      • 데이터 글러브를 이용한 손 제스처 기반 3차원 게임 구현

        데이터 글러브(Data Glove)는 손 제스처를 정의하여 시스템을 제어하는 입력장치로 가상현실기술 및 교육, 의료, 산업분야에서 많이 사용되고 있다. 이는 가상현실 속에 존재하는 사물을 현실에서 제어하게 함으로써 사용자에게 마치 현실 세계의 사물을 제어하는 느낌을 주는 장점을 가지고 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 이러한 데이터 글러브의 장점을 이용하여 3차원 게임에 적용시키는 방법을 제안한다. 먼저 데이터 글러브로 제스처를 정의하고, 트래커(Tracker)와 연동하여 시스템을 구현한다. 구현된 시스템을 실험하기 위해서 OpenGL로 인형 뽑기 게임을 구현하고 사용자가 데이터 글러브를 착용 후 정의된 제스처를 통해 게임을 제어하도록 한다. 본 논문에서 제안한 방법은 사용자들에게 좀 더 높은 몰입감을 제공하며, 향후 게임 산업 발전에도 많은 영향을 줄 것으로 기대한다.

        Background:?Electrolyte and mineral disturbances remain a major concern in patients undergoing continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT); however, it is not clear whether those imbalances are associated with adverse outcomes in patients with septic acute kidney injury (AKI) undergoing CRRT.?Methods:?We conducted a post-hoc analysis of data from a prospective randomized controlled trial. Two hundred ten patients with a mean age of 62.2 years (136 [64.8%] males) in two hospitals were enrolled. Levels of sodium, potassium, calcium, and phosphate measured before (0 h) and 24 h after CRRT initiation.?Results:?Before starting CRRT, at least one deficiency and excess in electrolytes or minerals were observed in 126 (60.0%) and 188 (67.6%) patients, respectively. The excess in these parameters was greatly improved, whereas hypokalemia and hypophosphatemia became more prevalent at 24 h after CRRT. One and two or more deficiencies in those parameters at the two time points were not associated with mortality. However, during 28 days, 89 (71.2%) deaths occurred in patients with phosphate levels at 0 h of ≥4.5 mg/dL as compared with 49 (57.6%) in patients with phosphate levels <4.5 mg/dL. The 90-day mortality was also significantly higher in patients with hyperphosphatemia. Similarly, in 184 patients who survived at 24 h after CRRT, hyperphosphatemia conferred a 2.2-fold and 2.6-fold increased risk of 28- and 90-day mortality, respectively. The results remained unaltered when serum phosphate level was analyzed as a continuous variable.?Conclusions: Electrolyte and mineral disturbances are common, and hyperphosphatemia may predict poor prognosis in septic AKI patients undergoing CRRT.?Keywords: Acute kidney injury (AKI), continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), electrolyte

      • S-483 Albumin Level Modifies Paradoxical Effect between BMI and Mortality in AKI Patients Undergoing CRRT

        Background: Nutritional status is generally accepted as a factor to explain the paradoxical association between high body mass index (BMI) and survival benefit in critical ill patients. Patients with acute kidney injury (AKI), particularly those receiving continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), are highly catabolic and more susceptible to loss of energy. Thus, we aimed to investigate the relationship between albumin level, BMI, and mortality in these patients. Methods: We conducted an observational study in 573 patients who had undergone CRRT owing to various causes of AKI between 2010 and 2014. Patients were divided into quartiles according to BMI ; Q1, 12.7 - 20.9; Q2, 21.0 - 23.5; Q3, 23.6 - 26.5; Q4, 26.6 - 45.3 and also classified into two groups by albumin (albumin <3.0g/dL or ≥ 3.0g/dL) in each quartile. The study end point was defined as death that occurred within 30 days after the initiation of CRRT. Results: The mean age was 61.5 years and 355 (63.1%) patients were male. The mean levels of BMI and albumin were 23.9±4.3 kg/m2 and 2.6±0.6 g/dL, respectively. Kidney function, comorbidity index, and sepsis-related organ failure assessment (SOFA) score were not significantly different among the BMI quartile groups. During 30 days after the initiation of CRRT, 85 patients (59.4%) died in the highest quartile as compared with 106 patients (73.6%) in the lowest quartile (p=0.012). In a multivariable analysis adjusted for sex, blood pressure, estimated glomerular filtration rate, sepsis, age adjusted Charlson comorbidity score, SOFA score, albumin and white blood cell count, CRRT prescription, the highest quartile of BMI was associated with a decreased risk of death [hazard ratio (HR), 0.61; 95% confidence interval (CI), 0.46-0.82; p=0.001]. This association remained unaltered in low albumin group (HR, 0.58; 95% CI, 0.41-0.80; p=0.001), whereas no such relationship was seen in high albumin group (HR, 0.72; 95% CI, 0.35-1.48; p=0.37).?Conclusions: This study showed that a protective effect of high BMI was observed in AKI patients undergoing CRRT only in patients with low albumin levels, and this effect was lost in patients with higher albumin levels.

