        A Novel Germline Mutation in Exon 15 of the APC Gene in Attenuated Familial Adenomatous Polyposis: A Report of Two Cases

        Attenuated familial adenomatous polyposis (AFAP) is a variant of familial adenomatous polyposis with fewer than one hundred colorectal polyps and a later age of onset of the cancer. Here, we report two cases of AFAP within family members. Each patient demonstrated the same novel germ line mutation in exon 15 of the adenomatous polyposis coli (APC) gene and was successfully managed with sulindac after refusal to perform colectomy: a 23-year-old man with incidentally diagnosed gastric adenoma and fundic gland polyps underwent colonoscopy, and fewer than 100 colorectal polyps were found; a 48-year-old woman who happened to be the mother of the 23-year-old man also showed fewer than 100 colorectal polyps on colonoscopy. Genetic analysis revealed a novel frameshift mutation in exon 15 of the APC gene. The deletion of adenine-guanine with the insertion of thymine in c.3833-3834 resulted in the formation of stop codon 1,287 in both patients. The patients were treated with sulindac due to their refusal to undergo colectomy. The annual follow-up upper endoscopy and colonoscopy in the following 2 years revealed significant regression of the colorectal polyps in both patients.

        소규모 필댐의 침투수 관리를 위한 감압정 효과에 대한 수치해석

        감압정은 소규모 필댐과 같은 소규모 댐에서 침투수 관리에 효과가 있다고 보고되고 있지만 감압정의 효과에 대한 정량적인 연구는 드물고 설계기준 또한 전무한 실정이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 소규모 필댐의 침투수 처리 효과를 정량적으로 분석하고자 댐 제체와 기초지반의 조건에 따른 침투해석을 수행하여 침투수의 거동특성을 파악함으로써, 댐 제체 선단에 작용하는 양압력을 분석하였다. 감압정의 설치 여부에 따라 댐 하류부 제체 선단의 기초지반에 작용하는 양압력의 감소 효과를 분석하였으며, 분석결과 감압정은 기초지반에서 파이핑 및 제체 활동을 유발시킬 수 있는 간극수압을 저감시키는데 효과가 있는 것을 확인하였다. The relief wells have been studied to be effective in seepage control in small dams such as agricultural dams. However, quantitative studies on the effects of the relief well are rare and there is no design standard also. To quantitatively analyze the effects of the seepage control in small dams, the research of up-lift pressure influencing the toe of dam body was conducted by seepage analysis, which investigates the behavior characteristics, according to the conditions of dam and foundation. The effect of seepage control was studied by analyzing the reduction effect of up-lift pressure at foundation ground of the toe of downstream dam slope depending on the installation of the relief well. As a result, it was found that the relief wells are effective in reducing the pore water pressure in the foundation, which can cause piping and sliding failure.

        A Study on the Restoration of the Planting at Terraced Flower Beds in Seokpajeong

        This study was conducted to investigate flower terrace beds located in Seokpajeong in Seoul, which was constructed by Kim Heung-geun, and to provide major data on future planting restoration plans. The results of the study are as follows. Seokpajeong in Seoul is a type of house that can be seen in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do, and it is a Byeolseo garden built by the top class in the late Joseon Dynasty. Flower terraced beds is located behind the Sarangchae. As flower terraced beds came to the present day, foreign species that were not related to traditional landscape planting were planted, and the soil core according to the tree species in the stairs was not suitable, so a plan to restore flower terraced beds was proposed. First, as a result of investigating and analyzing the planting status of the seokpajeong flower terraced beds in Seoul, a total of 27 species (6 trees, 6 shrubs, and 15 herbaceous) were planted. There are many trees in the order of Prunuspersica (L.) Batsch for. Persica and BerberiskoreanaPalib. and shrubs in the order of Rhododendron mucronulatumTurcz., Euonymus alatus, and Syringa vulgaris L., and finally, in the case of Herbaceous, they identified a lot in the order of Saxifragapaniculataflower, Phlox subulata, Taraxacumplatycarpum. Second, as a result of investigating and analyzing the planting structure of the seokpajeong flower terraced beds in Seoul, it was found that the parallel planting was superior to the mass planting and the single planting, and the shrubs and Herbaceous were parallel planting superior to mass planting and single planting Third, through the field trip of the flower terraces, the problems of each stage were analyzed in consideration of historical and ecological aspects, and based on this, the trees suitable for the Seokpajeong flower terraced beds in Seoul were summarized. Fourth, in the vegetation restoration plan of the Seokpajeong flower terrace beds in Seoul, the first stair was covered with Hosta plantaginea (Lam.) Asch., Hosta longipes (FR. et SAV). MATSUMURA., Hemerocallis fulva L., and Chrysanthemum morifolium RAMAT. focusing on herbaceous The second stair planted BerberiskoreanaPalib., Paeonia lactiflora, Paeonia suffruticosa ANDR., and Rhododendron mucronulatum Turcz.. The third stair tried to increase practicality by planting BerberiskoreanaPalib, Prunus tomentosa, and Rhododendron schlippenbachi.

        Support is the component used to fix the dielectric resonator (DR) onto the filter assembly for the base and/or relay stations in mobile telecommunication systems. The dielectric constant, quality factor and temperature coefficient of resonance frequency are of prime coneorn when choosing a material for such application. Alumina is one of candidate materials and becomes more popular over insulating polymers. In this paper, the effect of impurity addition on the microwave dielectric properties, especially quality factor values into two grades of commercially available raw materials is discussed. the results are then compared to those obtained from commercial support produced from commercially available formulated powder of proprietary composition.

