아시아지역 국가그룹 간 소득수준의 수렴성 여부를 국가 간 이질성(heterogeneity)을 허용하면서 유사성(similarity)를 동시에 고려하는 확률계수모형(random coefficient model)을 이용하여 Solow-Swan 신고전파 성장모델에 대하여 분석하였다. 분석결과 아시아지역 국가 간에 지역그룹의 균제상태 소득수준으로 수렴하고 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 수렴속도는 0.0032부터 0.0233까지의 수준으로 나타나 OECD 국가나 유럽지역 등 타지역 분석에서 얻어지는 수렴속도보다는 대체로 낮게 나타났다. 이러한 이유는 타지역보다 아시아국가 간 경제발전단계나 사회적ㆍ경제적 수준의 격차가 상이하여 국가 간 이질성이 높기 때문인 것으로 판단된다. 또한 GDP 대비 투자비율이 증가할수록 경제성장률이 상승하여 왔으며 수렴효과를 지속시키고 있고, 인구증가률은 경제상장률에 그 반대의 효과로 나타났다.
ECONOMIC GROWTH AND TECHNOLOGY DIFFUSION IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES

This paper aims to use the system-GMM estimation to fit an augmented Solow growth model with international technology diffusion variables. We also investigate whether the parameters of the model differ appreciably across subsamples of countries. The paper finds that foreign direct investment is a more important channel for technology transfer to developing countries than openness to international trade. Furthermore, the estimates indicate that the more rapidly technology transfer is made, the greater is the stock of human capital accumulated. Purpose: To evaluate the clinical usefulness of binocular multifocal electroretinography (mfERG) by comparing results with conventional monocular mfERG in patients with monocular macular disease. Methods: mfERG testing was conducted on 32 patients with monocular macular disease and 30 normal subjects. An initial mfERG was simultaneously recorded from both eyes with two recording electrodes under binocular stimulation. A second mfERG was subsequently recorded with conventional monocular stimulation. Amplitudes and implicit times of each ring response of the binocular and monocular recordings were compared. Ring ratios of the binocular and monocular recording were also compared. Results: In the macular disease group, there were no statistical differences in amplitude or implicit time for each of the five concentric rings between the monocular and binocular recordings. However, with binocular simulation, the ring ratios (ring 1 / ring 4, ring 1 / ring 5) were significantly reduced in the affected eye. In the normal control group, there were no statistical differences in any parameters between the monocular and binocular recordings. Conclusions: Binocular mfERG could be a good alternative to the conventional monocular test. In addition,given that the test needs stable fixation of the affected eye during the binocular test, the reliability of the test results could be improved, especially for patients with monocular macular disease

A 56-year-old female patient presented with decreased visual acuity in her right eye lasting for one day. During the first visit, best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) was 20/80 and 20/20, in the right and left eye, respectively. Fundus examination of the right eye revealed an elevated mass in the superior area of the optic disc and exudative retinal detachment in the macula. Choroidal metastatic tumor secondary to non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) was diagnosed after systemic work up. Photodynamic therapy (PDT) and the intravitreal bevacizumab injection for choroidal metastatic carcinoma were performed. After six months, the BCVA of the right eye was improved to 20/25. Complete regression of the tumor was noticed and serous detachment was resolved. There has been no recurrence for six months. We observed that combined treatment with PDT and intravitreal bevacizumab injection is effective in BCVA improvement and tumor regression, in a patient with choroidal metastasis of NSCLC.

SEAWAT, a linked modeling program of Visual MODFLOW was used to analyze the change in groundwater levels and salinity related groundwater dam construction in Cheongsan island, Wando-Gun, Jeollanam-Do. The steady-state model results show the groundwater flow and salinity distribution of the studied area. The groundwater flows from north-west and south-east highlands into the river, located in the middle part of the basin, and is eventually discharged to the ocean. Part of the sea water infiltrates into the river; and through the estuary's alluvium aquifer, the sea water intrusion takes place spreading to about 830 m from the ocean. The transient model results show that after the groundwater dam construction, groundwater levels will rise to a maximum of 2.0 m upstream, and the groundwater storage will increase 21,000 after 10 years. Meanwhile 31% of the total area affected by sea water intrusion will decrease. To conclude, the groundwater dam is a very useful method for a secure water resource in preparation for drought and water shortages in the island regions.
