Overlap syndrome is used to describe patients who have two or more well-defined connective tissue diseases. Although a variety of overlap syndromes are now recognized, the coexistence of the progression of juvenile rheumatoid arthritis (JRA) to systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is uncommon. We describe a patient who had typical deforming polyarthritis, who years later developed SLE.

Wilms` tumor is the most common malignant abdominal tumor in the adolescent and pediatric period, whereas adult Wilms` tumor is uncommon. Wilms` tumor often originates in the kidney. Extrarenal Wilms` tumor is rare and has been considered 뱔nstageable? Therefore, treatment and long-term survival have not been uniformly reported. We report a 24 year-old female who developed extrarenal Wilms` tumor, in the retroperitoneal space. She was misdiagnosed for ovarian neoplasm and underwent debulking operation, by which Wilms` tumor was confirmed. 신경섬유종증 환자에서 갈색세포종이 동반된 경우는 약 0.1~5.7%에 이르나, 자발성 뇌출혈은 매우 드문 합병증이다. 저자들은 신경섬유종증 1형의 임상적인 특징을 보이는 30세 여자가 고혈압과 자발성 뇌출혈로 내원하였고 항고혈압제로 혈압이 조절되지 않아 뒤늦게 갈색세포종이 진단되어 수술적으로 치료한 1예를 경험하였기에 문헌고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다. Spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage is very rare in patients with neurofibromatosis type 1. A 30-year-old woman was referred to our hospital for evaluation of headaches, nausea, and vomiting. She was diagnosed with neurofibromatosis type 1 and a spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage. She was treated with conservative management, including antihypertensive medications for 32 months. However, because of sustained hypertension, we performed screening tests for a pheochromocytoma. The 24 hr urine VMA and urine metanephrines were elevated. Abdominal CT showed a right adrenal mass, 7.5×5.8 cm in size. After a successful resection of the tumor, the hypertension resolved without medication for >1year. This case illustrates that delayed diagnosis and treatment of pheochromocytoma can cause serious complications from hypertension, such as cerebrovascular hemorrhage. Thus, in patients with neurofibromatosis and hypertension, screening for pheochromocytoma is important for the early detection of an adrenal tumor. (Korean J Med 75:103-107, 2008)

Medullary cystic disease (MCD) and familial juvenile nephronophthisis are inherited diseases characterized by development of small cysts at the corticomedullary borders of the kidneys. Both diseases consist of microscopic or gross cysts of the renal medullae associated with atrophy of nephrons, anemia, renal insufficiency, polyuria, and salt-wasting. We report a 27-year-old pregnant female patient with MCD which caused acute renal failure progressing to end stage renal disease during the second trimester. Hypertension, oliguria, preeclampsia, placenta abruptio, and disseminated intravascular coagulation were also accompanied. Radiologically, abdominal ultrasonography and computed tomogram showed many cysts confined only to the renal medullae, which are typical findings consistent with MCD. In spite of conservative therapy, her renal function deteriorated rapidly and uremic symptoms including pulmonary edema were aggravated. She was started on hemodialysis and she has received regular hemodialysis without recovery of renal function.

The purpose of this study was to investigate and haing to lights beiefs and opinons about leisure activity of middle shool students in urban and rural communities of Chunnam. Those views specifically rgaus scio-graphic specificity, the pattern of First, most students recognized that leisure activities are for relaxation and stress reduction. It is shown that students in urban areas enjoy more playing computer games while students in rural areas enjoy more watching TV and listening to radio. Second, on weekdays they talk with friends at home and in computer game-rooms, and it is shown that most of them get satisfaction from their leisure activites. They spend their leisure hours during holidays with family members or friends on the street or downtown. Generally, these students are satisfied with their leisure activities. Third, the lack of leisure facilities is very severe in schools (85%) and students felt more equipped leisure facilities are needed. The leisure facilities in our community are less than in other communities. The results also showeas that various leisure facilities and the condition of leisure environments must be improved for middle school students (who are in physical developing pericas to participate in dynamic leisure with more activities. Fourth. The leisure activities students presently participate in are stanic activities for girls, like watching TV, listening to music and radio, and active and dynamic activities for boys such as playing soccer and. Soccer is the most popular activity for boy students and students in rural areas. Te favorite leisure activities in the future are traveling, swimming, hobby activities, shopping, watching plays, and watching movies in that order. Traveling is the most popular future activity and their biggest hope and dream.
Chemical-Looping Combustion을 위한 금속산화물 매체들의 산화 환원 반응특성

Chemical-looping combustion has been focused as a very promising combustion technology from the viewpoint of high energy efficiency, easy separation of CO_(2) and no formation of NO_(x). The key of this combustion technology is to develop oxygen carrier mediums with high oxygen capacity, and high machanical and thermal stability. In this study, various kinds of mediums were prepared by the combination of active metal oxides, such as NiO, CoO, Fe_(2)O_(3) or NiO-Fe_(2)O_(3), with YSZ(yttria stabilized zirconia) as a binder. The redox reactions on the mediums were also carried out by using the thermogravimetric reactor. The redox reaction rates on a NiO/YSZ medium were found to be most superior in comparison with those of other mediums. In addition, durability of the medium was also found to be appropriate for UC. For the purpose of high redox reaction rates, the optimum reaction temperatures of reduction and oxidation on a NiO/YSZ medium were observed as 600℃ and l000℃, respectively.
