The authors analized 78 patients with herpes zoster treated at Department of Dermatology, Chungnam National University Hospital from 1982 to 1985 to find out the epidemiology and clinical course. The results were as follows: 1. The annual prevalence rate of herpes zoster ranged 1.5% to 2.0%(mean 1.8%) and did not increase during 8 years from 1977 to 1984. 2. There was no sexual difference. 3. Herpes zoster was seen most frequently in the 50-59 year age group (24.4%), in July in a year (16.7%) and during summer(34.6%). 4. The dermatomic involvement of herpes zoster was most common on thoracic nerve(48.7%), and others were trigerminal nerve (28.2%), cervical nerve (14.1%), lumbar nerve(6.4%) and sacral nerve(2.6%) in order. 5. The interval of onset of subjective symptoms and vesicle appearance was 3.9 days in average. The mean duration of treatment was 13.8 days. There was a tendency that both interval and duration increased with increasing age. 6. The most common complication of herpes zoster was postherpetic neuralgia (6.4%) and others were keratoconjunctivitis(2.5%), herpes zoster with aberrant vesicles (2.5%) and recurrent herpes zoster (1.3%).

A plasma-doping (PLAD) process utilizing a PH3 plasma is presented to fabricate a n+/p ultrashallow junction at room temperature. When PLAD is completed, an excimer laser annealing (ELA) process is performed using an ArF (193 nm) excimer laser with pre-annealing. In our case, the preannealing is conducted for 5 min at 500℃ in a thermal furnace. The energy density of the excimer laser used for the ELA process ranged from 400 to 500 mJ/cm2. Transmission electron microscope (TEM) and double-crystal X-ray diffraction (DXRD) measurements were employed to investigate defects on the plasma-doped samples. Some point defects were found in the DXRD analysis while TEM images reveal no crystalline defects. The result of a secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS) analysis on the formed shallow n+/p junction revealed that the junction depth was thinner than 40 nm. We found that the drive-in process of phosphorous occurred only when the energy density of the laser was larger than 460 mJ/cm2, and an increased laser energy density resulted in a decreased sheet resistance. With an energy density of 460 mJ/cm2, a junction depth of 30 nm and a sheet resistance of 151.6 Ω/□ were obtained. The leakage current for the fabricated n+/p junction was indirectly investigated by measuring the I-V characteristics of the diode fabricated using PLAD, followed by the ELA processes.
Self-reported Sleep Impairment in Functional Dyspepsia and Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Background/Aims Sleep impairment is a common complaint among patients with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and functional dyspepsia (FD). This study aimed to evaluate the prevalence of sleep impairment in FD or IBS patients, and to determine whether IBS-FD overlap induced more sleep disturbance than FD or IBS alone. Methods A population-based cohort in South Korea including 2251 subjects was asked about gastrointestinal symptoms including IBS and dyspepsia-related symptoms. In addition, sleep disturbance was measured using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index and Epworth Sleepiness Scale questionnaires. One-way ANOVA and logistic regression were used to assess differences among the 4 groups (healthy subjects, IBS alone, FD alone, and IBS-FD overlap). Results Of 2251 subjects who were surveyed by questionnaire, 2031 responded (92.5% response rate) and were analyzed. The prevalence of IBS, FD, and IBS-FD overlap was 8.0% (95% confidence interval [CI], 6.8–9.2%), 4.8% (95% CI, 3.9–5.8%), and 1.8% (95% CI, 1.2–2.4%), respectively. FD alone, but not IBS alone, was significantly associated with a poorer sleep quality index (OR, 2.68; 95% CI, 1.43–5.01) and more daytime sleepiness (OR, 2.21; 95% CI, 1.14–4.30), compared to healthy subjects. IBS-FD overlap had the greatest likelihood of a poorer sleep quality index (OR, 3.88; 95% CI, 1.83–8.19), daytime sleepiness (OR, 2.47; 95% CI, 1.01–5.67), and insomnia (OR, 2.84; 95% CI, 1.39–5.82), compared to healthy subjects. Conclusion A correlation between functional gastrointestinal disorders and sleep disturbance was demonstrated, which was significantly pronounced in the context of IBS-FD overlap.

