육지로부터의 오염원에 의한 영향을 염두에 두고 남해안의 삼천포, 서해안의 보령, 서천 세곳의 연안해수중에 함유된 붕소의 농도를 측정한 결과 평균적으로 각각 3.50, 3.91, 3.95ppm으로 대양의 자연함유량보다 낮은 값이다. 이로부터 붕소배출원의 오염효과는 아직 없음을 알 수 있다. 계절별, 간'만조별 변화추세로 보아 이런 감소추세는 유입수에 의한 희석효과가 아니라 침전무기질에 의한 removal process임을 확인하였다. The composition of seawater is remarkably constant, especially boron, a bio-unlimited element, shows little natural variation in its concentration. It is tempting to try to relate the variation of the boron contents in coastal seawater to the influence of the pollution sources located along the shorelines. The average boron concentrations in surface seawater samples taken from Seochun, Boryong, and Samchunpo, where power plants are located, were 3.95, 3.91, and 3.50 in ppm respectively, which are lower values than 4.2ppm, the natural content in the ocean. This results suggest that the pollution effects from the inland or industrial waste waters are not definite yet in the sampled areas. From the tendencies in seasonal and tidal variations in different area, it is apparent that the removal processes exert the major control on the born concentration of coastal seawater, compared to mixing and dilution effects.
