Adult onset Still`s disease (AOSD) is a systemic inflammatory disorder of unknown etiology. AOSD is characterized by fever, arthralgia, salmon-colored skin rash, hepatosplenomegaly and its laboratory abnormalities include leukocytosis, elevated liver enzyme, negative autoantibody, and hyperferritinemia. The clinical course varied and severe complicated conditions, such as hemophagocytic syndrome, and disseminated intravascular coagulation, occurred occasionally. Such a complication is accompanied with hemolytic anemia and lead to be a fatal course. We report the first case of AOSD with hemolytic anemia, which improved with high dose steroid therapy.

Critical GIS is a research framework in geography that stands at the border of GIScience and human geography, and has been revolved around the epistemological ground, ontology, and methodology of GIS, and its social impacts. Since Friday Harbor Meeting in 1993 when human geographers and GIScientists began engaging in dialogue and growing climate of discussion, the past twenty years have shown a tremendous growth in efforts to understand GIS and the theory behind it, and an array of creative ways of conducting critical GIS such as GIS and Society, participatory GIS, qualitative GIS, and feminist GIS. These are all, what I consider, evolutions of critical GIS, innovative researches ‘with’ and ‘for’ critical GIS. This paper reviews primary debates and reactions vis-a-vis critical GIS by focusing on its social history and key discussions. I particularly demonstrate that the value and discussions of critical GIS still remain relevant, and seem as important as ever, with new questions and unprecedented digital and spatial technologies such as geographic web, spatial media, spatial humanity, and Big Data.

Children``s Urban Geographies is a relatively young field in the discipline of geography that has had a particular attention on children, and how their experiences and opportunities of urban space are spatially and socially constructed. This paper is intended to review the importance of the theory and practice of children``s urban geographies, and to highlight a child-centered philosophy and its embodied practice. The child-centered approach recognizes children as knowledgeable and responsible ``agents`` who can freely construct their own understandings of their everyday space in which they live, play, and learn. It transforms our conceptualization of children by illuminating the need to research ``with`` rather than ``on`` children. This paper is especially drawn from the reflections on my earlier encounters with this new scholarship in geography and 3 years working experience with participating children who lived in a multi-cultural Hispanic Lower-Westside neighborhood in Buffalo, New York. I first examine the evolution of children``s urban geographies, with a particular emphasis on three key themes: the geography of children, the social construction of children and childhood, and children``s agency. Then, I, cautiously but optimistically, prospect its far-reaching implications on planning and policy. Child-centered approach provides a new perspective to explore the evolving process of children``s situated and grounded experiential and interpretive spatial knowledge production.
초등학생의 과학, 공학, 기술에 대한 인식 및 과학자, 공학자, 기술자에 대한 이미지 조사

