A Diffusion-based Model Theory of Passive-Targeted Drug Delivery in Solid Tumors

A model theory of passive-targeted drug delivery in sphere-shaped solid tumors is introduced on the basis of Fick's law of diffusion, with appropriate boundary and initial conditions. For a uniform initial concentration inside the tumor, the concentration is obtained as a function of time and radial position. The concentration is shown to approach the equilibrium distribution as the time elapses, as is expected by the Gedanken Experiment. The time-evolution rate is found to be determined by the diffusion coefficient of the drug in the tissue, the size of the tumor, the volume of the drug-injected region, and the concentration gradient at the boundary. 공모양의 단단한 종양안에서 수동조준된 약물의 전달에 관한 모델이론이 적절한 경계조건과 초기조건하에서 픽의 확산법칙으로부터 유도된다. 종양안의 농도는 초기값이 일정하면 시간과 지름의 함수로 나타난다. 생각실험(사고실험)으로부터 예측되는 바와 같이, 농도는 시간이 경과함에 따라 평형값에 접근한다. 시간에 따른 농도의 변화는 조직안의 약물의 확산계수, 종양의 크기, 주입된 약물의 양, 경계면에서의 농도의 물매(gradient)에 의해 결정된다.

This study was carried out to investigate the effect on the growth and antioxidant activities ofCichorium intybus L.(CLE), Cichorium intybus L. var. folisum ‘treviso’ (CLET), Cichorium intybus L. var. folisum‘rosaitaliana’ (CLER) in hydroponics added with Cr3+ or Selenium (Se) for 4 weeks. Total polyphenol, total flavonoidscontents and FRAP values of three species of chicory were grown hydroponically with Cr3+ or Se were increased. These extracts were also showed stronger DPPH and ABTS scavenging activity than chicory extracts. In particular,chicories added with Cr3+ had higher antioxidant activities than chicories added with Se. CLER and CLE extractsadded with Cr3+ were also showed α-glucosidase inhibition activities. These results indicate that chicories were cultivatedin culture fluid added with Cr3+ or Se could be used as high functional vegetables.
개선된 로커보기(Rocker-Bogie) 구조를 채택한 로봇 구동부 설계

본 연구는 로커보기(rocker-bogie) 구조를 활용하여 높은 무게 중심에도 안정한 주행을 보장하는 구동부를 개발하는 것을 목표로 한다. 설계 변수를 설정하고 적절한 가중치를 할당하여 최적화 함수를 적용하며, 유전 알고리즘(genetic algorithms)을 활용해 링크 길이를 최적화한다. Signal / noise ratio 개념을 활용하여 계단 등반 시에 안정성을 갖도록 무게중심을 최적화하고, 상부 수평 유지 장치와 쇼크 업소버(shock absorber)를 도입함으로써 상부에 가해지는 충격을 완화시킨다. 무게 중심이 20% 높아졌음에도 계단 및 연석을 등반 가능하고 험지에서도 주행 안정성을 갖기 때문에, 이를 통한 자율 주행 배달 로봇 시장에 혁신적인 기여를 기대할 수 있다. This study uses the rocker bogie structure to develop a driving unit that ensures stable driving even with a high center of gravity. An optimization function is applied by assigning design variables and weights, and the link length is optimized through a genetic algorithm. The Signal-Noise ratio is used to optimize the center of gravity when climbing stairs, and the upper horizontal maintaining system and shock absorber are used to alleviate shock to improve driving stability. Even though the center of gravity has been raised by 20%, it has high driving stability when climbing stairs and driving stability at a rough road. So this driving system can contribute to the delivery robot market.
Biofunctional Properties of Enzymatic Squid Meat Hydrolysate

Squid is one of the most important commercial fishes in the world and is mainly utilized or consumed as sliced raw fish or as processed products. The biofunctional activities of enzymatic squid meat hydrolysate were determined to develop value-added products. Enzymatic squid hydrolysate manufactured by Alcalase effectively quenched 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl radical, hydroxyl radical, and hydrogen peroxide radical with IC50 values of 311, 3,410, and 111.5 mg/mL, respectively. Angiotensin I-converting enzyme inhibitory activity of squid hydrolysate was strong with an IC50 value of 145.1 mg/mL, while tyrosinase inhibitory activity with an IC50 value of 4.72 mg/mL was moderately low. Overall, squid meat hydrolysate can be used in food or cosmetic industries as a bioactive ingredient and possibly be used in the manufacture of seasoning, bread, noodle, or cosmetics.
Candida albicans Peritonitis After Urethrostomy in a Dog

7-year-old castrated male Maltese developed anemia, ascites with peritonitis, and vomiting after urethrostomy. A microbial culture test of the peritoneal fluid indicated Candida albicans. Antifungal therapy was administered with intravenous fluconazole combined with antibacterial therapy. The patient recovered completely 37 days after referral admission.
