This case study reports the effects of complex Korean medicine treatment, including Nangan-jeon, on Lambert-Eaton myasthenic syndrome (LEMS) accompanied by chronic constipation and abdominal pain as the main symptoms. A 39-year-old woman diagnosed with LEMS with major symptoms, including chronic constipation and acute abdominal pain, received Western treatment. The treatment efficacy was weak and symptoms recurred, so the patient received outpatient treatment and 13 days of hospitalization for active Korean medicine treatment, including Nangan-jeon. During outpatient treatment and hospitalization, defecation frequency and the numeric rating scale (NRS) for abdominal pain and abdominal cold feeling were measured. The NRS for abdominal pain and cold decreased from 8 at admission to 3 and 0, respectively, at discharge. Defecation frequency increased significantly from once or twice a month to once every 2-3 days during hospitalization. This study results that complex Korean medicine treatment, including Nangan-jeon may be useful for treating patients who mainly complain of autonomic neurological symptoms, among patients diagnosed with LEMS. In addition, it is believed that it could be basic data applicable to more LEMS patient treatment cases.
신경가동술과 관절가동술이 경추 신경근병증 환자의 기능장애, 통증, 관절가동범위에 미치는 영향

Purpose: The study aimed to investigate the effects of neural mobilization with joint mobilization on dysfunction, pain, and range of motion in cervical radiculopathy patients. Methods: Forty-seven cervical radiculopathy patients were recruited for the study. The subjects were randomly allocated to three groups. Group A (n=16) received a neural mobilization with joint mobilization, Group B (n=15) received a neural mobilization (NM), Group C (n=16) received a joint mobilization (JM). All groups had five sets for a day, three days a week, for four weeks. All subjects were evaluated before and after intervention by their neck disability index (NDI), numeric pain rating scale (NPRS), and range of motion (ROM). Results: The results were as follows: First, the NDI was significantly decreased in all groups (p<0.05). Group A had more significantly decreased NDI than Group B and C (p<0.05). Secondly, the NPRS was significantly decreased in all groups (p<0.05). Group A had more significantly decreased cervical NPRS than Group B (p<0.05). Groups A and B were more effective at decreasing upper extremity NPRS than Group C (p<0.05). Thirdly, the ROM was significantly increased in all the groups (p<0.05). Group A had more significantly improved cervical rotation ROM than Group B (p<0.05). Significant short-term effects of the NM with JM on dysfunction, pain, and range of motion in cervical radiculopathy patients were recorded in this study. Conclusion: These findings gave some indications that it may be feasible to include NM with JM in interventions with cervical radiculopathy patients.

Nowadays, implantable hearing aids have been developed to solve the problems of conventional hearing aids. In case of fully implantable hearing aids, an implantable microphone is necessary to receive sound signal beneath the skin. Normally, an implantable microphone has poor frequency response characteristics in high frequency bands of acoustic signal due to the high frequency attenuation effect of skin after implantation to human body. In this paper, the implantable microphone is designed to reduce the high frequency attenuation effect of a skin by putting its resonance frequency at the attenuated range through a finite element analysis (FEA) simulation. The designed implantable microphone through the simulated results has been fabricated by manufacturing process using bio-compatible materials. By the several in-vitro experiments with pig skin, it has been verified that the designed implantable microphone has a resonance frequency around the starting part of the attenuated range and reduces the attenuation effect.

