Data Clustering Using Hybrid Neural Network

Clustering plays an indispensable role for data analysis. Many clustering algorithms have been developed. However, most of them suffer poor performance of learning. To archive good clustering performance, we develop a hybrid neural network model. It is the combination of Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP) and Adaptive Resonance Theory 2 (ART2). It inherits two distinct advantages of stability and plasticity from ART2. Meanwhile, by combining the merits of MLP, it improves the performance for clustering. Experiment results show that our model can be used for clustering with promising performance.
Comparative analysis of two recurrent neural networks for predicting the Lorenz system

In this paper, a brief comparison of two recurrent neural networks (RNN) is presented. We compare a single hidden layer network with lateral connection trained by backpropagation algorithm and the echo state network(ESN). Both networks have similar structures, yet different training algorithms. We focus on predicting the solution of Lorenz dynamical system. In the simulation, in order to make sure that both networks have equal number of trainable weights, the number of nodes was set different for each of two networks. As expected RNN with back-propagation outperforms ESN, however, the backpropagation algorithm is more computationally demanding and its convergence is not guaranteed, hence, ESN is appropriate choice as a first approximation in predicting dynamics systems.

Background: To study clinical radiological symptoms and microbiological tests of tuberculosis with multidrug resistant MBT (MDR-TB). Methods: 43 patients of MDR-TB treated in Saint-Petersburg Research Institute of Phthisiopulmonology in 2011 year aged from 21 to 64 (34M/9F) were examined by laboratory, radiological, microbiological tests. New cases of tuberculosis were determined at 28% of them, at other patients disease`s duration made from 2 to 8 years. Results: 76% patients complained of cough. Weakness, fever, a weight loss were in 64% cases. Radiologically at all patients tuberculosis involved both lungs, in 100% of cases were cavities with various sizes and 54% of cavities were multiple. MDR MBT was found in all patients: in 42% of cases it was fi rst episode of MDRTB, 1/3 of them had primary resistance of MBT. At 58% cases MDR MBT was detected 1-2 years before and these patients had in past one ineffective course at least. Except resistance to isoniazid and rifampicin second-line drug resistance was identified. Primary second-line drug resistance to ethionamide was found in 55% of patients` culture, 45% - to ofl oxacine, 55% - to kanamicine. At patients with TB history resistance to ethionamide was detected in 73% cases, to ofl oxacine - in 28%, to kanamicine - in17%. 12% of patients had extensively drug-resistant tuberculosis (XDR-TB). The predominant spoligotypes of MBT were Beijing (25-58% MBT isolates), LAM (8- 18% MBT isolates) and Haarlem (4-9% MBT isolates). Conclusions: MDR-TB characterized by severe currency of tuberculosis with expressed clinical and radiological symptoms. Only 13% cases with MDR MBT had primary MDRTB, in the most of them MDR MBT followed earlier treatment. Beijing family MBT dominated among patients and associated with MDR-TB. It is necessary also to carry out drug sensibility test to second- line TB drugs as for new cases of tuberculosis and earlier treated.
Multicomponent perfect fluid with variable parameters in $n$ Ricci-flat spaces

A D-dimensional cosmological model describing the evolution of a multicomponent perfect uid with variable barotropic parameters in n Ricci- at spaces is investigated. The equations of motion are integrated for the case when each component possesses an isotropic pressure with respect to all spaces. Exact solutions are presented in the Kasner-like form. Some explicit examples are given: A 4-dimensional model with an isotropic accelerated expansion at late times and a (4+d)-dimensional model describing a compactication of extra dimensions.

The paper presents an experimental study of pathological human bile taken from the gallbladder and bile ducts. The flow dependences were obtained for different types of bile from patients with the same pathology, but of different age and sex. The parameters of the Casson's and Carreau's equations were found for bile samples. Results on the hysteretic bile behavior at loading-unloading tests are also presented, which proved that the pathologic bile is a non-Newtonian thixotropic liquid. The viscosity of the gallbladder bile was shown to be higher compared to the duct bile. It was found that at higher shear stress the pathological bile behaves like Newtonian fluid, which is explained by reorientation of structural components. Moreover, some pathological bile flow in the biliary system CFD simulations were performed. The velocity and pressure distributions as well as flow rates in the biliary segments during the gallbladder refilling and emptying phases are obtained. The results of CFD simulations can be used for surgeons to assess the patient's condition and choose an adequate treatment.
COMPILE—A Generic Benchmark Case for Predictions of Marine Pile-Driving Noise

<P>The prediction of underwater noise emissions from impact pile driving during near-shore and offshore construction activities and its potential effect on the marine environment has been a major field of research for several years. A number of different modeling approaches have been suggested recently to predict the radiated sound pressure at different distances and depths from a driven pile. As there are no closed-form analytical solutions for this complex class of problems and for a lack of publicly available measurement data, the need for a benchmark case arises to compare the different approaches. Such a benchmark case was set up by the Institute of Modelling and Computation, Hamburg University of Technology (Hamburg, Germany) and the Organisation for Applied Scientific Research (TNO, The Hague, The Netherlands). Research groups from all over the world, who are involved in modeling sound emissions from offshore pile driving, were invited to contribute to the first so-called COMPILE (a portmanteau combining computation, comparison, and pile) workshop in Hamburg in June 2014. In this paper, the benchmark case is presented, alongside an overview of the seven models and the associated results contributed by the research groups from six different countries. The modeling results from the workshop are discussed, exhibiting a remarkable consistency in the provided levels out to several tens of kilometers. Additionally, possible future benchmark case extensions are proposed.</P>