        Objective:?We investigated the effect of PTD-mediated BMP-7 (tissue-regeneration polypeptide 2, TRP2) on TGF-β1-induced EMT in cultured human peritoneal mesothelial cells (HPMCs). In addition, we investigated how to deliver the drugs to peritoneum in vivo models. Design and Method:?In vitro, HPMCs were cultured in M199 media containing 5.6 mM glucose (normal glucose, NG), NG + TGF-β1 (2 ng/ml) with or without TRP2 (100 ng/ml). After 72 hours, cells were harvested. In vivo, PD rat-O-port inserted into 11 Sprague-Dawley rats, and saline (control group, n=3), 4.25 % PD solution (PD group, n=3) or 4.25 % PD solution + TRP2 (PD + TRP2 group, n=5) were infused for 4 weeks. After 4 weeks, rats were sacrificed and the peritoneal tissues were removed. E-cadherin, ZO-1, α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA), snail, vimentin, type I collagen, and fibronectin protein expression in HPMCs and the peritoneum were estimated by western blot analysis, and fibronectin expression was evaluated by immunohistochemistry staining. PF was assessed by Masson’s trichrome (MT) staining. Results:?In vitro, protein expression of E-cadherin and ZO-1 (epithelial marker) were significantly decreased, while α-SMA, snail, vimentin (mesenchymal marker), type I collagen and fibronectin were significantly increased in TGF-β1-stimulated HPMCs compared to control group, and these changes were significantly improved by TRP2 treatment. In vivo, peritoneal EMT and PF were significantly increased in PD rats compared to control rats. The thickness of mesothelial layer and the intensity of MT staining in the peritoneum of PD rats were also significantly higher compared to control rats. These changes of the peritoneum in PD rats were significantly ameliorated by the administration of TRP2. Conclusions:?This study suggests that TRP2 directly inhibits the process of TGF-β1-induced PF via peritoneal EMT in HPMCs. In addition, TRP2 mitigates PF in PD rats. The effect of PTD-mediated recombinant protein delivery system may be a potential therapeutic strategy for prevention of PF in PD patients.

        무인 감시설비의 고장과 오작동으로 인해 담당자가 무인 감시시설에 도착할 때까지 생기는 시간 지연과 침입자의 침입으로 인한 시설물 절도, 파손 그리고 정보유출 피해가 발생할 수 있다. 또한, 장비 고장과 오작동으로 인해 관리자의 상시점검으로 인한 추가비용이 발생한다. 본 논문에서는 무인 감시설비 오작동을 보완하기 위해 실시간으로 감시설비를 진단하여 문제 발생에 관한 내용을 표시하고 자동으로 설비 전원을 복구하며 담당자에게 문자메시지로 상황을 알리는 시스템을 제안한다. 제안한 시스템은 영상장치(CCTV), 음향장비, 투광등 장치 등의 무인 감시설비 주요 시설물로 이루어진 감시설비, 이 감시설비 정보를 판단할 수 있는 통합형 네트워크 비디오 레코더 장치(NVR), 전원을 제어하는 장치, 그리고 실시간으로 문자메시지를 보낼 수 있는 SMS 서버로 구성되어 있다. 실험을 통하여 제안된 시스템의 유효성을 검증하였다. Failure and malfunction of the unmanned surveillance facility cost can lead to delays occurring until the person in charge arrives at the unmanned surveillance facility, and theft, damage, and information leakage damage caused by intruders. In addition, due to equipment failure and malfunction, additional costs are incurred due to constant inspection by the manager. In this paper, in order to compensate for the malfunction of unmanned facility costs, we propose a system that diagnoses the monitoring facility in real time, displays the contents of the problem, automatically restores the facility power, and informs the person in charge of the situation by text message. The proposed system is a surveillance facility consisting of main facilities such as video equipment (CCTV), sound equipment, floodlights, etc. And SMS server that can send text messages in real time. Through experiments, the effectiveness of the proposed system was verified.

