Eucalyptus pellita F. Muell is one of pulp woods that is being developed through breeding plantation programs in Indonesia. The research aimed at exploring the chemical and morphological characteristics of fiber, and to determine the rank of plus trees from 4 provenances based on the suitability for pulps. The materials included the plus trees of E. pellita (9 years) from the 2nd generation of progeny tests in Pelaihari, South Borneo. Wood properties under investigation included the chemical properties and morphological fiber characteristics (fiber dimensions and its derived properties). In the present study, data were analyzed using descriptive statistic, Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Pearson``s correlation. Results showed that the chemical properties of E. pellita, i.e. the contents of ethanol-toluene extractives, hot water soluble extractives, holocellulose, alphacelullose, and lignin were 3.08 ± 1.00%, 1.41 ± 0.38%, 75.26 ± 2.58%, 49.02 ± 2.88%, and 29.49 ± 1.86%, respectively. The average values of wood fiber morphology were 1.02 ± 0.08 mm (fiber length), 13.25 ± 1.64 μm (fiber diameter), of 6.94 ± 1.70 μm (lumen diameter), 3.15 ± 0.52 μm (fiber wall thickness), 0.97 ± 0.30 (Runkel ratio), 0.57 ± 0.10 (Luce``s shape factor), 78.21 ± 10.34 (slenderness ratio) and 130.91 ± 33.77 × 10³ μm³ (solids factor). The AHP scoring rank indicated that the best individuals were 28.4.3.28 (Kiriwo Utara), 12.1.5.28 (North Kiriwo), 19.11.5.45 (Serisa Village), 3.8.4.9 (South Kiriwo), and 6.6.3.15 (South Kiriwo). Pearson correlation analysis showed significant correlations between the levels of fiber length with alpha-cellulose content (r = 0.39) as well as the fiber length with ethanol-toluene extractive contents (r = -0.41).

<P><B>Abstract</B></P><P><B>Aims/Introduction</B></P><P>Biosimilar insulin can reduce treatment costs, although the extent of its use is largely unknown. We examined biosimilar insulin use and its associations with the quality of glycemic control using the Joint Asia Diabetes Evaluation register.</P><P><B>Materials and Methods</B></P><P>We carried out a cross‐sectional analysis in 81,531 patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes enrolled into the Joint Asia Diabetes Evaluation Program from 2007 to 2014. All insulin related terms are extracted from the Joint Asia Diabetes Evaluation portal, and compared clinical profiles between biosimilar and originator insulin users. Multivariate analysis was performed to assess the association of biosimilar insulin compared with originator insulin with dosage, glycated hemoglobin and hypoglycemia events.</P><P><B>Results</B></P><P>Amongst 81,531 patients, 20.5% (<I>n</I> = 16,738) were insulin‐treated. In four countries with high use of biosimilar insulin, 4.7% (<I>n</I> = 719) of insulin users (<I>n</I> = 10,197) were treated with biosimilar insulin (India <I>n</I> = 507, 70.3%; the Philippines <I>n</I> = 90, 12.5%; China <I>n</I> = 62, 8.6%; Vietnam <I>n</I> = 60, 8.3%). Biosimilar insulin users were younger and had higher body mass index, glycated hemoglobin, insulin dosage and more frequent hypoglycemia than originator insulin users. These associations were non‐significant after adjustment for confounders. Only age, college education, diabetes education, lipid control, physical activity and history of cardiovascular complications were independently associated with these quality measures.</P><P><B>Conclusions</B></P><P>Biosimilar insulin use is not uncommon in Asia. Data exclusion due to incomplete capturing of brand names suggests possibly higher use. The multiple determinants of the quality of glycemic control call for establishment of prospective cohorts and diabetes registers to monitor the safety and efficacy of different brands of biosimilar insulin and their impacts on clinical outcomes.</P>

In Electric motors, identifi cation of insulation and winding faults in stator and rotor during running state is a challenging task. Winding and insulation fault is identifi ed through burning smell of coil, evaluating the effi ciency of motor, or dismantling of motor. Motor running with winding and insulation faults lead to coil-to-coil and phase-to-phase short circuit fault. Winding insulation and winding coil fault in motor leads to unbalanced and diff erential fl ux radiation. Monitoring the winding and insulation during running state of motor is a challenging task. In this paper, monitoring of stator and rotor winding is proposed through NIR sensor during running state of motor. Near Infra-Red (NIR) sensor is fi xed in air gaps of motor. NIR refl ect rays from winding fl ux through air gaps are analysed for faults in stator and rotor winding and insulation. NRI refl ected signals process with spectral band separation and NIR refl ected residual (NRR) signals are obtained. NRR signal process with Tunable Q Wavelet Transform (TQWT) for monitoring and detecting, the insulation and winding fault of motor. Motor allowed to operate at diff erent induced faults such as no load, loaded, stator, rotor insulation fault and stator, rotor-winding fault and NRR signal obtained. Q-factor base Energy band of NRR signals are analysed for winding and insulation faults through sub band energy variations. The low and high frequency component of faulty NRR signal detect with TQWT more accurately. The performance of NIR sensor-based winding and insulation fault diagnosis is compared with conventional transducers such as current signatures and radar signals. The NIR sensor based NRR signals classifi es insulation and winding fault accurately of about 92% compared to current signal signatures.

Hemophagocytic syndrome (HPS) is a rare, life-threatening, hematologic disorder which might arises secondary to infection, autoimmune disease or malignancy. It is most often characterized by prolonged fever, splenomegaly, and cytopenia of at least two lineages. Splenic tuberculosis is a rare form of extrapulmonary tuberculosis. No particular set of clinical symptoms or imaging findings is characteristic for splenic tuberculosis. We are reporting a case of HPS associated with splenic tuberculosis in 36 year old male who was admitted to our hospital due to persistent fever for the past 3months. He complained of distended belly, weakness, night sweats and weight loss. He lives in a rural village which is known to be an endemic area of malaria and tuberculosis. Histopathological examination of spleen tissue supported the diagnosis of splenic tuberculosis. Diagnosis of HPS were established by the presence of fever, splenomegaly, pancytopenia, hypofi brinogenemia and serum ferritin level more than 500 μg/l. Additional supportive evidences were hepatomegaly, elevated lactate dehydrogenase and slightly-hypoplastic marrow.

In the present paper sufficient conditions for the existence of almost periodic solutions of impulsive integro-differential equations are obtained. The investigations are carried out by means piecewise continuous functions which are generalizations of the classical Lyapunov functions and the comparison principle.
Multi-Band Antenna System for Skin Implant

<P>In this letter, two skin-implantable biotelemetry devices are presented along with an antenna system that operates on five bands, including the Medical Implant Communication Service (MICS) (402-405 MHz) and the Industrial, Scientific, and Medical (ISM) (433.1-434.8 MHz, 868.0-868.6 MHz, 902-928 MHz, 2400.0-2483.5 MHz) bands. A link budget analysis was used to configure an algorithm for effective device operation. These devices contain space for storage batteries, controlling electronics, and bio-sensors, along with a planar inverted-F antenna (PIFA), and have total volume of 617 and 510 mm(3) respectively. These devices were primarily designed and simulated in different environments with FDTD software. In addition, the performance of the antenna system was evaluated from measurements made inside a skin-mimicking semi-solid homogeneous phantom. This research shows that multi-channel communication will enhance the diversity of biotelemetry devices.</P>
