Purpose: To analyze and characterize the radiologic findings of lobular carcinoma of the breast, a carcinoma which is very rare in Korea. Materials and Methods: Twelve patients with pathologically proven lobular carcinoma were included in this study. Mammography was performed in all patients and ultrasonography in six. Clinical manifestations, mammographic findings and ultrasonographic findings were retrospectively analysed. Results: Mean age of the patients was 45.9 years and the most common clinical manifestation was palpable breast mass (9/12). Radiologic findings of lobular carcinoma were spiculation (11/12), mass density (8/12), asymmetric vessel (6/12), and microcalcifications (6/12). Ultrasonography showed intermediate or lower echoic mass (4/6). Posterior enhancements and shadowings were noted in the same proportion. Breast MRI in two patients showed mass lesion with rapid strong enhancement at 1 minute after contrast injection on dynamic study. Tumor stages were stage II (6/12) followed by stage I (3/12), and the most advanced case was stage IIIb. Conclusion: On mammogram, the most common finding of lobular carcinoma of the breast was spiculation, and calcifications showed more frequently than in other reports. Ultrasound study showed an ellipsoid mass with transverse long axis. Internal echogenicity and posterior sonic enhancement or shadowing of the mass were not characteristic of the tumor.
Aerodynamic method of H-Darrieus wind turbines

In this study, we have constructed the method of design about H-Darrieus wind turbine, a kind of VAWT(vertical axis wind turbine). The NACA 0012 airfoil is chosen for the blade, and DMS(double multiple streamtube) theory is used for the analysis. The flow field is computed with numerical solution of rotating Navier-Stokes equations. From the result of experimental data of power coefficient curves, the validity of the present research is checked. Through the non-dimensional parameter analysis for the wind turbine design, we estimated the efficiency of wind turbine with the resultant Cp's, with which an efficient design of VAWT is achieved, and aerodynamic characteristics are presented systematically.
전산유체기법을 이용한 H-다리우스형 수직축 풍력터빈의 유동해석

In this study, we have constructed the method of design about H-Darrieus wind turbine, a kind of VAWT. The NACA 0012 airfoil is chosen for the blade, and modelled two-dimensionally. We computed the distribution of tip speed ratio versus power coefficient using DMST(double multiple stream-tube theory). Next, the flow field is computed numerically with FEM to the solution of rotating Navier-Stokes equations using a commercial code COMSOL™. From the comparison of experimental data on the lift/drag coefficient and the pressure coefficient distribution along chord positions with the result of numerical analysis, the reliability of the present research is checked, through which the k-ε turbulent model is tuned for the parameters such as turbulent length and intensity adequate to this purpose. Also through the change of the principal parameters concerning non-dimensional similarity, we developed the method to design VAWT more efficiently, and could identify the aerodynamic characteristics.

A kind of disk-shape boundary layer pump is designed numerically by using a software of computational fluid dynamics, which is widely used for the special purposes such as artificial hearts, bio-fluidics and transportation of oceanic Lives, etc. From the numerical simulation with an axisymmetric model, some benchmark problems are tested and compared with experimental results. The performance of disk pump is graphically visualized from the computational results, and converted to the dimensionless parameters. Finally, the obtained numerical data in the present investigation can be used for the baseline for new design to achieve a more efficient disk pump.

Purpose: To evaluate the effectiveness of digital rectal-compression immediately after transrectal prostate biopsy (P-bx) for improving the accuracy of prostate cancer (PCa) staging. Materials and Methods: Between July 2008 and June 2010, 94 consecutive patients who had a radical prostatectomy were included in our retrospective analysis. The exclusion criteria included a history of previous P-bx and surgery, a biopsy performed in another hospital, a number of biopsy cores different from 12, or a condition interfering with bleeding assessment. The subjects were divided into two groups, compression and non-compression. All enrolled patients took magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for PCa staging. Results:The compression and non-compression groups were comparable with respect to several baseline characteristics. However, the total hemorrhage score of intraprostatic bleeding was significantly different between the groups, even with adjustment for the time from biopsy to MRI (compression:15.4±2.32, non-compression:24.9±2.43, p<0.001). The intra-prostatic cancer location matching rate was higher in the compression group (78.0%) than in the non-compression group (70.2%) (p=0.011). Overall accuracy of staging in compression and non-compression groups was 84.7% and 77.3%, respectively. Conclusion: Our results demonstrate that digital rectal compression performed immediately after prostate biopsy to reduce intraprostatic hemorrhage improves the accuracy for detection of PCa using MRI.

Purpose: To evaluate the diagnostic performance of three-dimensional fast spin-echo (3D FSE-Cube) without fat suppression (NFS) for detecting knee lesions, using comparison to 3D FSE-Cube with fat suppression (FS). Materials and Methods: One hundred twenty-four patients who underwent 1.5T knee magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans and 25 subsequent arthroscopic surgeries were retrospectively reviewed. Using arthroscopic results and two-dimensional images as reference standards, diagnostic performances of 3D FSE-Cube-NFS and FS imaging about lesions of ligament, meniscus, subchondralbone marrow edema (BME), and cartilage were compared. Scan parameters of 3D FSE-Cube imaging were previously optimized by a porcine knee phantom. Results: No significant differences were observed between detection rates of NFS and FS imaging for detecting lesions of meniscusand cartilage (p>0.05). However, NFS imaging had lower sensitivity for detection of medial collateral ligament (MCL) tears, and lower sensitivity and specificity for detection of BME lesions, compared to FS imaging (p<0.05). Conclusion: 3D FSE-Cube-NFS imaging showed similar diagnostic performance for detecting lesions of meniscus or cartilage compared to FS imaging, unlike MCL or BME lesions.
