This study was carried out to elucidate the effects of varieties and locations on the variation of seed weight in peanuts. Six botanical type of peanuts grown at four locations, were investigated of their seed weight. Seed weight of peanuts was significantly different among locations. Mean of seed weight at Taegu was the lowest while it was highest at Jeju except Yeonghotangkong and Chico. Almost all varieties showed normal distribution in seed weight at all locations, but frequency distribution of seed weight of Tainan 10 showed significant skewness and of Sinpungtangkong and Oltangkong showed low kurtosis at Jeju.

This study was conducted to improve seed multiplication by cutting techniques of peanut. Two peanut varieties used were “Younghotangkong” of Virginia type and “Shinpungtangkong” of spanish type. Peants were planted in the vinyl house and cutting sections were inserted into sand with vinyl tunnel. All cuttings formed good roots and was transplanted into field (June 20). In this treatment, number of seeds per plant of all cuttings derived from stock plant was about 6-16 and 13-22 in Younghotangkong and Shinpungtangkong, respetively.
Genetic diversity and population structure of Atractylodes japonica $K_{OIDZ}.$ in Korea

한국내 분포하는 다년생 초본인 삽주 집단의 유전적 다양도와 집단구조를 조사하기 위해 전분 전기영동으로 분석하였다. 15 대립유전자좌위당 9개 좌위에서 다형현상(60.0%)을 보였으며, 유전적 다양도는 종수준에서 0.144로 높은 반면 집단수준이 이보다 약간 낮았다. 삽주의 유전적 다양도는 대부분 집단내에 존재하였고 유사한 생활양식을 가진 다른 식물종에 비해 높았다. 그 이유로는 유성생식, 다년생, 다산 등에 기인한다. 집단간 분화는 약 13%였고 지리적 거리와 유전적 거리의 상관은 높았다(r=0.65). 그럼에도 불구하고 일부 격리된 집단은 유효집단크기를 가지지 못하여 이형접합체의 결여가 유의성을 보여 다양도가 높은 집단의 보존이 요망된다. The study of genetic diversity was carried out in Atractylodes japonica $K_{OIDZ}$. Although this species has been regarded as medically important one, there is no report on population structure in Korea. Starch gel electrophoresis was used to investigate the allozyme variation and genetic structure of eight Korean populations of this species. Of the 15 genetic loci surveyed, nine (60.0%) was polymorphic in at least one population. Genetic diversity was high at the species level $(H_{es}=0.144)$, whereas, that of the population level was relatively low $(H_{ep}=0.128)$. Nearly 87% of the total genetic diversity in A. japonica was apportioned within populations. The sexual reproduction, high fecundity, and perennials are proposed as possible factors contributing to high genetic diversity. The indirect estimated of gene flow based on Gst was 1.69.

활나물의 항산화 효과를 측정하기 위하여 잎, 줄기, 뿌리 및 종자의 부위별로 분리하여 methylen chloride와 ethanol 혼합용매에 의해 추출하였다. 활나물의 부위로 추출수율은 줄기 4.47%, 잎 3.95%, 종자 2.90%, 뿌리 2.67%의 순으로 줄기 부분의 추출수율이 가장 높았다. 총 페놀성 화합물 함량은 잎 2.98, 뿌리 2.34, 종자 2.26, 줄기 2.11 ㎎/mL로 잎추출물에서 가장 높았다. SOD 유사활성은 잎 추출물의 활성이 86.27%로 가장 높았으며, 줄기와 뿌리 추출물은 각각 56.32, 50.29%이었으며, 종자 추출물은 경우 16.82%로 가장 낮았다. 잎, 줄기, 뿌리 추출물의 SOD 유사활성은 천연항산화제인 tocopherol보다 매우 높았다. 활나물 부위별 추출물의 전자공여능은 잎과 줄기 추출물에서 각각 16.87, 16.06%로 매우 높았으며, 뿌리 추출물과 종자 추출물이 각각 11.13, 9.31%로 tocopherol 9.28%보다 높았다. 활나물 부위별 추출물에 대한 hydroxy radical 소거활성은 잎 추출물에서 42.90%로 가장 높게 나타났고, 줄기, 종자, 뿌리 추출물은 각각 41.03, 37.80, 37.62%이었으며, 천연항산화제인 tocopherol 32.38%이 가장 낮은 결과를 보여주었다. 종자 추출물의 hydrogen radical 소거능이 53.51%로 가장 높게 나타났으며, tocopherol의 53.81%와 비슷한 활성 수준을 보여 주었다. 따라서 활나물 부위별 추출물의 항산화 효과를 측정한 결과 잎 추출물이 가장 항산화 활성이 높았으며, 활나물은 천연항산화제로의 개발 가능성이 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. This study was carried to develop the new functional food material by exploring natural antioxidant substances of Crotalaria sessiflora L. We compared antioxidative activity of potential antioxidant substances extracted from Crotalaria sessiflora L. The order of extract yield of Crotalaria sessiflora L. were stem>leaves> seed>root. Antioxidative activities of Crotalaria sessiflora L. were measured by total polyphenol contents, EDA (electron donating activity), SOD (superoxide dismutase)-like activity, hydroxyl radical scavenging ability and hydrogen peroxide radical scavenging ability. Total polyphenol acid content was much higher in leaves Ex than other extracts. And leaves Ex showed the most excellent antioxidative activity (86.27%) in terms of SOD-like activity. The EDA was ordered leaves Ex>stem Ex>seed Ex>root Ex. Hydroxy radical scavenging ability was the most effective in leaves Ex, and hydorogen peroxide radical scavenging ability was the highest in seed Ex. Therefore we could be certain that leaves Ex was the most effective in antioxidative activity from Crotalaria sessiflora L.