이 연구의 목적은 초등학생의 과학, 공학, 기술에 대한 인식과 과학자, 공학자, 기술자에 대한 이미지를 조사하는 데 있다. 본 연구에서는조사도구로 Fralick et al.(2009)의 연구에서 사용된 DAST(Draw ascientist test)를 Draw a scientist at work와 Draw a engineer at work를수정하고 변형하여 사용하였으며, 경남 G시의 S초등학교 6학년 209명을 대상으로 조사하였다. 연구 결과에 의하면, 초등학생들이 가지고있는 과학자의 이미지는 선행연구에서 나타난 전형적인 과학자의 이미지와 비슷하였다. 공학자의 대표적인 이미지는 짧은 머리에 안경을쓰고 있지 않으며 평상복을 입고 일을 하고 있는 형태이다. 그리고주로 선박, 로봇, 컴퓨터, 비행기를 설계하거나 만드는 모습을 나타내었다. 기술자의 대표적인 이미지는 짧은 머리에 보호 장갑을 끼고 용접용 마스크를 착용하였다. 기술자는 자동차, 로봇 등을 고치거나 렌치,드라이버, 용접기 등을 이용하여 일하는 모습을 나타내었다. 학생들은공학과 기술을 학문으로 인식하지 못하는 경향을 나타냈다. 또한, 공학, 기술의 연구 분야, 연구 방법에 대해서도 다양하게 인식하지 못하였다. The purpose of this study was to investigate elementary school students’ perceptions about science,engineering and technology and their images of scientists, engineers, and technicians. In order toinvestigate students`` images of scientists, engineers, technicians and student``s perception of science,engineering, and technology, we used the tools “Draw a scientist at work, Draw an engineer at work,and Draw a technician at work.” We have revised the tool DAST (Draw a scientist test), which wasused in Fralick et al.’s study (2009). Subjects were 209 6th grade students sampled from an elementaryschool in G-city in Korea. According to the results of this study, the students`` representative image ofa scientist was similar to stereotypical scientist image in previous studies, but the students perceivedscience as a field of research with various professionals. The students`` representative image of an engineerwas a man with short hair, no beard or mustache, wearing ordinary clothes but no glasses. The engineerwas designing or constructing a ship, a robot, a computer, and an airplane. The students`` representativeimage of a technician was a man with short hair, wearing protective goggles and a mask for welding. The technician was fixing a car, a robot, a rocket, etc. and working with wrenches, hammers, screwdrivers, welding machines, etc. Many students didn``t perceive engineering and technology as fields ofresearch. Also, many students didn``t variously perceive engineering and technology as fields and waysof study.
창의적 지리시각화: GIS, 지도화, 그리고 지리시각화의 인문학적, 예술적 가능성

Creative geo-visualization is the visual representation of creative forms of data and thinking with spatial information - visualization that preserves, represents, and generates a more nuanced, contextual, and deeply contingent meanings of place and people with humanistic and artistic approaches. Creative geovisualization expands the capacity of geovisualization and maps by building a new space that intersects digital spatial humanities, critical mapping, and the convergence of geography and arts. Various encompassing concepts and debates around non-representational theory, creative geographies, and deep maps and spatial narratives are discussed as a theoretical ground of this discussion. I also present diverse modes of creative engagements and practices as a newly generated form of geographic visualization, particularly through the use of emerging digital mapping technologies. Creative geovisualization allows us to go beyond the Cartesian understanding of space, and move towards imagining and producing qualitative, artistic, and humanistic visualizations that engage different forms of embodied, processual, relational, and even affective geographies. This reifies that the power of visualization and mapping are more than re-presentation of reality, but becomes creative as it evolves in process and takes a creative turn.
초등학교 저학년 학생들의 단계적 비유추론 학습과정을 통한 혼합물 학습 과정에서 제시된 생성적 비유의 특징 분석

Analogical reasoning is a central component of human cognition and contributes to scientific discovery and to develop science education. In this study, we investigated the process features of lower elementary school students’ analogical reasoning to explain mixture concept. The subjects are 24 lower elementary students. And the research design includes three phases instruction to investigate the features of students`` self generated analogy.Phase 1 is the introduction of analogy in which student learn to use analogy. Phase 2 is a POE class about mixture conception. Piaget and Inhelder studied the conception of mixing among children in relation to cognitive development. In phase 2, we taught the student with Piaget and Inhelder``s the experiment and observed the features of learning process about mixture conception. Phase 3 is students`` generation of analogy (self generated analogy) for the experienced phenomena in phase 2. We analyzed the students`` responses through the three phases in the view of Gentner``s Structure Mapping Theory. The results showed that many lower elementary school students even before formal operation stage understood the mixture conception and made well their self generated analogy to explain the mixture conception in spite of the difficulty of making self generated analogy.

The reaction of carbon dioxide with the amine-based absorbents which have various substituents in the molecule was described. In the case of MEA which is a representative primary amine, the absorption reaction was proceeded very fast while the regeneration reaction was took place slowly due to the strong bond strength between the absorbent and carbon dioxide. The more substituents on N atom of the absorbent, the slower the absorption reaction between carbon dioxide and the absorbent, which in turn causes faster the regeneration rate from the reaction intermediate, carbamate.
