The purpose of this study was to examine the variation in professors' satisfaction with faculty development programs and in their teaching efficacy according to their demographic characteristics and the rate of participation in faculty development programs in a medical school. The data were collected from 59 faculty members who participated in the Professor's Seminar. The questionnaire consisted of three parts: general background of the respondent; satisfaction with the faculty development program; and teaching efficacy. The data were analyzed by methods of descriptive analysis, analysis of variance, and the Mann-Whitney U-test. The program satisfaction of faculty members was significantly different by the years of educational career but it was not different by job status, specialty, gender, and the participation level in faculty programs. The faculty members' teaching efficacy differed significantly by gender and the participation level in faculty programs, while it did not differ by educational career, job status, or specialty. The results of this study suggest that various faculty programs should be developed to increase the satisfaction level of different groups of faculty members, and that they should be more focused on teaching efficacy, as it is considered to be one of the most effective way to increase the quality of education.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the status and function of non-educational smartphone use in the class, the reasons related to the class, and the regulation of non-educational smartphone use in class. The data were collected through a survey of 143 college students. The students’ opinions on open questions were categorized by repetitive reading, and quantitative data were analyzed by descriptive statistics. Above all, over 50% of the students used KakaoTalk and SNS the most during the class, and they thought that the use of smartphones did not interfere with the class. There were opinions that smartphones were used because classes dealt with uninteresting or difficult content to concentrate on, and there were many objections to the regulations on smartphone use. Therefore, the instructor should make the instruction more interesting, design the instruction according to the level of the students, and consider how to involve the students in the class by utilizing the various application functions of the smartphone.

두드러기는 가려움으로 인해 발생되는 피부상의 상해질환으로써 나이에 관계없이 높은 발병률을 가지고 있다. 한방에서는 만성두드러기의 원인 중 하나로 비위(脾胃)의 습열(濕熱)을 말한다. 소갈탕(升葛湯)은 보비익기(補脾益氣)의 효능을 가지고 있어 비위(脾胃)의 습열(濕熱)을 없애는데 사용되어 왔다. 최근 연구에 의하면 소갈탕(升葛湯)은 재발성 홍반성 두드러기를 효과적으로 억제하는 효능이 있다고 밝혀졌으나 소갈탕(升葛湯)의 항염증효과에 대한 메커니즘은 명백하지 않은바 이에 우리는 BV2세포에 있어서 NO농도, iNOS의 발현정도, $PGE_2$의 생산, 세포생존도, COx-2, $IL-1{\beta}$, IL-12, $TNF-{\alpha}$의 발현을 조사하였다. 그 결과 소갈탕(升葛湯)은 NO, $PGE_2$의 생산을 현저하게 억제하며 iNOS, COX-2, $IL-1{\beta}$, IL-12, $TNF-{\alpha}$ 역시 감소하였고 세포생존도에는 영향을 주지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 이상(以上)을 살펴볼 때 소갈탕(升葛湯은 항염증 효과를 가지고 있음을 알 수 있다.
