Purpose: The aim of this study was to develop a simulation-based High Flow Nasal Cannula Oxygen Therapy training program based on NLN/ISF to identify the effect on knowledge, clinical performance, and educational satisfaction compared to a group who had traditional High Flow Nasal Cannula Oxygen Therapy training after applying it to clinical nurses. Methods: 31 experimental groups and 33 control groups were conducted from August 2019 to September 2019 for inexperienced nurses over 4 months to 5 years with no experience using high-flow oxygen therapy. Educational programs were developed in scenarios according to Airvo2 and Optiflow, such as facilitator, participant, educational condition, design, characteristics, and educational outcomes. The education application was conducted in advanced for knowledge and clinical performance ability after watching therapy video. Since then, a total of 90 minutes have been conducted for respiratory failure theory training, airvo2 and optiflow simulation training, and debriefing. After applying the education, the medical institution measured nurses’ knowledge, clinical performance, and education satisfaction. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, with the SPSS/WIN 22.0 program. Results: Both knowledge and educational satisfaction were higher in the experimental group than in the control group (t=-14.09, p<.001), (t=-12.99, p<.001). The clinical performance for both use of Optiflow and Airvo2 were higher in the experimental group than in the control group (t=-11.39, p<.001), (t=-11.38, p<.001) . Conclusion: Results showed that the simulation-based High Flow Nasal Cannula Oxygen Therapy training was effective with the experimental group having increased scores for every area of this study.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to describe the pregnancy and childbirth experience of unmarried teenage mothers and to provide basic information of programmes to prevent unplanned pregnancies in unmarried teenage mothers. Methods: The participants of study were 7 unmarried teenage mothers who lived in shelters in D city, and whose ages ranged from 15 to 19 years. Data gathering through in-depth interviews, 3 to 5 times, was done from August 2002 to September 2003. Data were analyzed with Colaizzi’s(1978) phenomenological methodology. Results: The implications of pregnancy and childbirth experience for unmarried teenage mothers were “Seem to live in hell”, “Desire for a miscarriage”, “Lethargy”, “Feel maternity”, “Feel unjustified”, and “Change of sexual perception”. Conclusion: These findings contribute to understanding the pregnancy and childbirth experience of unmarried teenage mothers and can be used as sexual education information to help unmarried teenage mothers to prevent further unplanned pregnancies.

Ecofeminism is a movement that brings together elements of environmentalism and feminism, while challenging both simultaneously. Ecofeminism in the United States emerges from the antimilitarist and antinuclear movements in the 1970s and 1980s. Ecofeminism challenges anti-life culture and social institutions based on male dominant patriarchy. There are many ecofeminist perspectives how to conceptualize the relationship between women and nature. Some ecofeminists believe that women are biologically closer to nature than men. And other ecofeminists search for a feminist spirituality found in nature-based religions. Both aspects cherish women’s own experiences and spirituality, which celebrate women’s connection to the rest of life on Earth. This paper examines the direction ecofeminism needs to take, which plays a crucial role to connect human beings and nature and to heal them as well. In that sense exploring a Native American writer’s texts is a test case to understand healing processes through ecofeminism because Native Americans have their painful history and wounds in their culture. This study focuses especially on Linda Hogan’s Solar Storms in which various Native American women characters have their own wounds. Individual and cultural wounds will be examined. And it explores how wounds can be healed through recovering the relationships among humans as well as the ones between humans and nature. Also, this study analyzes how the Native American heroine develops ecological consciousness and tries to protect and preserve nature from the patriarchal exploitation of nature. Advances in mass spectrometry have enabled the investigation of various biological systems by directly analyzing diverse sets of biomolecules (i.e., proteins, lipids, and carbohydrates), thus making a significant impact on the life sciences field. Over the past decade, matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) has been widely utilized as a rapid and reliable method for the identification of microorganisms. MALDI-TOF MS has come into widespread use despite its relatively low resolving power (full width at half maximum, FWHM: < 5,000) and its incompatibility with tandem MS analysis, features with which other high-resolution mass spectrometers are equipped. Microbial identification is achieved by searching databases containing mass spectra of peptides and proteins extracted from microorganisms of interest, using scoring algorithms to match analyzed spectra with reference spectra. In this paper, we give a brief overview of the diverse applications of rapid and robust MALDI-TOF MS-based techniques for microbial identification in a variety of fields, such as clinical diagnosis and environmental and food monitoring. We also describe the fundamental principles of MALDI-TOF MS. The general specifications of the two major MS-based microbial identification systems available in the global market (BioTyper® and VITEK® MS Plus) and the distribution of these instruments in Republic of Korea are also discussed. The current review provides an understanding of this emerging microbial identification and classification technology and will help bacteriologists and cell biologists take advantage of this powerful technique.

Inspired by many writers, Joyce Carol Oates has rewritten her stories. William Faulkner in particular seems to affect Oates's writing considerably. I think one of Oates's short stories, “The Buck”, is closely related to Faulkner's famous short story, “A Rose for Emily.” At the base of the story rewritten by Oates, some archetypal Faulknerian elements grow into a very different story as Oates's story continues to develop and evolve. In addition, as the layers of Oates's story get thicker, her rewritten story creates various perspectives and delves into human nature. In this paper, I will explore the narrative relationship between Oates's short story “The Buck” and Faulkner's “A Rose for Emily.” I examine how the intertextual relationship between the two works appears as well as the intertextuality with fairy tales. I will also trace the Grotesque elements common to the two works, “The Buck” and “A Rose for Emily.” Oates keeps on evolving her work based on the Grotesque. Since there is no research paper on the relationship between the two works, “The Buck” and “A Rose for Emily,” it is expected that this study will broaden the horizons in the research into Oates's works.
