ was significantly higher than that of the control cells. IFN-γ induced the expression of dendritic cell-specific transmembrane protein (DC-STAMP), which is responsible for the fusion of pOCs. IFN-γ enhanced DC-STAMP expression in a dose-dependent manner. The mRNA expression of c-Fos and nuclear factor of activated T cells (NFAT) c1 was enhanced in the pOCs treated with IFN-γ. Taken together, these results provide a new insight into the novel role of IFN-γ on the fusion of pOCs. [BMB reports 2012; 45(5): 281-286]
GSM 휴대폰 TDMA 잡음 전달 특성 분석을 통한 통화 품질 개선에 관한 연구

본 논문에서는 GSM(Global System for Mobile communication) 휴대폰에서 TDMA(Time Division Multiple Access)잡음의 원인 및 TDMA 잡음원의 판별 방법에 대해서 기술한다. TDMA 잡음의 원인은 RF(Radio Frequency)에너지 결합과 버스트 리플(Burst ripple)에 의한 저주파 에너지 결합으로 구성된다. TDMA 잡음원의 판별 방법을 출력(TDMA 잡음 측정)과 시스템(오디오 경로)의 주파수 응답을 통해 제안한다. 특히 RF 에너지 결합에 대해 삽입 손실(S21) 분석 방법과 개선 방법을 제안한다. RF 에너지 결합을 줄이기 위해 커패시터(40 pF)가 해결법이고, 결과적으로 TDMA 잡음이 10 ㏈가 줄어들었다. In this paper, we describe the cause of TDMA noise and distinction method of TDMA noise source in a GSM mobile phone. The causes of TDMA noise are composed of RF(Radio Frequency) energy coupling and low frequency energy coupling by burst ripple. We propose the distinction method of TDMA noise source from output(TDMA noise measurement) and frequency response of a system(audio path). Especially we propose a method of insertion loss(S21) analysis and the improvement method for RF energy coupling. Capacitor(40 pF) is a solution to reduce RF energy coupling and therefore TDMA noise was reduced by 10 ㏈.

As environmental vibration requirements on precision equipment become more stringent, use of pneumatic isolators has become more popular and their performance is subsequently required to be further improved. Performance of passive pneumatic isolators is related to various design parameters in a complicated manner and, hence, is very limited especially in low frequency range by chamber volume. In this study, transmissibility behavior of the pneumatic isolators depending on frequency and dynamic amplitude are presented. Then, an active control technique, time delay control, which is adequate for a low frequency nonlinear system, is applied. A procedure of applying the time delay control law to a pneumatic isolator is presented and it's effectiveness in the transmissibility performance is shown. Comparison between passive and active pneumatic isolators is made based on simulation.

Phytate is an antinutritional factor that impacts the bioavailability of essential minerals such as Ca2+, Mg2+, Mn2+, Zn2+, and Fe2+ by forming insoluble mineral-phytate salts. These insoluble mineral-phytate salts are hydrolyzed rarely by monogastric animals, because they lack the hydrolyzing phytases and thus excrete the majority of them. The β-propeller phytases (BPPs) hydrolyze these insoluble mineral-phytate salts efficiently. In this study, we cloned a novel BPP gene from a marine Pseudomonas sp. This Pseudomonas BPP gene (PsBPP) had low sequence identity with other known phytases and contained an extra internal repeat domain (residues 24-279) and a typical BPP domain (residues 280-634) at the C-terminus. Structurebased sequence alignment suggested that the N-terminal repeat domain did not possess the active-site residues, whereas the C-terminal BPP domain contained multiple calcium-binding sites, which provide a favorable electrostatic environment for substrate binding and catalytic activity. Thus, we overexpressed the BPP domain from Pseudomonas sp. to potentially hydrolyze insoluble mineral-phytate salts. Purified recombinant PsBPP required Ca2+ or Fe2+ for phytase activity, indicating that PsBPP hydrolyzes insoluble Fe2+-phytate or Ca2+-phytate salts. The optimal temperature and pH for the hydrolysis of Ca2+-phytate by PsBPP were 50°C and 6.0, respectively. Biochemical and kinetic studies clearly showed that PsBPP efficiently hydrolyzed Ca2+-phytate salts and yielded myo-inositol 2,4,6-trisphosphate and three phosphate groups as final products. Finally, we showed that PsBPP was highly effective for hydrolyzing rice bran with high phytate content. Taken together, our results suggest that PsBPP has great potential in the animal feed industry for reducing phytates.

Moyamoya disease (MMD) is a cerebrovascular disorder characterized by bilateral stenosis or occlusion of the terminal portions of the internal carotid arteries. MMD is also accompanied by typical net-like collateral vessels in the basal ganglia. Although the etiology of MMD remains unknown, hereditary, immunogenic, and hemodynamic factors have been implicated as underlying mechanisms of MMD. Here, the authors report on one patient with a rare combination of Graves` disease-associated thyrotoxicosis, myasthenia gravis, and MMD, where cerebrovascular ischemic events occurred during a thyrotoxic state. Benign symmetric lipomat,osis is a rare disease of undetermined cause characterized by symmetric deposits of adipose tissue o:n the neck, upper trunk and abdomen. We report three cases of kienign symmetric lipomatosis, one of which is associated with alcoholic liver disease and the patient complained of a diffieulties in neck motion, All of them are about sixty year old men with history of frequent alcohol consumption. In histopathologic findings, the reticular dermis was completcly replaced by mature fat cells and there was a slight increase in vascular and fibrous elements. (Kor J Dermatol 1993;31(5):800-805)