      • Prevalence of depression and suicidal ideation increases proportionally with renal function decline, beginning from early stages of chronic kidney disease

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>Depression and suicidal ideation are prevalent mental health problems in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD. However, the association between mental health problems and kidney disease has been investigated in severe cases only. Thus, this study evaluated the relationship between mental health problems and renal function in a community-based prospective cohort study comprising patients with mild to moderate kidney disease. A total of 44,938 participants who were participated in Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey IV, V, and VI from 2007 to 2014 were enrolled. Estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) was calculated using the CKD Epidemiology Collaboration equation. The study outcome was the prevalence of depression and suicidal ideations assessed by self-reporting surveys. Logistic regression analysis was performed to evaluate the relationship between renal function and outcomes. The mean age of the study subjects was 49.2 ± 16.6 years, and the mean eGFR was 94.0 mL/min/1.73 m<SUP>2</SUP>. The prevalence of depression and suicidal ideation increased with decreasing eGFR. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that the risk of depression increased in subjects with eGFR <45 mL/min/1.73 m<SUP>2</SUP> [odds ratio (OR) 1.47; 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.09–1.98]. The risk of suicidal ideation gradually increased in groups with eGFR <90 mL/min/1.73 m<SUP>2</SUP> (OR, 1.11; 95% CI, 1.03–1.20), even after adjustments for confounding variables. In conclusion, depression and suicidal ideation are related closely with renal dysfunction. The risk of having depression and suicidal ideation increased even in patient with mild renal dysfunction. Therefore, evaluation and management strategies regarding mental health problems should be taken into account throughout all stages of CKD.</P>

      • S-454 Phosphate-Dense Diet Correlates with Decline Renal Function in Diabetic Individuals

        Background: We investigated that whether high Pi diet would affects the incidence of renal dysfunction in subjects with diabetes whose are most concerned about declining kidney function. Methods: The Korean Genome and Epidemiology Study (KoGES), a prospective community-based cohort study was used to conduct the present work. The study cohort consisted of 40- to 69-year-old residents, and the followed-up biennially from 2001 to 2014. Total of 873 diabetic and 5,846 non-diabetic subjects were included. The primary end point was a composite of eGFR <60 ml/min/1.73 m2 or the development of proteinuria. Results: The mean age was 55.6±8.7 and 51.4±8.6 years in diabetic and non-diabetic groups, and 454 (52.0%) in diabetic and 2,784 (47.6%) in non-diabetic individuals were men. The mean eGFR and Pi-dense diet (Pi/total intake) were 91.6±14.0 ml/min/1.73 m2 and 0.51±0.08 mg/kcal in diabetic group, 94.5±14.0 ml/min/1.73 m2 and 0.51±0.07 mg/kcal in non-diabetic group, respectively. Each of diabetic and non-diabetic subjects were divided into four groups according to the degree of Pi-dense diet. During a mean follow-up duration of 100.0±41.4 months in diabetic subjects and 115.4±33.8 months in non-diabetic subjects, incidence of decline renal function was observed in 283 (32.4%) and 792 (13.5%) subjects in the diabetes and non-diabetes groups. Multiple Cox proportional hazard analysis adjusted for multiple confounding factors revealed that the most Pi-dense diet group had a significantly more declining renal function events than the lesser Pi-dense diet groups in diabetic subjects (p=0.022). In contrast, there was no significant difference in the rate of declining renal function events among the groups in non-diabetic individuals (p=0.719). Conclusions: These results assuming that Pi-dense diet would affect decline renal function even in individuals with preserved renal function.

        A new compact, low-energy electron beam irradiator has been developed. The core-loss of silicon steels can be reduced by magnetic-domain refinement method. The irradiator was developed for the application of core-loss reduction using the method. The beam energy of the irradiator can be varied from 35 to 80 keV and the maximum current is 3 mA. The irradiation area is designed to be 30 × 30 mm2 now and will be upgraded to 30 × 150 mm2 using a scanning magnet and scanning cone. The electron beam generated from 3 mm diameter LaB6 is extracted to the air for the irradiation of the silicon steels in the air. A special irradiation port was developed for this low-energy irradiator. A havar foil with 4.08 μrn thickness were used for the window and a cold air-cooling system keeps the foil structure by removing heat at the window. The irradiator system and its operation characteristics will be discussed.<br/>

        Simple method for the temporal characterization of amplified spontaneous emission in femtosecond terawatt Ti:sapphire lasers

        <P>We have analyzed the temporal characteristics of amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) in femtosecond terawatt Ti:sapphire lasers by using a simple method based on fast photodiodes. Instead of measuring ASE directly with fast photodiodes, we created a narrow gap in the spectrum of seed pulses and, after amplification, detected the pure ASE signal through the gap by using a fast photodiode covered with a bandpass filter with high transmission at the gap. Because the detected ASE signal was completely separated from amplified main pulses, preceding and even trailing ASEs could be characterized quantitatively in a single-shot measurement. We believe that our method is a good alternative or a complement to conventional methods for ASE measurements.</P>
