A ZnO seed layer is prepared from ZnO sol under various heating conditions, whose effect on the growth of ZnO nanorod arrays for the photoanode in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) is systematically investigated. Differential thermal analysis and x-ray diffraction investigation show that a pre-calcination temperature of at least 250°C is needed for the crystallization of the ZnO seed layer. Extreme preferential orientation along the (002) plane is also observed at 250°C. The post-annealing temperature governs the diameter and length of the vertically grown ZnO nanorod arrays. The diameter and length of the ZnO nanorod arrays increase till the post-annealing temperature reaches 500°C. At 600°C, the ZnO nanorod becomes shorter than that at 500°C. The longer and well-aligned ZnO nanorod arrays yield better photovoltaic performance. The optimum heating conditions to obtain the best conversion efficiency of DSSCs are found to be pre-calcination at 250°C and post-annealing at 500°C.
Magnetism of a System Interacting with a Common Environment

We consider a system and environment governed by the Markovian process. The density matrix (the reduced density matrix) of the system satisfies the Kossakowski-Lindblad equation. We calculate the expectation value of the z-direction-magnetization in the system for various types of initial states and interactions between the system and environment. In all the cases, the values of the magnetization approached asymptotically to the same value in spite of the different initial states. However, according to the different interaction types between the system and the environment, the asymptotic values are different according to the initial states.

We investigated the distribution of chigger mites in Seogwipo, Jeju Island to conduct surveillance for the presence of Orientia tsutsugamushi. Using a total of 20 samplers, chigger mite larvas were sampled weekly from September to November in Rice field, Field, Waterway, and Glass field (4 locations), and we found up to 51 larvas of 3 different species of chigger mites. 64 field mice were captured when sampling for chigger mite-infested rodents in rice fields, waterways, fields, reservoirs and hills (5 locations) for 9 months from March, 2018 to November, using 100 Sherman traps with placing 20 traps in each location, and in each location the trap index was 0.08. Only back-striped field mice (Apodemus agrarius) were captured one at a time. They were most frequently captured in April with 15 mice, and then 436 chigger mites were collected from the total of 64 captured wild rodent, showing a chigger index of 6.8. The chigger index was the highest in November at 46.0, followed by 6.8 in July and 4.6 in June. PCR was performed to investigate if there were any O. tsutsugamushi hosts among the 487 chigger mites sampled from the captured rodents and this turned out to be negative. Orientia tsutsugamushi 감시를 위한 털진드기 분포를 제주도 서귀포시 일원에서 조사 하였다. 총 20개의 채집기를 이용하여 논, 밭, 수로, 초지(4개 지점)에서 털진드기 유충을 9∼11월까지 매주 1회씩 채집한 결과 개체수는 3종 51마리가 채집되었다. 설치류에 기생하는 털진드기 분포 감시를 2018년 3월부터11월까지 한달에 한번씩 9개월 동안 논, 수로, 밭, 저수지, 야산(5개 지점)에서 Sherman traps 각 20개씩 100개를 설치해서채집한 결과 64마리의 들쥐를 포획해서 trap index 0.08 이였다. 포획된 들쥐는 한 종류인 등줄쥐(Apodemus agrarius)로만확인되었다. 시기별로는 4월에 15마리로 가장 많았고, 포획된64마리의 야생 설치류에서 털진드기가 436마리 채집되어chigger index는 6.8이었으며 시기별 chigger index는 11월46.0로 가장 높았고, 7월에 6.8, 6월에 4.6 순으로 나타났다. 채집기와 포획된 설치류에서 채집한 털진드기 총 487마리에 대한쯔쯔가무시 보유여부를 확인하기 위해서 PCR을 실시한 결과모두 음성으로 나타났다.
