Magnesium powder has been widely used in various industries because it is light weight and extremely high mechanical strength including aeronautics and chemicals. However, magnesium, as a combustible metal, poses serious safety issues such as fires and explosions if it is not managed properly. Especially, magnesium's max adiabatic flame temperature is 3,340℃ and it is impossible to extinguish it by using water, CO2 and Halonagents. The aim of this study is to identify the combustion characteristics of magnesium powder. We carried out a combustion experiment, using 1 kg of magnesium (purity > 99 %, particle < 150 ㎛). The features of the magnesium burning process were scrutinized using infrared thermal image analysis. Also, a field-emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM) were used employed to analyze particulate composites and properties. It concludes the significant tendency of magnesium fire and light, combustion carbide's particle characteristics. This study contributes to make better prevention and response manners to magnesium fires, as well as fire investigation measures.

To increase pot life in the formulation mixed with bisphenol F epoxy resin, anhydride-based curing agent, and imidazole-based curing accelerator powders as a paste material for high-speed RFID chip bonding, size variation of the imidazole-based powders and a coating method of the powders were adopted in this study. In experiment with regard to the size variation, the pot life was not outstandingly increased. Through the idea using the coating method, however, the pot life was increased up to 4.25 times in comparison with the addition of initial imidazole-based powders. Consequently, successive bonding of RFID chip could be performed with very short time of 5sec using the suggested formulation having improved pot life.

This paper presents a numerical analysis on the solidification characteristics in twin-roll strip casting. Unstructured fixed-grid system was employed to deal with phase change. Melting of pure gallium was analyzed to confirm the validity of present program in both structured and unstructured grid systems. An algorithm for simultaneous calculation of the temperature in the roll and the molten metal pool was developed. The flow field in the pool and heat transfer features between pool and roll were shown. The effect of process parameters was also studied. Since the geometry of the molten metal Pool significantly deforms along the casting direction, unstructured grid system is more efficient. The unstructured grid system gives almost the same accuracy, even though the number of grids is only 60% of the structure done.

One important feature of Korean modern intellectual history are the indispensable connections between academic research and social practice. This paper argues that we should extend the range of intellectual history. To this end, it pays attention to Jeong Taejin, an outstanding activist of the Hangul movement who did not receive special attention as a Hangeul scholar. Jeong Taejin nurtured a national consciousness in his teachers and fellow students at the Yonhee College (Chosen Christian College). The weaving together of study and practice was a unique tradition of the Yonhee College since its early days, and Jeong Taejin could live his life as an activist thanks to this tradition. Due to the liability of the Chosen Language Society case, he dedicated himself to the Hangul movement until his death to stave off feelings of guilt. Although the U.S. Military Government in Korea and the South Korean government offered him a bureaucratic position or professorship after the liberation, he refused all proposals and applied himself to the compilation of a Hangul dictionary for the Chosen Language Society (Korean Language Society). All the while, he published articles about the Hangul movement and taught Hangul and linguistics in educational institutions. In particular, the monograph in which he argued for the exclusive use of Hangul and the gradual abolition of Chinese characters is noteworthy. His attention to the collection of Korean dialects in terms of historical comparative linguistics was also unusual for the time and should be highly evaluated.

Today, the Korean society is experiencing serious threats to democracy. In this article, in order to gain a new understanding of the Koreans' efforts that began in the past and is still going on today toward democratization, the legacy of the National Liberation movements that continued during the Japanese occupation period will be examined. The National Liberation movement during the Japanese occupation period had a plan and prospect for the government that would be built after the liberation. In terms of creating a political format, both the Socialists and the Nationalists were aiming for a democratic republic, where all the citizens'(or the people's) freedom and rights would be protected and secured. And in terms of establishing an economy, they pursued neither a totally Communist system nor a Capitalist system, but a system which could ensure the least amount of equality, by the government's nationalizing lands and major corporations. Such legacy of the National Liberation movement transformed into several ideas regarding the new nation's Constitution right after the liberation, and finally led to the 'First Constitution.' The First Constitution was a concise, albeit imperfect, plan for democracy that should be established in the area of politics, society and economy, and that was generally agreed upon by factions involved in the National Liberation efforts, including the Korean Provisional government. That was why 'equality' was presented as the primary value to be pursued by the new nation in both the foreword and main section of the first Constitution. Yet with the unfolding of the Korean war, anti-Communist sentiment got stronger than ever, and the progressive nature of the First Constitution was severely weakened, while the format itself still remained an impressive one. The problem today is that such spirit of the Constitution is not being fully abided by in the lives of the ordinary people. The objective of the Democratization efforts has been to revive the ideas and ideals of the First Constitution. As long as the people engaged in such efforts try to invite a society where the people's freedom, rights and equality would be ensured, which was also the aim of the National Liberation front in the past, then democratization efforts could be labelled as the 'successor' to the National Liberation movement of the Japanese occupation period.

Isotropic conductive adhesives (ICAs) have been used or considered as an interconnect material for radio frequency identification (RFID) inlays or other flip chip assemblies due to the advantages of having a low temperature and high-speed bonding. In this work, the curing properties of commercial ICAs for the RFID tag application and the signal transmission in conductive lines that contained the ICA joints were evaluated as a function of the degree of cure at 900 MHz frequency range. The ICAs showed adequate signal transmission only after the curing process passed over the critical time. It was also found that the insertion loss of signal was more dependent on the contact states of Ag fillers in the bondline in preference to the electrical resistance of the ICA itself.
