This paper is to present the direction to efficiently manage human resources, and to reinforce the capability of employees by inducing job satisfaction and organizational commitment based on the empowerment for the employed working in the elderly nursing facilities. It is indicated as a whole that LMX has a significant effect on the components of empowerment including right and ability, significance and competence. As well, the early mentioned significance and competence influence job satisfaction and organizational commitment. Job satisfaction, in turn, seems to have a significant impact on organizational commitment. The findings show that, comparing group with organizational supports to groups without organizational supports, there is some difference between the influence and the order of the cause-and-effect relationship. In line with the difference between the two groups, the author figures out one remarkable point that, in case of the latter groups, the right and ability has an significantly negative(-) effect on job satisfaction and organizational commitment. It is because, the more rights and abilities the groups with organizational supports have, the less job satisfaction and organizational commitment the groups show concurrently with the heavier burden on job. There are some following theoretical implications based on the findings. First, the quality of LMX and the level of empowerment go in parallel with each other. Second, the components of empowerment can be different depending on various situations. For the elderly nursing facilities, the components consist of significance, right and ability, and competence. Third, the components of empowerment partly influence heavily on job satisfaction and organizational commitment. Fourth, without any support from organizations, the more power and ability the group has, the less job satisfaction and organizational commitment it shows. The author presents the following practical implications based on the findings. First,it is important that any head of the elderly nursing facilities gives the willing to support all the time relating to the relevant work through communication with his or her subordinates, which can result in accumulating trust each other. Second, the head of nursing homes should always communicate with his or her subordinate that their job has a significant meaning in their working place, and prepare for incentives for them enough to voluntarily improve their working capability to the fullest extent possible. Third, it is considered that, in the group without any support from organizations, the right and ability rather adversely influence job satisfaction and organizational commitment. Because the heavier rights and abilities can be a burden on the employed in poor working conditions, it is deemed better to allocate evenly or lower slightly those rights and abilities.

The present study was undertaken to determine the inhibitory effects of orally administered ginseng saponins (GS), protopanaxadiol saponins (PD), protopanaxatriol saponins (PT) and ginseng ether fraction (GE) on the development of morphine induced tolerance and physical dependence in mice and also to determine the hepatic glutathione contents. GS, PD and PT inhibited significantly the development of morphine induced tolerance and physical dependence, but GE was effective only on the inhibition of the development of morphine induced physical dependence. GS, PD, PT and GE also inhibited the hepatic glutathione level decrease induced by morphine multiple injections.
S-290 A case of MELAS in MIDD patient

Mitochondrial encephalomyopathy, lactic acidosis, stroke-like episodes syndrome (MELAS syndrome) and Maternally inherited diabetes and deafness(MIDD) are disease that occurs because of the same mutations in mitochondrial DNA(A3243G). The symptoms occur primarily in the skeletal muscle, central nervous system, heart, renal tubules, and pancreas, all of which have high energy demands. The onset of symptoms and clinical manifestation in patients with MELAS syndrome are diverse, depending on the affected tissues and organs, which delays the diagnosis in many cases. Common clinical features of MIDD are diabetes, neurosensory hearing loss, low BMI, short stature, and the macular dystrophy. In the present case, type 2 diabetes and hearing impairment occurred in the patient after the age of 40, and the patient had symptoms of heart failure after the age of 60. MIDD was suspected during differential diagnosis, and DNA testing revealed a 3243A>G mitochondrial DNA mutation, which confirmed MIDD. 3 mohth after diagnosis, the patient was hospitalized in the department of neurology after visiting the emergency department with a chief complaint of hallucination. MR brain imaging was performed and showed diffuse restricted lesions along the cortices of the right temporal and left temporoparietal lobes, indicating a high possibility that it was due to MELAS when compared with the previous test results.

