Non-invasive sample collection for early diagnosis is significant in today"s aging society. Saliva, containing pathological and physiological biomarkers, may be collected patient-friendly, enabling easier access for patients with diabetes or hemophilia. Concentrations of markers in saliva correlate with them in blood, which makes it a promising candidate for biosensing. Salivary biosensors have widely been studied, but current tests have restrictions like showing low specificity and requiring professional labor. In this study, a platform is 3D-printed with biocompatible materials, integrated with non-toxic sponges for simple saliva loading and direct delivery through channels. In detection zone, hydrogel patterned and framed nanofibers are incorporated. Detection of biomarkers may be proceeded by enzymatic reactions resulting in distinguishable color changes. Furthermore, SERS techniques is applied for sensitive measurements and quantifications of salivary oncology markers.
종격동염을 동반한 하행성 괴사성 근막염 - LRINEC 점수체계를 통한 초기진단 및 증례보고

Cellulitis, abscess and necrotic fasciitis due to severe odontogenic infection threaten from patient’s quality of life and health to patient’s life. Poor oral hygiene and odontogenic infection can develop facial necrotizing fasciitis, mediastinitis, and various complications for the patient. The Laboratory Risk Indicator for Necrotizing Fasciitis (LRINEC) can detect necrotic fasciitis quickly and is widely used to prevent the symptoms of disease from deteriorating. To prevent complicated condition, early diagnosis is the most important key-point to dentist and LRINEC scoring system can be used as early-diagnosis tool for infectious disease in oral and maxillofacial area. We present a case of descending necrotizing fasciitis exacerbated to mediastinitis with severe systematic diseases. Also, we present the changes of patient’s data during treatment period and 2-year of follow-up. 치성감염에 의하여 발생한 봉와직염 및 안면부의 괴사성 근막염은 환자의 삶의 질 저하는 물론, 환자의 생명을 위협할 수 있는 구강악안면영역의 질환 중 하나이다. 청결하지 못한 구강위생과 구강 내 감염 병소는 이러한 안면부의 괴사성 근막염을 일으킬 수 있는 원인요소로 알려져 있다. 적절한 치료 시기를 놓치거나 기저 질환이 많은 환자에게서 발생한 괴사성 근막염은 하행성인 경우 종격동염 및 기타 장기의 합병증을 초래할 수 있다. 연조직에 발생한 괴사성 근막염에 대한 초기 진단에 사용할 수 있는 Laboratory Risk Indicator for necrotizing Fasciitis(LRINEC) 계산 방법은 발표된 이후, 타 부위의 괴사성 병소에 널리 쓰이고 있다. 따라서, 우리는 하악의 양측성 부종 및 감염 증상을 보이며, 다양한 의과적 질환을 가졌던 57세 남성 환자에게 LRINEC 계산 방법을 통한 초기 진단을 적용하였고, 장기간에 걸친 치료과정 및 경과보고를 하고자 한다.
A Brief Review of Plasma Enhanced Atomic Layer Deposition of Si3N4

Silicon nitride (SiNx) thin films have attracted interest as an important material for use in next-generation devices such as a gate spacer in 3D fin field-effect transistors (finFETs), charge trap layers, etc. Many studies using the SiNx plasma enhanced atomic layer deposition (PEALD) method have been conducted, owing to its advantages over other SiNx deposition methods. In this review, the recent studies on PEALD of SiNx thin films are summarized, and the effects of some process parameters including plasma power, frequency, and process temperature on the material properties of SiNx are discussed. In addition, some properties of SiNx thin films such as conformality, wet etch rate, and others are reviewed.

Asians tend to have prominent mandibular angle. The causes of wide lower third of the facial contour are obtuse mandibular angle and hypertrophy of masseter muscles. In cases of hypertrophy of masseter muscles, conventional treatment intends to the contraction of masseter muscle. Recently, volumetric reduction of masseter muscles using botulinum toxin type A injection and radiofrequency (RF) reduction have been introduced. The use of RF energy for masseter muscle reduction is known as a safe, simple, and effective method for aesthetic lower facial contouring. The purpose of this study is to present the effects of RF reduction applied to hypertrophy of masseter muscles, to review and to encourage RF practices in oral and maxillofacial region.
