        약제내성과 종양세포크기의 다양성

        Drug resistance of P 815 mouse tumor cells after various drug treatment were studied "by scoring the changes of cell sizes. Percent of cells with abnormal large cell size (larger than 15㎛. in diameter) increased by treatment of anticancer drugs. When the cells were treated with adriamycin, cells larger than 15㎛ in diameter were observed at second day post-treatment and the percent of larger cells reached maximum at 9th day post-treatment. Similar trends were observed following the treatment with cisplatin, 5-Fu, or methotrexate. Inverse relationship between survival of tumor cell population and percent distribution of large cells was observed when cisplatin was treated. Thus it was suggested that co-existence of abnormal large cells and cells in original size in the tumor cell population after drug treatment might be a key to determine that the cell line is resistant which thereby indication for next drug of choice.

        마을기술센터 핸즈(이하 ‘핸즈)는 2014년 적정기술을 교육하고 연구하며 컨설팅하는 회사로 창업해서 2020년 현재 운영중이다. 자영업자로서 2020년 초 코로나19가 확산하며 잠시 전망이 불투명한 적도 있었지만, 지금은 비대면 온라인교육과 납품 등으로 살아가는 법을 익히고 있다. 이 글은 적정기술 교육기업 핸즈를 7년 동안 운영하며 겪고 고민했던 지점들을 기록한 것이다.

        향기 나는 배 ‘진향’ 육성

        ‘Jinhyang’ is a fragrant pear bred in 2019. Field crossings to breed fragrant pears were conducted in 1984 at the Pear Research Center of the National Institute of Horticultural and Herbal Science. The maternal and paternal parents were ‘Okusankichi’ (IT254489) and ‘Hori’ (IT226291), respectively. The 84-16-5 line, which had a good fragrance, was first selected in 2007, and regional adaptation tests were conducted from 2011 to 2019 in five regions (Suwon, Chuncheon, Jinju, Yecheon, and Naju). The morphological characteristics of ‘Jinhyang’ include vigorous spreading tree form, brown-colored one-year-old shoot, elliptical leaf blade, round leaf tip, and white-colored flowers. The full bloom date was April 11, and the harvest date was in late September. The fruit of ‘Jinhyang’ weighs 439.9 g and has a soluble solid content of 13.0 °Brix, with a good sugar-acid balance and abundant juice. Analysis of the fragrance components of ‘Jinhyang’ revealed the presence of a large amount of fragrant volatile compounds compared to that of the standard cultivar ‘Niitaka’. In particular, ‘Jinhyang’ contains ethyl hexanoate and ethyl butanoate, which are known volatile compounds generated by pineapple and mango. Because of its strong uprightness, cultivation management, such as shoot bending, is necessary to maintain flower buds (Registration No. 9387).

        DNA 회복합성저해제 및 철이 Bleomycin과 과산화수소에 의해 유발된 CHO 세포의 염색체 이상빈도에 미치는 영향

        The cellular toxicity and antitumor effects of bleomycin are thought to be occurred by formation of O$_2$-Fe$^{2+}$-bleomycin complexes that degrade DNA and release O$_2^-$ and $^{\cdot}$OH radicals. Hydroxyl radicals derived from hydrogen peroxide seem most likely to be involved in the various stages of carcinogenesis, and transition metals such as iron play a central role in activation of bleomycin and in formation of hydroxyl radicals. This study was performed to investigate whether treatment with ferrous sulfate increase chromosome aberration induced by bleomycin and hydrogen peroxide, and whether there is different repair mechanism for DNA damage induced by those chemicals. Treatment with 3AB, Ara C, during G$_1$ and post-treatment with caffeine, and Hu during G$_2$ increased the frequency of chromosome aberration induced by bleomycin but post-treatment with caffeine only did function that way when hydrogen peroxide was treated. When 6.6X 10$^{-7}$ M of bleomycin or 5.0X10$^{-5}$M of hydrogen peroxide were treated simultaneously with iron, the frequency of chromosome aberration was reduced, if compared with the results by bleomycin or hydrogen per oxide alone.

        초고속 액세스 망의 모델화 및 경제성에 대한 검토

        본 논문은 초고속 광 가입자 망의 대안 기술에 대한 경제성 비교 검토로서, 교환기와 국간 전송로인 기반 통신 망의 고속 디지탈화 및 지능화는 완성 되었다고 보고, 액세스 계에 대하여 xDSL, FTTx, HFC, HFR의 접속 기술을 적용한 4가지 방식에 대하여 실제에 근접한 모델과 수식을 세우고, 각 모델에 대한 경제성 비교 분석을 수행하였다. 각각의 모델에 대한 수식은 서비스 제공 영역인 셀의 크기(즉, 가입자 밀도)를 변수로 하고, 각 요소 기능의 비용을 동선 비용으로 정규화한 값으로 대입하였다. 비용 구조에 대한 수치 계산 결과로부터 얻을 수 있는 결론으로 이용자의 밀도, 액세스 통신망의 구성 등에 따라 최적의 액세스 통신 기술이 달라져야 함을 알 수 있었다. 본 논문에서 제시한 해석 모델과 수식 등은 각각의 통신 환경에 대한 최적의 초고속 가입자 액세스 기술의 선정 시에 기여를 할 수 있으리라 기대된다. It is generallyaccepted that broadband access technologies will play an important role in the National Information Infrastructure. However, the provision of direct fibers to residential and small business customers has always been considered a challenge. To accelerage the provision of Broadband Access Facilities, alternatibe paths could be identified and actaivated in parallel. In this paepr, we present an overview of the alternative access technologies focusing on xDSL, FTTx, HFC, HFR, and suggest the modeling of the access netetwork systems which is using of the technologies. Also to investigate the economics of each access systems, we derve the numerical equations which is summed up the al parameter including the labor cost of the model system. The proposed equation has a variable which is the cell size (or subsciber clusters) and calculate the real cost values which is normalized by the copper cable unit cost. From the numerical resutls, we conclude that the economic access method to provide these broadband capabilities is depended on the subscriber penetration, the patterns of subscriber distribution density and existing communication infrastructures. It can be expected that our analytical model and equations provides an elegant solution to choose the optimal broadband access technologies to residential and small business customers.

        배관내 흐르는 아이스슬러리의 실시간 얼음분율 측정

        An experimental study was performed to measure a ice concentration of ice slurry flowing in a pipe in a real time. In the present paper, we suggested a measuring method by a refractive index and compared it to other methods by a freezing point and a density. To measure the refractive index of the solution, ice particles in the ice slurry should be completely removed and a hydro-cyclone was introduced instead of a mesh. The measuring method through the refractive index coincided with the density method using the real-time solution density within ±5% error range, having the error range less than the other two methods. In the other hand, the measuring method through the density has a good resolution, but the result using the initial density of the solution was different more than 10% error from that using the real-time density. And it has an error range 1.5 times greater than the method through the refractive index.
