This paper introduces the sociological theory about education by Basil Bernstein, and tries to adapt it to the interpretation of museum space. Reviewing the book, Class Codes and Control written by Bernstein in 1971, some spatial ideas, 'Classification and Framing', are collected and developed into a model by which designers could refine their designs at both conceptual and practical levels. It is further thought that this sociological thoughts could be established as a basis for the programing of museum space. For its application, British Museum and Sir John Soane's Museum, both are in London are examined. It is revealed that these museum spaces possess a different type of spatial rules, and thus impose different circulation logic to the viewers. It is concluded at the end that this kind of spatial logic can be applied back to the design process for better exhibition environment.

Indoor navigation stands out as a crucial technology for the smooth performance of robots. This paper proposes an algorithm for position estimation employing a monocular camera and an inertial measurement unit, presenting a system that re-estimates the robot’s position based on the localization of ArUco markers. The algorithm is designed based on the extended Kalman filter, utilizing measurements derived from the calculated position and velocity information obtained from the markers. Experimental validation of the proposed algorithm demonstrates its effectiveness, confirming the ability to estimate the robot’s position by randomly attaching markers in an environment without pre-set configurations.

This study aims to construct the design competence by means of a topological approach. To this end, the linguistic concept of 'competence and performance' in Chomskian sense is borrowed and applied to the study. The usability of this method is then tested against the sample apartment plans from Gangnam-gu area in Seoul, and it is found that this enabled a middle-ground approach to a more productive grammar that overcomes the limits in Glassie's and Stiny's grammar systems. Through a series of analyses on the sample plans, it could be clarified that there appear classificatory levels in the competence that controls the planning of the building, zoning of the unit, and layout of LDK combination. At the end, it is evaluated that the generative grammar, constructed in this research, is the possible world in designers' minds, and this retrospective remodelling of the architectural competence could illuminate the 'design decision flow' that generates the sample plans.

The investigation of the apartment housing as a dwelling type has become the most important and popular research subject to understand the housing culture in Korea. In their methods of typological analysis, it is found that most studies represent each unit plan as a simplified architectural drawing. This type of typology, however, has difficulties in processing a large scale of data set because each representation of a plan contain too many informations. To deal with this problem, this study suggests a new graph-theoretical method by which apartment plans can be represented in a more simple and effective way. This new method is also tested against the sample plans from Gangnam-gu area in Seoul to reveal the design logic hidden in plan configuration. Through a series of analyses, it is verified that there exist a design strategy that guides the particular pattern of zoning and allocation of each room in the plan.

Organic photodetectors (OPDs) overcome the disadvantages of the traditional inorganic photodetectors in terms of their unique features, such as rich in varieties, light weight, ease of processing, large-area scalability, and high flexibility. Among them, photo-responsive materials used in OPDs have low band gap energy, and dark current is likely to occur by other factors except light. Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly (styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) was used as typical hole transport layer. The contact angle between a liquid film and a solid substrate is treated in the van der Waals Model, and it has an important role in defects and dark current between the interfaces. We mainly improved the dark current, using the Hydrophobic modified PEDOT:PSS-co-TF (TF) and hydrophilic modified PEDOT:PSS-co-PA (PA) instead of PEDOT:PSS. The TF leads to suppressed defects, followed by a sharp decrease in the dark current of TF-based OPDs by 5.60 × 10<SUP>-8</SUP> A/cm² from 1.05 × 10<SUP>-6</SUP> A/cm² at -1 V.