Recognizing facial emotion is an essential task to develop automatic tool such as service robot. A lot of methods are developed to recognize human emotion on multi-ethnic data sets. However, the previous methods show lower recognition performance when the models are applied on Korean dataset. To develop an automatic software for Korean, higher recognition ability on Korean emotion is required. Therefore, in this paper, we propose the optimized method to recognize Korean facial emotions using the Korean dataset. Through various experiments, we found that EfficientNetB4 with transfer learning and fine-tuning showed the best performance. The models were selected by considering GPU memory limitation. We compared this result with the model using both Korean datatset(AI Hub) and multi-ethnic dataset(AffectNet) in training and found the result that EfficientNetB4 trained by AI Hub showed the best performance. We named that model “Transferred fine-tuned EfficientNetB4 (TFE)”

Korean angelica(Angelica gigas Nakai), a oriental medicinal plants is important and in great demand in Korea. This crop is a biennial which is to die after flower, so as could not harvest the root. A new variety Anpung was developed from the selection of the local collecting population by medicinal crop team at NCES in 2001. This showed stable bolting during its cropping year and have high quality and yield potential. The color is greenish purple in stem and red purple in flower. It was longer in plant height and root length, thicker in root diameter, more leave and latheral roots comparing with the check variety manchu. The dry root was 72 g/plant showing heavier than check variety of 65 g/plant. It showed such low bolting rate s 0.5%, on the other hand 49.3% in landrace when it cultured by transplanting with heating nursery seedlings, and 0∼15% with field nursery seedlings. The dry root yield of the variety was averaged 3,630 ㎏/㏊ out yielding the check variety by 11% at the three regional yield test from 1999 to 2001. Finally, “Anpung” showed higher content of extracts up to 46.3% in “Anpung”and 45% in check variety, decursin and decursinol contents was 3.48% and 2.79%, showing slightly than check variety.

Interspecific crosses between three peanut cultivars(Arachis hypogaea) having different plant type, and four wild species, Arachis monticola, Arachis correntina, Arachis applisippla, Arachis rigonii were made by gibberellin(GA₃) treatment and the GA₃ effect on the interspecific crossability and growth of pollen tube in pistil was investigated. Pollen germination on the stigma and penetration of the pollen tubes into the style were increased by GA₃ treatment on the flower base. The GA₃ treatment increased pegging and pod formation up to 47% and 1.6% higher than those of control, respectively. Interspecific-crossability was varied with the combination of cultivar and wild species. Combination of Shipung-type variety Daekwangtangkong×wild species and Spanish-type variety Jinpungtangkong×wild species showed about 2% higher crossability than those of Virginia type variety Namdaetangkong×wild species. Arachis monticola among wild species showed the highest crossability with peanut cultivars, while Arachis correntina did the lowest. This result suggested that interspecific crossbility become higher in the cross between autoplyploids rather than those between allopolyploids.