To determine a potential of new sludge fertilizer for horticultural crops, comparative studies between commercial fertilizers (Jandibiryo and Wonyebokbi) and sludge fertilizer (Sludgebiryo) were made through examining the growth responses on zoysiagrass (Zoysia japponica Steud.) and several horticultural plants. 1. The pH of new sludge fertilizer remained near 6.5 regardless the particle size. The solubility of elements was highest in phosphorus, followed by nitrogen and potassium in the order. Especially, desorption of potassium was continued up to 48 hrs after solubilization. 2. There was an increase in shoot number per plant, length of stolon and rhizome, and root weight as well as clipping yield of zoysiagrass in the treatment of large size Sludgebiryo compared to small one and Jandibiryo. 3. Regardless the size of fertilizers, Sludgebiryo increased flower numbers in salvia (Salvia officinalis L. 'Hatzazz') compared to Wonyebokbi, although the difference was not great, However, leaf area and fresh weight of plant were more increased in Wonyebokbi application. 4, Flower diameter of marigold (Tagetes erecta L. 'Inca') was slightly increased in Sludgebiryo application, but the average number of lateral shoots and fresh weight per plant were significantly increased in the treatment of Wonyebokbi application. 5. Sludgebiryo effectively increased the length of both main and lateral shoots, number of flowers and weight of shoot in vinca (Vinca rosea L. 'Little Linde'), but root growth of plant was higher in Wonyebokbi application. 6, No differences between Wonyebokbi and Sludgebiryo were found in promoting the growth of leaves of perilla (Perilla frutescens Hara 'Yubsil' ), but chlorophyll content and seed weight were slightly higher in the application of Wonyebokbi compared to Sludgebiryo. In conclusion, the effectiveness of Sludgebiryo for horticultural plants was almost equal to commercial fertilizers such as Jandibiryo or Wonyebokbi. Expecially, Sludgebiryo appeared to effective on the growth of zoysiagrass, and the increase of flower size and numbers in flower crops. Results indicate that new-made Sludgebiryo can be recommended for turfgrass culture, and the flower crops in which quality depends on flower number and flower size.

This experiment was focused on determining the potential of sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) as fungicide against seed-borne fungi. Effects of NaOCl to control seed-borne fungi were compared to the those of Benlate T in several crop seeds. 1. The effect of NaOCl on disinfection of sesame seeds without imparing germination was highest in the range of 1-2% solution for 10 min. Also, a 30 min immersion of rice seed in 1-2% solution reduced incedence of seed-borne fungi. 2, Aiternaria spp. in seeds of radish and chinese cabbage and Colletoricum spp. in pepper were significantly reduced by a 10 min immersion of seeds in 1% NaOCl, 3. The effective control range of NaOCl for seed-borne fungi was much wider than that of Benlate T in sesame seeds. No clear difference between chemicals was found in rice seeds, However, germination of seeds were impaired at 1-2% NaOCl immersion for more than 1 hour.

본 논문은 교도소 출입문의 모든 개폐 현황과 정보를 온라인 네트워크를 통하여 중앙의 통제실에서 실시간으로 확인할 수 있도록 하고, 실별, 층별로 위치한 다수의 출입문 개폐동작을 개별 또는 병렬로 동시에 동작할 수 있도록 하는 중양통제에 의한 양방향 제어시스템을 구성하였다. 현재 사용 중인 125㎑대 RFID기술의 단점을 보완하기 위해서 13.56㎒대 RFID 기술을 적용하여 보안 및 신뢰성 문제를 해결하였으며, 비정상적으로 문이 열릴 경우 경광등 및 경보음을 울리도록 하는 온라인 통제 및 관리 시스템을 개발하였다. The paper represented central management system of dual direction that does opening and shutting, real-time check of various doors of the prison in the on-line network. To remove a fault of 125㎑ RFID technology, we use 13.56㎒ RFID technology, can solve the problem of the maintenance and trust, development of on-line control and management system that ring the alarm in the abnormal opening and shutting doors.