      • 求禮地域의 山洞盆地에 관한 地形硏究

        1) 求禮地域의 西施川 상류에 위치한 산동분지는 심층풍화를 받은 화강편마암의 차별적 침식에 의해서 이루어진 폐쇄형 산간분지이다. 2) 산동분지의 발생과 확대는 섬진강의 지류인 西施川을 침식기준면으로 한 풍화물 削剝과 산지의 사면후퇴에 의해서 이루어졌다. 따라서 산동분지의 산록에 발달한 완사면은 분지의 발생 확대과정에서 발달한 침식사면이다. 즉 산동분지의 산록완사면은 사력퇴적물로 덮혀있으나 근본적으로 기반침식면의 형상을 닮은 침식사면이다. 3) 산록완사면은 오랜 기간에 걸쳐 풍화와 침식을 되풀이함으로써 上,中,下의 3개 지형면이 발달하였다. 上位面은 山地의 斜面後退에 의해서 발달한 始原的 緩斜面에 해당되고, 中位面과 下位面은 上位의 완사면이 再浸蝕을 받아 낮아진 지형면이다. 4) 산록완사면에는 운반영력이 다양한 퇴적물이 덮혀있다. 상위 완사면에는 대체로 산지의 사면 후퇴와 관련된 퇴적물이 덮혀 있고, 중위완사면 지역에는 대체로 洪水性의 布狀的 流水 퇴적물이, 그리고 하천연안에는 河川的 流水에 의해서 운반된 퇴적물이 덮혀있다. 西施川 유역의 下位 완산면 일부지역에는 洪水性 流水와 관련된 岩塊 내지 巨礫堆積物이 덮혀있다. 5) 山洞盆地에 분포하고 있는 島狀의 암석구릉은 풍화물 削剝에 의해 분지의 지형면이 낮아지는 과정에서 風化基底面이 地表에 노출되어 형성된 지형인데 반해서 완사면 上端部의 구릉들은 분지의 확대과정에서 이루어진 지형이라고 생각된다.

        스마트폰 영상을 이용한 슬관절 각도 및 활보장에 대한 보행분석

        Various types of disease in the nervous and musculoskeletal system can change gait, and the gait analysis is very important in determining the progression of the disease. Most methods of analyzing gait are subject to high-priced equipment and spatial restrictions. This study used smart phone images and the walking track analysis program to make a comparative analysis with the existing gait analysis on the basis of the stride length measurements and the changes in the knee joint angle for walking. The test necessary to analyze gait was conducted in seven healthy men, and data about the angle of right and left knee joints and stride length were used to analyze gait. The gait analysis in this study obtained the similar results to the existing ones. The use of the methods suggested in this study will enable gait analysis to be made without high-priced equipment and spatial restrictions. 다양한 신경계 및 근골격계 질환이 있을 때 나타나는 증상으로 보행변화가 일어나며, 이에 대한 보행분석은 병의 진행 정도를 판단하는 데 매우 중요하다. 대부분의 보행분석 방법으로는 고가의 장비 사용과 공간의 제약을 받고 있다. 본 연구는 스마트 폰을 이용한 촬영 영상과 보행궤적 분석 프로그램을 사용하여, 보행 시 슬관절 각도의 변화와 활보장 측정을 바탕으로 보행분석을 진행하였다. 보행분석에 필요한 실험은 건강한 성인남성 7명을 대상으로 진행하였으며, 오른쪽 및 왼쪽 무릎관절 각도 및 활보장에 대한 데이터를 이용하여 보행분석이 이루어졌다. 본 연구에서 얻어진 보행분석은 기존의 보행분석 연구들과 비교하여 유사한 결과를 획득하였다. 여기서 제안한 방법을 이용한다면 고가의 장비와 공간의 제약없이 보행 분석을 할 수 있을 것이다.

        한국인 알코올사용장애의 의료기관과 지역사회기관 간 전향적 임상경과 비교

        Objectives: Although alcohol use disorder (AUD) is a burdening public health problem, medical and community-based services are under-utilized in South Korea. To understand factors affecting the course of AUD, a nation-wide longitudinal follow-up study was conducted. Methods: A 3-year biannual follow-up evaluation of patients with AUD from six areas in South Korea was conducted in 2016–2019. Baseline demographic and clinical data, alcohol-related problems, affective symptoms, insight level, and motivation measures were compared between patients who failed and succeeded in cessation from heavy drinking (CHD) and between patients from medical (hospital) and community-based services. Results: The 6-month CHD rate was 18.3%–48.5%. After six months, follow-up loss and CHD were drastically decreased over time. AUD, alcohol craving, depression, and anxiety scale scores were higher in patients who failed CHD. Hospital patients showed higher AUD severity scores, whereas community patients showed higher depression scores. Failed CHD patients had greater AUD severity in medical setting and greater depression and anxiety severity in community setting. Conclusion: This study performed the first nation-wide prospective survey on the course of patients with AUD in South Korea. Difference in CHD rate and associated factors between medical and community settings in AUD treatment suggest a need for implementing treatment setting-specific programs.

        Regulatory T Cells in B Cell Follicles

        Understanding germinal center reactions is crucial not only for the design of effective vaccines against infectious agents and malignant cells but also for the development of therapeutic intervention for the treatment of antibody-mediated immune disorders. Recent advances in this field have revealed specialized subsets of T cells necessary for the control of B cell responses in the follicle. These cells include follicular regulatory T cells and Qa-1-restricted cluster of differentiation (CD)8+ regulatory T cells. In this review, we discuss the current knowledge related to the role of regulatory T cells in the B cell follicle.
