Convention contributes greatly to the improvement of international payments and the economic activation and establishment of status of the host region. So it has become a new high value-added kind of industry. Each country raises convention nationally as it is expected to affect the economic, political, social and cultural tourism greatly. The aim of international conventions is not only at the convention itself. But as it includes pre & post tour, exhibition and event, international convention has double objects. Therefore participants of international conventions are regarded as double-aimed tourists in the tourism industrial aspect. Holding international conventions affects the tourism industry in the aspect of invitation of many tourists, extension of their stay and the way out of the decrease in the number of tourists at off-season. Korea is now humming with the huge conventions such as $quot;The 14th General Assembly in Korea/Japan(WTO)$quot;, $quot;2002 FIFA World Cup Korea/Japan$quot; and $quot; The 14th Asian Games, Busan 2002$quot;. Expansion of the convention facility, activation of holding the conventions, raising PCO and cultivation experts are needed to develop Korean convention. If we conduct these ways of development of conventions strategically and consistently, holding conventions will make the future of Korean Tourism Industry bright.
비화농성 삼출성 복수를 동반하는 질환에서 복막 침생검의 진단적 의의

Percutaneous needle biopsies of peritoneum with Abrams needle and Cope needle were done un 64 patients with non-purulent exudative ascites, who was admitted to the department of internal medicine, Chosun University hospital, from January 1978 to Deccmber 1983. The diagnostic significance and safety of the needle biopsy was estimated. The results were as follows. 1. Adequate peritoneal tissue for pathological diagnosis was obtained in 53 cases(82.8%) among 64 cases. (Abrams needle 84.8%, Cope needle 80.6%) 2. Definitive diagnosis was obtained in 31 cases among 53 cases (58.6%). (Tuberculosis 23 cases, malignancy 8 cases). 3. As compared final diagnosis with biopsy result, the rate of final diagnosis corresponding with biopsy diagnosis was 58.8% in tuberculosis and 26.3%, in malignancy, but the rate of biopsy diagnosis corresponding with final diagnosis was 100% in both tuberculosis and malignancy. 4. Cases of chronic non-specific inflammation which were diagnosed by biopsy were 13cases(24.5%)among 53 cases, and among these cases, tuberculosis was 69.2% and malignancy 30.8% on final diagnosis and among 53 cases, histologically normal was 9 cases(16.9%) of which 33.3% was tuberculosis and 66.7% was malignancy on final diagnosis. 5. Of the malignant cases on final diagnosis, Positive cytologic examination of ascitic fluid was 16.7% 6. Primary losions of cancerous peritonitis were stomach cancer (38.9%) hepatocellular cancer(22.2%) colon cancer (11.1%) ovarian cancer (11.1%) Pancreatic cancer (5.6%). 7. Complication of percutaneous peritoneal biopsy was local swelling with leakage of ascitic fluid and the accident rate were 36.4,% in Abraham needle and 3.2% in Cope needle.
Poly(N-isopropylacrylamide)/Silica 복합재료에 관한 연구

Thermosensitive poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM) composite exhibit a unique phase change at its lower critical solution temperature(LCST). The properties of PNIPAM nanocomposite make it a good candidate material for many applications, such as in articial muscles, drug delivery system, reversible surfaces, separation membranes, enzyme immobilization, catalysis substrates, actuators, and chemical valves. Thermal responsive composite were synthesized by two step. In the first step, N-isopropylacrylamide and methylene bisacrylamide as crosslinking agent was copolymerized at 65 ℃ and generated the silica in PNIPAM network by in-situ precipitation method as second step. Hydrogel containing silica exhibited a LCST similar to PNIPAM hydrogel. However, tensile strength showed that the mechanical property of thermoresponsive PNIPAM composites was improved compared to PNIPAM without silica filler.

This study was performed to investigate the cytotoxicity of the chromium ion on the mouse fibroblast L cell line. The effects of chromium ion (Cr^3+, Cr^6+) on the cell proliferation and the total amount of protein in cultured cells were investigated at various concentrations of chromium ion. The results were as follows ; 1. Cell proliferation and the total amount of protein were not influenced at 1 ppm, 5ppm and 10ppm in Cr^3+ - treated medium. 2. In 0.05 ppm containing medium, cell proliferation and the total amount of protein were not changed comparing with control group, but in 0.1ppm containing medium, they were slightly inhibited and completely inhibited at 0,5ppm in Cr^6+ - treated medium. From these results, it is suggested that the cell proliferation and protein synthesis were inhibited markedly by Cr^6+ rather than by Cr^3+

Drug use in athletes is one of the more serious problem in the World. The purpose of this study is to clarify the problem of doping on performance in sports from the stand point of sport ethics. The use of drugs in sports is not new. According to Cooper, the first recorded death from drug usage in sports occured in the 1890s when a British cyclist who was using ephedrine to improve his performance died as a result. There has been much discussions about the possible solution of the drug problem in athletes. We suggest three ways to deal with the problem : education programs and counseling, crack-downs on drug users and peddlers within sports, and the encouragement of experiencing competition in Sports.
