The polymerization of trimethylene carbonate (TMC) in the presence of HCl ㆍ Et₂O via activated monomer mechanism was performed to synthesize linear and star-shaped block copolymers composed of polyethyleneglycol (PEG) and poly(trimethylene carbonate) (PTMC). The obtained PTMCs had molecular weights close to the theoretical values calculated from the TMC to PEG molar ratios and exibited monomodal GPC curves. We successfully prepared PEG and PTMC linear and star-shaped block copolymers by activated monomer mechanism. The characterization for formation of micelle of block copolymers in an aqueous phase was carried out by using NMR, dynamic light scattering (DLS), AFM and fluorescence techniques (FL). The block copolymers gave micelles with a critical micelle concentration (CMC) ranging 1.88×10-2–3.09×10-3 mg/mL depended on the molecular shape of block copolymers. The diameters of micelles, measured by DLS, were 100–250 nm. Most micelles exhibited a spherical shape in AFM.

컴퓨터를 이용한 협동작업은 공간적으로 분산되어 있는 여러 작업자들이 동기적 EH는 비동기적으로 협력할 수 있게 함으로써 보다 신속하고 정확하게 작업을 진행할 수 있게 한다. 최근의 협동작업 분야의 급속한 발전은 이제 더 이상 웹 상에서의 협동작업 도구를 메일, 채팅, 화이트보드, 화상회의 등에 한정하지 않고 웹 응용 프로그램들을 협동작업 도구에 포함시키기에 이르렀다. 본 논문에서는 공간적으로 분산되어 있는 여러 작업자들이 상용 웹 브라우저를 이용하여 웹 문서와 웹 데이터베이스 내용을 공유함으로써 보다 효율적인 협동작업을 할 수 있는 시스템을 소개한다. 본 논문에서 소개하는 시스템은 주소 동기화(URL Synchronization), 스크롤 동기화(Scroll Synchronization) 및 윈도우 크기 동기화(Window Size Synchronization) 기능을 제공하여 사용자들이 서로 다른 터미널에서 웹 브라우저를 동기적으로 이용할 수 있게 한다. 주소 동기화는 인터넷 브라우징의 이동과 방향을 동기적으로 제어해주고, 폼 동기화는 웹 페이지 입력을 실시간으로 보여준다. 스크롤 동기화는 웹 페이지의 스크롤을 동기적으로 제어하여 웹 브라우저의 출력 내용이 길어질 경우에도 문서 안의 같은 부분을 공유 할 수 있게 하며 윈도우 크기 동기화는 윈도우의 길이와 넓이를 맞춰준다.

조직공학재생의학(조재학)은 생명과학과공학의 기본개념을 응용하여 생체조직을 만들고, 복원시키고, 변형시키기 위하여 새로운 디바이스나 생체조직 대용품을 만드는 학문분야이다. 조재학은 다학제간 연구개발하는 분야로써 매우 혁신적인 건강관리 및 치료 학문분야이다. 조재학의 큰 특징은 발전 속도가 빠른 첨단 과학 기술을 바탕으로 하고 있기 때문에 발전 속도가 빠르다는 점과 여러 분야의 지식과 기술을 함께 이용하기 때문에 다른 학문보다 관련 분야에 대하여 더욱 더 폭 넓은 이해를 필요로 하게 되므로 서로 다른 분야의 지식을 가진 과학자들의 협동 연구가 요구된다. 본 총설에서는 현재의 연구개발 동향 및 결과와 미래 가능성의 이해를 돕기위해 고찰하였다. Tissue engineering and regenerative medicine(TERM) is the application of principles and methods of engineering and life sciences to creat devices or biological substitutes for study, restoration, modification, and assembly of functional tissues. TERM is an emerging interdisplinary area of research and development that has the potential to revolutionize methods of health care treatment. Current status and trend of TERM's R&D is reviewed in this paper in respect to the prospective of future needs.
PLGA/DBP 필름에서 DBP 함량에 따른 슈반씨세포와 후각초성세포의 부착과 성장에 미치는 영향

Poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid)(PLGA) is a biodegradable synthetic polymer with acceptable mechanical strength and well-controlled degradation rate. Also, it can be easily fabricated into many shapes. Demineralized bone particle(DBP) contains powerful bioactive molecules. In this study, we fabricated natural/synthetic biomaterial hybrid films using 0, 10, 20, 40 and 80 % of DBP. Schwann cells(SCs) and olfactory ensheathing cells(OECs) were seeded on PLGA/DBP film and confirmed the effects of adhesion and proliferation on SCs and OECs according to content of DBP. PLGA/DBP composite films are easily fabricated and provided bioactive environment that enhance the cell adhesion and proliferation. In this study, we confirmed that specific 10~20% DBP in PLGA/DBP films was superior to adhesion and proliferation of SCs and OECs and content of DBP such as 40% and 80% could not help cell growth and proliferation. These results suggest that DBP, natural material, provide suitable surface to neural cells and proper content affect on culture condition to improve cell adhesion and proliferation. In addition, these information would contribute to design of 3-dimentional PLGA/DBP scaffold for tissue engineered spinal cord regeneration.

Poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid)(PLGA) is a biodegradable synthetic polymer with acceptable mechanical strength and has well-controlled degradation rate. Demineralized bone particle(DBP) contains powerful bioactive molecules. Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells(BMSCs) are important progenitor and supporting cells that have the intrinsic ability to self-renewal and differentiate into multiple functional cells. In this study, we fabricated natural/ synthetic hybrid PLGA scaffolds included 20% of DBP(PLGA/DBP). Schwann cells(SCs) and olfactory ensheathing cells(OECs) were seeded on PLGA/DBP scaffolds. We confirmed that effects of PLGA/DBP scaffolds seeded OEC and SC on proliferation and differentiation of BMSCs. PLGA/DBP scaffolds seeded OECs and SCs were superior to differentiation into neuronal cell proliferation of BMSCs. This phenomenon was expected due to cytokine secreted by OECs and SCs promote proliferation and differentiation of BMSCs.

Olfactory ensheathing cells(OEC) have been reported to migrate long distances and to guide axonal regeneration after spinal cord injury(SCI). Bone morphogenetic proteins(BMPs), members of the TGF-β family of signaling molecules, have numerous functions in nervous system development. In this study, Therefore, we investigated interaction of OEC with poly(lactide-co-glycolide)(PLGA)/demineralized bone particle(DBP) scaffold according to content of DBP. We manufactured PLGA/DBP scaffold by solvent casting/salt leaching method. Cell proliferation seeded into the scaffold were assayed MTT test and NF, S-100, P75 and BDNF were expressed in OEC cultured PLGA/DBP scaffold according to content of DBP. We examined the cell adhesion and proliferation by scanning electron microscopy observation. We confirmed that OEC adhesion and proliferation was increased on PLGA/ DBP scaffold of higher content of DBP. In these results, we recognized that PLGA/DBP scaffold provide the suitable environment for improvement of cell proliferation and formation of extra cellular matrix.

We have investigated differentiation of bone marrow stromal cells(BMSCs) through co-culture system with Schwann cells(SCs). Expression of the S-100, Schwann cell markers, was determined by immunocytochemical staining and reverse transcriptase polymer chain reaction(RT-PCR). The morphology and growth in terms of differentiated BMSC was observed by invert microscope. Following co-culture time with SCs, BMSCs underwent morphological changes similar to those of cultured SCs and stained positively for S-100 protein as well as high proliferation aspect were detected. Electrophoresis analysis revealed that the levels of S-100 on BMSC co-cultured with SCs related with other group maintained up to 21 days. These findings support the assertion that BMSCs can be differentiated into cells that are Schwann cell-like in terms of phenotype using Schwann cell only.

Ectopic pituitary adenomas are relatively rare tumors. We present a case of ectopic pituitary adenoma occurring in the sphenoid sinus. A 64-year-old woman with severe headache was referred to our hospital. She had normal pituitary functions. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed a tumor in the sphenoid sinus with an extension to clival regions. No connection between the normal pituitary gland and tumor was observed. Using an endonasal-transsphenoidal approach assisted with neuro-endoscopy, Total removal of the tumor was achieved. Pituitary dura was intact, although sellar floor was fragile and clival bone was destructed. Histopathological analysis was consistent with pituitary adenoma. As demonstrated by our case report, differential diagnosis of a tumor occurring in the sphenoid sinus could include the existence of an ectopic pituitary adenoma.