Cystic lesions of the jaw bone are frequently encountered clinically. Although they rarely lead to development of tumors, they can result in resoption of the jaw bone or asymmetry of the face may occur. Due to the numerous varieties, origin and clinical features of cysts, classification has been controversial. The present study is aimed to help find better understanding for the diagnosis and treatment of jaw cysts. The material used in this study consists of the 198 cases of jaw cysts examined at the Department of Oral pathology, the Dental College of Yonsei University, for the period of November 1981 to November 1991. Classification recommended by the World Health Organization in 1990 was applied to reclassify the 198 cases by the embryologic consideration and histopathologic re-examination. All cases were analysed with clinical and radiological findings. The obtained results were as follows. 1. Of the total 198 cases, there were 64(32.3%) developmental odontogenic cysts, 13(6.6%) developmental nonodontogenic cysts, 107(54.1%) inflammatory cysts, and 14(7.1%) others. Radicular cysts numbering 96(48.6%) cases were the most common, followed by 36 dentigerous cysts(l8.2%), and 26 odontogenic keratocysts(l3.1%). 2. By age group, the 20 s accounted for the largest proportion of the cases(26.3%). Developmental odontogenic cysts were found evenly in all age groups and developmental nonodontogenic cysts were not found in age groups below the 20 s. Developmental odontogenic cysts were most common in the 10 s and unflammatory cysts in the 20 s. When all cases were totaled, the male to female ratio was 1.9 : 1. The ratio was 2.7 : 1 for developmental cysts and 1.7 : 1 for inflammatory cysts. In particular, dentigerous cases of developmental odontogenic cysts and paradental cases of inflammatory cysts were predominantly common in males. By location, cysts on the maxilla accounted for 67.7% and the mandible 32.3%. The anterior teeth of the maxilla were the most common location(52.4%). 3. The chief complaints were swelling(49.7%), pain(l9.8%), and pus discharge(l2.2%), indicating that most complaints were related to inflammation and facial asymmetry. The cases which were discovered accidentally accounted for only 15.7% of the total, which attests to the importance of early diagnosis. 4. Recurrence of jaw cysts were observed only in odontogenic keratocysts, with 4 recurrences(l5.4%) among 26 cases. Radiological analysis revealed the high recurrence rate was especially high in multilocular cysts and multiple cysts(46.3%). This indicates the high recurrence rate of odontogenic keratocysts and multiple characteristics. 5. Of the total 198 cases, 10 cases with neoplastic change were all ameloblstoma. Dentigerous cysts showed a high neoplastic change rate with 7 cases(l9.4%) of 36, followed by 2 cases among 26 odontogenic keratocysts(7.7%). and 1 case of 3 keratinization cases. Malignant change was not observed in this study.

In this paper, the unsteady incompressible Navier-Stokes equation coupled with energy/radiation equations was solved in order to investigate the thermal stimulation of a laser heater using an ANSYS-FLUENT. The laser heater has been used to substitute a traditional moxibustion. The temperature profiles inside skin were examined when the infrared laser was emitted onto the skin. It has been shown that the maximum temperature exists just below skin surface since the absorption coefficient of skin is biggest in epidermis and that the temperature inside skin decreases as the monitored position goes to the depth of skin. The present numerical results are qualitatively in agreement with those of experiment.

무선 LAN(Wireless Local Area Networks 의 DCF(Distributed Coordination Function) 방식은 랜덤 백 오프 방식으로 매체에 접근하기 때문에 지연이 발생하여 정해진 시간 내에 전 송을 보장할 수 없다는 단점 이 있다. [1] 이는 곧 실시간 멀티미디어 트래픽(비디오, 음성 등)의 QoS(Quality Of Service)를 보장할 수 없다는 것을 뜻한다. 또한 IEEE 802.11e 표준 [2]에서 제공하는 QoS 를 위한 EDCA(Enhanced Distributed Channel Access)라는 프로 토콜은 제시되어있으나 실제로 구현되어있는 디바이스의 부재로 QoS 를 지원하기가 어렵다. 따라서 무선 랜에서 IEEE 802.11e 를 지원하지 않는 망내 디바이스,즉 큐가 1 개인 STA, 즉 기본적인 802.11 표준 기술인 DCF 를 사용하는 STA 을 위해서 멀티미디어 트래픽의 실시간 전송을 보장하기 위한 기법을 제시한다.

In this study, hydrodynamic coefficients were obtained from a Rotating Arm (RA) test, which is one of the captive model tests used to provide accurate coefficients in the control motion equation of an underwater vehicle. The RA test was carried out at the RA facility of ADD (Agency for Defense Development), and the forces and moments acting on the underwater vehicle were measured using a six-axis waterproof gage. A multiple regression analysis was used in the analysis of the measured data. The experimental results were also verified by comparison with the theoretical values of the previous linear coefficients. In addition, the stability indices in the horizontal plane were calculated using the linear and nonlinear coefficients, and the dynamic stability of the underwater vehicle was estimated to have a good dynamic performance with a depth ratio of 6.0.
