Vol.50 No.6
Many algorithms have been introduced to improve performance by using massively parallel systems, which consist of several hundreds of processors. A typical example is a GPU system of many processors which uses shared memory. In the case of image filtering algorithms, which make references to neighboring points, the shared memory helps improve performance by frequently accessing adjacent pixels. However, using shared memory requires rewriting the existing codes and consequently results in complexity of the codes. Recent GPU systems support both L1 and L2 cache along with shared memory. Since the L1 cache memory is located in the same area as the shared memory, the improvement of performance is predictable by using the cache memory. In this paper, the performance of cache and shared memory were compared. In conclusion, the performance of cache-based algorithm is very similar to the one of shared memory. The complexity of the code appearing in a shared memory system, however, is resolved with the cache-based algorithm.
Vol.7 No.1
The purpose of this research is to analyze the two nations, the U.S. and China, which have a big influence in the world order by using the framework of power transition theory and to grasp the current situation. This research focused on China from 2003 to 2013 and set up the two nations as follow: China is a challenger and the U.S. is a global hegemon. The analysis result of this research, dealing with the U.S.-China relationship, is that the U.S. overpowered China in the aspect of economic and military power. In addition, there is no singularity in the aspect of the level of system satisfaction. Therefore, China cannot be classified as a dissatisfied nation, nor can it be a challenger. China has gained benefits in the world economic system which the U.S. have been leading in the world. Therefore, China will carefully approach the relationship with the U.S. as a nation in the satisfied group which conforms to the world order that the U.S. leads.

Necrobiotic xanthogranuloma (NXG) is a rare, progressive, histiocytic disease characterized by destructive cutaneous lesions, a close association with paraproteinemia, multiple myeloma, hypertension, and multiple extracutaneous manifestations. Multiple indurated yellow-red plaques or nodules are commonly present in this disorder. The pathogenesis of NXG is poorly understood. Histopathologically, NXG features with hyaline necrosis or necrobiosis are present. We describe a patient with typical cutaneous and histologic findings of NXG with an associated monoclonal gammopathy. (Korean J Dermatol 2012;50(2):152~155)
