During steelmaking in EAF, recycled scraps is used as a main material, melted by arc, and electricity use as a main energy. Slag foaming is an important technology for reducing electrical energy. CO gas generated by the reaction between injection carbon and (FeO), [C] and injection {$O_2$}. CO gas generated by this reaction is collected in slag, resulted in slag foaming. In general, the carbon materials used in the EAF process is anthracite and coke. This study investigated the effects of the carbon materials used on slag foaming in the steelmaking process. As a result of this study, the slag foaming height is increased by cokes rather than anthracite, and with an increase in the amount of particles samller than $500{\mu}m$. Based on these results, the application to the operation resulted in increase of slag forming height, reduction of injection carbon, and reduction of electrical energy.

This study was undertaken to determine the concentrations of airborne bacteria, fungi, particles, and endotoxin in swine and chicken houses. Six swine buildings and seven chicken houses were randomly selected in southern Gyonggi Province, South Korea. The geometric mean concentrations of airborne bacteria in swine and chicken houses were $2.7{\times}10^5\;CFU/m^3$ and $5.6{\times}10^7\;CFU/m^3$, respectively. The airborne bacteria concentrations in chicken houses were significantly higher than those of swine houses (p<0.05). The geometric mean concentration of airborne fungi in swine houses was $4.9{\times}10^3\;CFU/m^3$, which was higher than the value of $2.1{\times}10^3\;CFU/m^3$ found in chicken houses. The mean concentrations of airborne particles and endotoxin in swine houses were $3.48\;mg/m^3$ and $943.1\;EU/m^3$, and they were $15.43\;mg/m^3$ and $1,430.5\;EU/m^3$ in chicken houses, respectively. A significant difference between swine and chicken houses was found for total dust (p<0.05), but not for endotoxin. In this study, the concentrations of endotoxin in both swine and chicken houses as well as particles in chicken houses were high, and in about 50% of the samples exceeded the worker health safety levels of $614\;EU/m^3$ suggested in previous studies. These results may indicate a considerable respiratory hazard for workers in these environments.

Block copolymers with poly(tetrametnylene glycol)(PTMG) or poly(ethylene glycol)(PEG) spacers of different length and the 4,4`-(terephthaloyldioxy) dibenzoly unit have been synthesised by interfacial polymerizaiton. Thermal properties were found to be dependent on average length of hard segment as well as of the polyether segment. All copolyesters were elastomeric at room temperature. Thermtopic liquid crystalline behavior was found for all block copolyester and orginated from the hard segment.

Background: Korean sport diplomacy has played an increasing role in international sport politics over the past few decades, demonstrated by hosting of number of major international athletic events. However, organizational infrastructure remains weak and the future direction of growth remains unclear. The purpose of this paper is to identify the problems of Korean sport diplomatic policy and to present potential solutions. Methods: A qualitative study utilizing expert interviews with and comprehensive review of the literature were performed. Results: Key findings are summarized below. First in order to secure strategic executive office in international sports government, it is critical to mobilize sport elites to take more active role in the field of sport diplomacy. Countries in the forefront of sport politics utilize former athletes or individual with athlete background for sport diplomacy. Diplomats with athletic background have field expertise and are more effectively able to communicate with other international diplomats who may share athletic background Present1y, most Korean sport athletes are not capable for such task due to lack of language training. The importance of academic education of athletes, especially language proficiency, should be promoted by the Ministry of Education. Secondly, modem day sport diplomacy requires interdisciplinary approach. Seamless and sustain어collaboration of government, sport community, and business sectors is required to achieve long term goals. Thirdly, the future sport diplomacy should expand to host small and mediurn international sport events including sport forurn or sport scientific congress rather than just focusing on mega sporting events such as Olympics or World Cup. Finally in order to efficient1y adapt to the rapidly changing sport environment, the government should place a high priority in developing sport talents with interest in sport diplomacy by providing experience to work in the various international and domestic sport organizations with opportunities for networking.

The therapeutic use of TMJ arthroscopy is discussed in many articles, but few address the therapeutic success of this surgical procedure. This study evaluated the therapeutic success of TMJ arthroscopies performed over a year period at Yonsei University Youndong Severance Hospital. Sixty-five TMJ arthroscopic lysis and lavage procedures of the superior compartment of fifty-one patients were reviewed. Seven males and Forty-four females underwent the procedure. Several different factors were used to access therapeutic success. These factors included: pain, noise, mobility, duration of symptoms, clinical diagnosis, and symptoms at longest follow up. Success was determined by minimal or no post-operative pain and increased or normal mobility. No pain of minimal pain was found in 75%(27/36) of the joints that underwent arthroscopic surgery. 16.7%(6/36) of the painful joint did not improved and 8.3%(3/36) developed a disease. The success of mobility was based on maximal incisal opening. 95.2%(20/21) of patients who suffered their hypomobility, achieved an increase in their maximum opening, and 4.8%(1/21) remained unchanged. 40%(8/20) with previous joint noise had no post operative noise, 55%(11/20) decreased significantly, and 5%(1/20) continued noise. The duration of symptoms prior to surgery were analyzed and compared with the post-operative result. Of significance was the 86.4% success rate in those patients treated in 3 years of onset of symptoms, on the other hand the 58.1% success rate over 3 years. In case of anterior disc displacement with reduction had better results(93.8%) compared to anterior disc displacement without reduction(68.8%). Arthroscopic surgery was shown to be an accepted therapeutic method for improving TMJ pain, mobility and decreasing joint noise. It was also found that the success of an arthroscopic procedure remained stable. Some post-operative complaints occurred, post-operative edema, ear bleeding, slight paresthsia of facial nerve. All these complaints resolved. This study shows arthroscopy to be a low risk very successful surgical procedure in improving TMJ pain, mobility and decreasing in joint noise.

We studied the control of pretilt angles for homeotropic aligned nematic liquid crystal (NLC) on SiOx thin film surface by 45 ° evaporation method with electron beam system. The uniform vertical LC alignment on the SiOx thin film surfaces with electron beam evaporation was achieved. It is considered that the LC alignment on SiOx thin film by 45 ° electron beam evaporation is attributed to elastic interaction between LC molecules and micro-grooves at the SiOx thin film surface created by evaporation. The pretilt angles of about 3.5 ° in aligned NLC on SiOx thin film surfaces by electron beam evaporation of 45 ° were measured. Consequently, the high pretilt angles of the NLC on the SiOx thin film by 45 ° oblique electron beam evaporation method can be achieved.

In this study, liquid crystal (LC) aligning properties for homeotropic alignment on the SiOx thin film by electron beam evaporation method with electron beam system in accordance with the evaporation angles were investigated. Also, the control of pretilt angles homeotropic aligned LC on SiOx thin film as the function of the evaporation angles were studied. The uniform vertical LC alignment on the SiOx thin film surfaces with electron beam evaporation was achieved with all of the thin film angle conditions. It is considerated that the LC alignment on the SiOx thin film by electron beam evaporation is attributed to elastic interaction between LC molecules and micro-grooves at the SiOx thin film surface created by evaporation. The values of the pretilt angles according to the evaporation angle were from about 0.7 ° to about 3.4 °. The highest pretilt angles of about 3.4 ° in aligned NLC on the SiOx thin film surfaces by electron beam evaporation were measured under the condition of 45 °. Also, good LC alignment states on the treated SiOx thin film layer by electron beam evaporation were observed at annealing temperature of 250 ℃. Consequently, the high pretilt angle and the good thermal stability of LC alignment on the SiOx thin film by electron beam evaporation can be achieved.
