Backgound: The genetic factors involved in the etiology of human leukmia have been discussed including the occurence of leukemia in twins, leukmia in relatives of leukemic patients, the relation of genotypes and phenotypes to leukemia, and the complication of leukemia in various congenital diseases associated with chromosomal abnormalties and/or immunodeficiencies, but there are many problems that remain to be clarified. Case: We experienced 2 cases of acute myelogenous leukemia within a family. Young brother and elderly sister whose father had been died of acute leukemia was diagnosed as AML (M4) and AML (M1), respectively. The sister aged 19 presented with dizziness and dyspnea was given Ara-c and Daunorubicin chemotheraphy but expired without response. Young brother aged 17 presented with fever and epistaxis was responded well to the same regimen chemotheraphy, in remission. But his leukemia was relapsed despite of following 2 cycles of consolidation chemotherapy, and died of 7 months after treatment. Known leukemogenic factor such as, radiation, drug, chemical exposure was excluded in these patient. Conclusion: Although about 130 cases of familial leukemia has been described to date in other countries, no case has been reported in Korea. So we report this case with brief review of the literiture.

Since the motor is driven by an inverter, it is essential to design the motor in consideration of electrical specifications. The DC link voltage limits the fundamental armature voltage of the motor. Ultra-high-speed motors have large voltage drop due to inductance. In order to satisfy the voltage-limit condition, a permanent magnet (PM) overhang structure can be considered to reduce the inductance voltage drop. Since back-electromotive force (EMF) increases when the PM overhang structure is applied, the stack length may be reduced at the same level as back-EMF. Accordingly, the inductance voltage drop is reduced due to the reduction of the stack length. In particular, since surfaced-mounted synchronous motor (SPMSM) does not generate reluctance torque, the same output torque can be maintained even when the inductance is reduced through a PM overhang structure. The PM overhang factor is used to reduce the computation time by reflecting the effect of the PM overhang structure in the 2-dimensional finite element analysis. Accordingly, the distributed winding SPMSM is designed to reduce the inductance by reflecting the PM overhang factor.

Yeast autonomously replicating sequence binding factor I (ABF-I) is a multifunctional phosphoprotein which plays a role in DNA replication and transcription. We fused two different portion of yeast ABFI gene to the ${\beta}-Galactosidase$ gene and expressed the fusion proteins in E. coli cells. Two kinds of fusion proteins, ABFI(55-104)-lacZ and ABFI(55-367)-lacZ were produced under the control of E. coli tac promoter at a level of 35~40% and 10~15%, respectively, of total bacterial proteins. The fusion proteins retained the ${\beta}-Galactosidase$ activity. The larger fusion protein was expressed in soluble forms, while the smaller fusion protein was expressed in an 80% soluble form. The two fusion proteins were purified by ${\beta}-Galactosidase$ affinity chromatography. The fusion proteins contained the zinc finger motif derived from ABF-I protein but did not bind to the ABF I binding site of ARS1. The results imply a possibility that if the zinc finger motif serves as DNA binding motif, other additional regions may be required for ABF I to bind to its recognition sequence.
Asymmetric Motor Design Process with High-Efficiency and Low Torque Ripple for Electric Vehicles

To design a high-efficiency electric vehicle traction motor with a low torque ripple, the optimal design for the asymmetric structure of the motor is performed. Sensitivity is analyzed to select response-sensitive variables among the shape parameters of the motor increased due to the asymmetric structure. Through the sensitivity analysis result, the optimal design process is proposed that can reduce the computation time and at the same time secure the reliability of the optimization result. The motor designed through the proposed process has advantages over the initial model in terms of average efficiency and torque ripple.

Generally, diesel vehicles emit the toxic gases including nitrogen and produce noise during operation. these problems deteriorate the comport of passangers, environmental pollutions and energy saving. As the solution for the above-mentioned problems. the method. which involves the injection of high pressure and atomization of fuel, is needed to improve the combution process of diesel engine. In this study, researches for performance improvement of the high pressure control valve with proportional solenoid actuator used in Common Rail System of diesel vehicle were accomplished. Also, the results of numerical analysis from the FEM and effects of the design parameters were discussed.
