LIPG promoter polymorphism is associated with ischemic stroke in Korean population

Endothelial lipase (LIPG) is a member of the triglyceride lipase family which includes hepatic lipase and lipoprotein lipase. Its activity is related to clinically important parameters like blood lipid levels, hypertension, and obesity. In this work,we investigated the association of a LIPG promoter polymorphism,rs9958947C>T, with susceptibility to ischemic stroke in a Korean population. A total of 1,144 subjects (656cerebral infarction patients and 488 controls) were enrolled on a voluntary basis. The rs9958947C>T polymorphism was genotyped using the single-base extension method. The association of rs9958947C>T with disease status was evaluated by statistical analyses. The frequencies of the rs9958947 C and T alleles were significantly different between the stroke patient group and control group (OR [95% CI], 1.300 [1.000-1.691],P=0.0449). A significantly higher frequency of the CT+TT genotype was observed in the patient group compared to the control group (CC/CT+TT, OR [95% CI], 1.632 [1.094-2.435],P=0.0164). The results suggest that the T allele of the LIPG promoter polymorphism rs9958947C>T should be considered as a genetic risk factor for ischemic stroke. Further association studies in other ethnic populations would help to generalize this hypothesis.

Hand screen printing of silk fabrics with a monochlorotriazinyl reactive dye in sodium alginate thickener was investigated through all the printing procedures. Since the properties of the printed materials are characterized by the sharpness of the printings and the fixed dye on fiber, main factors affecting them were examined and discussed. It was shown that the sharpness is dominantly dependent on the concentration of thickener (i.e., viscosity) and RH (relative humidity) in steaming and dye fixation on fiber is relied on the alkali contents in printing paste, RH in steaming and the concentration of thickener.
Sodium Alginate/Sodium carboxymethyl Cellulose 날염호의 첨예성에 관한 연구

The sharpness of a pattern depends on the variation in flow properties of thickeners, which can be brought by mixing of the thickening agents. In the present study, sodium alginate and sodium carboxymethyl cellulose were used as single or mixed thickening agent. The variation in flow properties of various thickeners was measured and analyzed through flow curve, structural viscosity index, thixotropy, spinnability and viscosity. Also the effect of the variation in flow properties on sharpness was measured and discussed. By mixing sodium alginate and sodium carboxymethyl cellulose, the viscosity reduces rapidly and the yield value decreases to the half that of sodium caroxymethyl cellulose, The structural viscosity index of sodium carboxymethyl cellulose 2% thickener shows the largest value among the thickeners used and those of 1/1 and 1/4 mixed thickener with sodium carboxymethyl cellulose are larger than that of sodium alginate alone. As for as the mixed thickeners are considered, the best sharpness is obtained when the mixed ratio of sodium alginate to sodium carboxymethyl cellulose is 1:4. The sharpness is improved proportionally to thixotropy.
