Background : An ICU pharmacist plays a pivotal role in promoting adherence to protocolized analgo- sedation strategy. The purpose of this study was to validate the impact of a pharmacist’s intervention on clinical outcomes in a medical ICU. Methods : The pharmacist reinformed physicians and nurses in the use of the protocol, emphasizing intermittent analgesic dosing prior to starting continuous infusions and daily sedation interruption. Additionally, formal audit and feedback were conducted regularly. In the control group, 145 admissions were collected retrospectively over a 3-month period from February to April 2014. In the intervention group, 141 admissions were reviewed prospectively over a 3-month period from June to August 2014. Results : After intervention, duration of ICU stay or mechanical ventilation did not change signfiicantly (median: 2.9 days vs. 3.2 days; 3.5 days vs. 3.8 days, respectively). Although there was a trend toward increased continuous opioid use (median total dose per patients: 9,512.5 mcg vs. 10,266.7 mcg) and decreased used of benzodiazepine and propofol (median total dose per patients: 1,318.5 mg vs. 190.7 mg; 5,587.5 mg vs. 2,653.3 mg, respectively), differences were not statistically significant. However, the proportion of days deeply sedated was decreased (Richmond Agitation Sedation Scale - 4, -5: 25.7% vs. 20.0%). The proportion of days awake without being delirious or having coma showed a trend of increase (negative Confusion Assessment Method for ICU: 50.0% vs. 57.0%). Furthermore, the proportion of comatose days was decreased (35.2% vs. 24.1%, p 0.041). Conclusions : A pharmacist’s intervention for implementing the sedation protocol did not significantly decrease the duration of stay in the ICU or mechanical ventilation, although it might minimize deep sedation and delirium.

This study is aims to voluntary participation in rural development projects, voluntary participation by analyzing the individual competence factors, how the what and how much influence affect the continued involvement and participation as a concept of strengthening community capacity the plan for it to present. The results of survey, through factor analysis and reliability analysis for extracting the components of individual competence areas and life satisfaction, self acting capacity, was extracted with recognized competence, was the factor analysis and reliability analysis for ongoing involvement and participation. Personal competence was a multiple regression analysis, the participation of three elements as independent variables as dependent variables to evaluate the impact of continuing involvement, and the resulting Regional and life satisfaction (β = 0.301) have the greatest impact It showed. In addition, regional analysis and life satisfaction (β = 0.247) on the impact of enlargement on the individual capabilities showed the highest participation. The elements of local life satisfaction and personal competencies exerts the greatest influence on the continued involvement and participation in the study was obtained. It based on the results in rural development for the voluntary participation and participation of the population should be considered with a plan to enhance the regional and life satisfaction, “the software business, which is carried out in rural areas developed for them by local residents the measures to increase life satisfaction will be provided.
STEAM-Inspired Curriculum for Middle School Students: A Case of Stop-Motion Animation Unit
고진영 한국국제미술교육학회 2020 미술과 교육 Vol.21 No.1
The goal of this research project was to develop integrated units of study appropriate for middle-school students. This study has shown that in order for integration to be meaningful and successful, there must be an equal emphasis placed on all components of instruction. For the effective STEAM-inspired instruction, collaboration and communication between all involved teachers were significant. The lesson unit developed as action research feature the collaboration of teachers from a variety of subject areas who naturally aligned their objectives and standards with each other. For example, the Stop-Motion Animation unit was implemented through a collaborative effort between the Computer, Science, and Art Teachers. Each unit also features lessons that cater to different learning styles and that are evaluated by multiple forms of assessment. In addition to the development of practical lessons, the researcher also produced two surveys for colleagues and students to understand the middle school students’ attitudes and interest levels toward the integration of the art into curricula. The survey results indicated a significant interest in arts integration, but also a concern among teachers about the actual implementation of integration practices.

We report a case of complicated temporal lobe abscess following mastoidectomy. The patient complained of a headache after surgery, however, he was discharged as his symptom was considered to be a common postoperative headache. He revisited our due to a generalized tonic-clonic seizure, and the CT and MRI findings suggested the diagnosis of temporal lobe abscess. The patient was successfully treated with antibiotics instead of surgical treatment. Although the cerebral abscess following mastoidectomy is extremely rare, it is necessary to pay attention to it. Particularly when the patient complains of a headache, it is important to consider the aspects of headache carefully. Bone defect in tegmen tympani and exposure of dura will increase the risk of cerebral abscess, therefore careful caution is required in the presence of lower dura mater. This is a qualitative case study examining effective methods that museum educators and art teachers can implement to provide children with opportunities to discuss their interpretations of artwork through theme-based art education. Observations were conducted in three theme-based sessions of the Family Gallery Talk programs at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, for children ages four to five, eight to nine, and nine to eleven. The Family Gallery Talk programs were theme-based and the museum educators facilitated group dialogue and discussion, used guiding questions, and repeated students’ comments. Through these teaching procedures, the observed museum educators encouraged participants to find details in the artworks and use their imaginations to craft their own interpretative thoughts and narratives. Thus, art educators may be considered to utilize the effective methods used in the gallery talk program discussed in this research to improve their art education classes in schools/galleries.
