This study is to suggest useful basic data for the future dwelling unit plan, with systematic analysis of the dwelling description change in medium·large sized apartment houses. As results of analyzing change of net areas and bedroom' numbers of apartment houses in Seoul and the suburb by decade after 1970's, the net areas of units are increased and bedroom's numbers of unit are decreased as decades come recently. These are caused by the increasing of household income and the extension of living culture. It is forecasted that the scale of future apartment house unit will be expanded, and that increase of each space and separation of other room will be raised instead of increasing of bedroom's numbers.
상업용 수처리 소재의 Cr(VI) 제거 비교 및 Ferox의 Cr(VI) 흡착 특성 규명

In this study, chromium(VI) adsorption characteristics were analyzed by using commercial filter media including ferox, birm, garnet, and hydro-filt. Adsorption experiments were performed under batch condition. Ferox was found to be the highest adsorption capacity for chromium(VI). Kinetic adsorption experiment result for chromium(VI) adsorption onto ferox showed that equilibrium reached whin 3 hours and the results were well described by pseudo second-order model. Equilibrium experiments were better fitted to Langmuir model than Freundlich model and the maximum adsorption capacity of ferox was 9.26 mg/g. chromium(VI) adsorption increased with increasing temperature, indicating that the reaction was endothermic. The adsorption amount of chromium(VI) was the highest at pH 3 (6.33 mg/g) and decreased with increasing pH. As the increase of ferox dose, the removal percentage of chromium(VI) increased but the adsorption amount per unit mass of adsorbent was decreased. The presence of As a result of the experiments with competitive ions for SO42-, PO43- and NO3- has minor differences and has a negative effect on the chromium(VI) adsorption of ferox. Therefore, it is considered that ferox is not only used as a commercial filter but also effective and economical adsorbent for removing chromium(VI).
Rosa rugosa Aqueous Extract Alleviates Endurance Exercise-Induced Stress

This study was performed to investigate the effect of water extract from Rosa rugosa (RRW) on endurance exercise-induced stress in mice. The mice were orally administered with distilled water or RRW, respectively. The endurance capacity was evaluated by exhaustive swimming using an adjustable-current water pool. Mice administered RRW swam longer before becoming exhausted. Also, RRW administration resulted in less lipid peroxidation, lower muscular antioxidant enzyme activities, and lower cortisol level. The results suggest that RRW can prevent exercise-induced stress by decreasing oxidative stress levels.