<P><B>Aims</B></P><P>The roles of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR)-δ in vascular biology are mainly unknown. We investigated the effects of PPAR<B>-δ</B> activation on the paracrine networks between endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) and endothelial cells (ECs)/skeletal muscle.</P><P><B>Methods and results</B></P><P>Treatment of EPCs with GW501516, a PPAR-<B>δ</B> agonist, induced specifically matrix metallo-proteinase (MMP)-9 by direct transcriptional activation. Subsequently, this increased-MMP-9 broke down insulin-like growth factor-binding protein (IGFBP)-3, resulting in IGF-1 receptor (IGF-1R) activation in surrounding target cells. Treatment of conditioned medium from GW501516-stimulated EPCs enhanced the number and functions of human umbilical vein ECs and C2C12 myoblasts via MMP-9-mediated IGF-1R activation. Systemic administration of GW501516 in mice increased MMP-9 expression in EPCs, and augmented IGFBP-3 degradation in serum. In a mouse hindlimb ischaemia model, systemic treatment of GW501516 or local transplantation of GW501516-treated EPCs induced IGF-1R phosphorylation in ECs and skeletal muscle in the ischaemic limbs, leading to augmented angiogenesis and skeletal muscle regeneration. It also enhanced wound healing with increased angiogenesis in a mouse skin punch wound model. These pro-angiogenic and muscle-regenerating effects were abolished by MMP-9 knock-out.</P><P><B>Conclusion</B></P><P>Our results suggest that PPAR-<B>δ</B> is a crucial modulator of angio-myogenesis via the paracrine effects of EPCs, and its agonist is a good candidate as a therapeutic drug for patients with peripheral vascular diseases.</P>

The model to calculate the solar radiation at the surface was developed and the annual global solar radiation calculated by the model was compared with the KMA(Korea Meteorological Administration) surface measured data The difference between calculated and measured values was distinguished clearly because of the calibration problem of the pyranometer, but the global distribution of solar radiation calculated by the model was very similar to NREL(National Renewable Energy Laboratory) result of USA.
음이온 교환수지에 의한 희토류 이온의 용리현상 및 희토류 원소 아민류 착물합성

DTPA 용리액의 pH와 농도를 변화 시키면서 음이온 교환수지관을 이용해서 희토류 원소들을 분리하는 연구를 하였다. 희토류 원소들의 가장 좋은 분리조건은 0.025M-DTPA, pH8.35이었으며 희토류 원소들의 용리순서는 Sm을 제외하고 희토류 원소들의 원자번호 순서와 일치하며 희토류 원소와 DTPA간의 착물 안정도 상수는 희토류 원소들의 이온반경에 의존하는 것으로 생각된다. 0.025M-DTPA pH8.35에서 분리한 인접 희토류 원소들의 Resoluion value는 3.03으로 최대값을 Eu-Gd은 1.25의 최소값을 각각 갖는다. 0.025M-DTPA로 희토류 원소들을 용리하였을때, pH8.0~pH8.6의 넓은 범위에서 비교적 좋은 분리현상을 보였다. 희토류 금속과 DTPA는 1:1 착물을 형성하여 용출액 중의 잔류이온은 H^+, NH^+_4의 희토류 금속이온 및 킬레이트 이온등이다. 용리액을 pH8.2 및 8.6으로 조절하여 음이온 교환수지에서 Er^3+과 La^3+을 분리한 결과 용출액 중의 La^3+과 Er^3+의 농도는 49.2 및 49.6 mequiv.dm^-3(pH8.2)에서 51.5 및 51.3 mequiv.dm^-3(pH8.40)으로 각각 증가하였다. The separation of the rare earth elements with diethylene triamine N, N, N´ , N´-, N˝ pentaacetic acid(D.T.P.A) as eluent was carried out at different pH and concentrations by using anion exchange resin column. There are earth elements were absorbed on the upper of the resin column and the best of the separation behavior was 0.025M of D. T. P. A at pH 9.35. The elution order of the rare earths was in the order of the atomic number of the rare earth elements except samarium. We can assume that the stability of the chelates formed between D. T. P.A and the rare earth elements were related to the ionic radii of the latter. The resolution of adjacent rare earth elements that have been separated with 0.025M-DTPA as eluent, was from 3.03 to 1.25 at pH 8.35. Resolution of Ce-Pr was maximum value in 3.03 and Eu-Gd was minimum in 1.25 at condition mentioned above, respectively. The resolution of rare earth elements separated with 0.025M-DTPA eluent was very good at pH range of 8.0-8.6. The retaining ion was H^+ and the pHs of the eluting solutions were between pH8.2 and 8.4. The composition of the lanthanide bands under equilibrium condition have been determined, and the the concentration of La^3+ and Er^3+ in the effluent has increased from 49.2 and 49.6 mequiv. dm^-3 at pH 8.20 to 51.5 and 51.3 mequiv. dm^-3 at pH8.40, respectively.
