Expression of miR-29a in whole Blood of Patients with Colorectal Neoplasm

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is major cancer with high incidence and mortality worldwide. It is known that most CRCs arise from precursor adenomatous polyps (APs). Recently, microRNA (miRNA) has been proposed as a biomarker for various cancers including CRC. In this study, the expression patterns of miR-29a in the whole blood (WB) of CRC, AP, and control groups were analyzed by reverse transcriptase-quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) to evaluate the expression level of miR-29a in patients with colorectal neoplasm (CRN) including CRC and AP. As a result, the relative expression of miR-29a was significantly decreased in the patients with CRN compared to the control group (P<0.001). The results were in agreement with previous in vitro cell studies and studies that used tissue and feces samples, suggesting that miR-29a in WB may be useful in demonstrating the status of colorectal tissue. Additionally, we divided the control group into healthy control (HC) without any colorectal symptoms and non-tumor control (NTC) with colorectal symptoms but without any CRN. And then the relative expression of miR-29a was also significantly decreased in the NTC group compared to the HC group (P<0.001). Therefore, our study revealed that miR-29a can differentiate patients with CRN from HC group, but they are also involved in the early stage of inflammatory response and cannot be specific biomarkers for CRN.

자가 적응 시스템은 사람의 직접적인 개입 없이 자율 제어를 통한 자가 최적화 (self-optimization), 자가 치유 (self-healing) 등의 능력이 요구되고, 이러한 시스템은 시스템이 조달된 환경과 시스템 내부 상황을 고려한 적절한 적응 정책과 목표 평가를 통해 시스템의 신뢰성을 보장할 수 있어야 한다. 목표 기반의 자가 제어 시스템은 목표 만족도에 따라 시스템을 자율 제어하기 때문에 목표 기반 자가 적응 시스템에서의 목표 만족도(goal satisfaction) 평가는 매우 중요하지만 기존의 연구들의 목표 만족도 평가 방법에서는 환경 변화가 반영되지 않는다는 한계가 있다. 본 논문에서는 목표 모델에서의 상위 목표에 대한 하위 목표들의 기여도에 따라 가중치를 부여하고 시스템의 외부 환경 변화에 따라 가중치를 동적으로 변경하는 방법을 제안한다. 이를 통해 기존의 목표 평가 방법보다 사용자의 요구가 잘 반영되고 신뢰성 높은 평가가 가능하다.

The objective of this study is to investigate the effects of ankle muscular strengthening exercise on balance and stair ascent and descent in college students. Selected 24 college students and randomly assigned them to the experimental and control groups. The experimental group performed ankle muscular strengthening exercise, while the control group engaged in walking exercises. The two groups performed 30-minute exercises three times a week for 4 weeks, and balance was measured using the BT4 and Step test (ST), while stair climbing and descending ability were assessed using the timed stair test (TST), The results of this study indicated that both the experimental and control groups showed a significant increase in dynamic balance, static balance and stair climbing and descending abilities (p<.05). These results suggest that the effects of four weeks of ankle muscular strengthening exercise were effective in improving balance and stair climbing and descending abilities in college students.

Here, we introduce the SMEP (Science Museum Exhibition Platform) system, which is aimed to constructa platform for sharing and exchanging the science museum exhibits and information for museum staff,focusing on natural history collections. The SMEP system currently provides a total of 3030 data ofmuseum exhibits for 11 museums currently, including all the exhibit types of science museum with 6971images for them. Among them, the natural history collections are a total of 1152 data for eight museums. The loan system of SMEP enables to exchange the collections between museums. A prototype data portalof the SMEP system is operated and will be opened after the further functional review process in later. It is expected that this platformwould improve the level of collections in the science museum and createnew value by allowing interchange and exchange of collections in science museum.
